i havent had a gall bladder since 1990 and had zero problems with keto. i've heard a very few others that have had to be a little more careful...but all have had really good results in the long run.

Not having a gallbladder can make keto-adapting harder (depends on your liver health... if it's producing and storing enough bile on its own, not having a gallbladder isn't an issue... it's the ox bile that digests the fat)... it will just take more time. In the meantime, smaller, more frequent 'meals' would probably help, too. Gut/digestive healing takes time and patience. You may need to supplement for a long time. I'm into my 8th year of eating for gut health and I'm still experiencing changes for the better.

Best wishes!

Dr. Jason Fung: "Holy consensus, Batman. With so many 'experts' from Michelle Obama to the USDA to virtually all of the medical professionals (including doctors and dieticians) agreeing that 'Eat Less, Move More' is the way to go, you might think that it is 100% unquestionably true. But here's a queer thought... if we all agree that we know the cure for obesity, and we've spent billions on educations and programs - why are we getting fatter? In other words, why does this 'cure' suck so bad?

Ramona, i don't have a gallbladder and i do take a digestive enzyme and probiotic. Great articles you share! I eat slow and do not over eat, hurts too much.

I think my probiotic may not be strong enough so I am going to get the 150/40 Real life one. I have some ox bile but have not used it yet...a mental thing lol....but will do so anyway.

Thank you so much...it makes sense to me. Acv and HCI did not work for me.

Heartburn isn't caused by food, it's most often caused by too weak stomach acid that makes it more difficult to digest the food you eat, and if your gallbladder or liver are under-functioning, the fat in a keto diet can exacerbate the problem (I don't think bariatric surgery is a significant factor here). Heartburn is related to gut/digestive health.

I had heartburn to the point of not being able to sleep lying down prior to keto, and in the initial stages of keto-adapting, it came back for bit.

As long as I support my liver/gallbladder I do fine. When my heart burn was really bad I supplemented with apple cider vinegar or HCl capsules, digestive enzymes, ox bile and dandelion. Keto itself has cleared up any residual digestive issues.

This should be helpful:

HMMM I never had gastric sleeve surgery but I remember hearing from friends at my old TOPS group that heartburn was an issue for them if they ate too much at one time. I don't recall having any heart burn when I was doing KETO more carefully than I am now. But in general when I have had heartburn in the past, it was usually eating too much at a time, or (for me) trying to eat with super tight clothing... also needed for me to drink my water at non meal times (eat, let myself digest for 20-30 minutes, drink water, wait ... more water if needed, and then eat at my next meal time 2-3 hours later etc.

But maybe different for others. I believe SparkPeople has various general articles on heartburn that might help you? Possibly some Gastric Sleeve teams too?? Hope you find something that works because I know it is NOT fun having heart burn!

And strengthens her arms.

I would like suggestions on how would you began elimination to find what cause heartburn. I suffer almost daily.

I see where Keto eliminates that in many people.

What is the main culprit or is it just a thing for gastric sleeve people?
