I dreamed I ate sugar (not sure what - but I do know I felt so disappointed in myself) and when I woke up it was 530 am. (Saturday) I got up and mopped the whole downstairs (1800 sq ft) and have lots of energy. So I think I sleep less, yet have more energy.

And so happy I didn't eat sugar!!

NIGHTSKYSTAR,
the secret to the long life is of course "just waking up every morning", the having breakfast part is a distraction.

CED1106,
that is interesting. When I first started eating Keto many years ago it did lead to lighter sleep, not quite insomnia, but less sleep, and lighter sleep before waking. But that only lasted for a few weeks.

As I got deeper into ketosis my sleep patterns returned to normal.

However, now that you mention it, in the last weeks I've noticed that I've been dreaming rather a lot. I didn't attribute it to Keto, I attributed it to where I live. I figured it is so quiet where I live that I very slowly wake up, and stay in REM state longer. But it could be Keto ... could be.

Interesting -- I guess since keto affects glucose levels and the brain relies on glucose, it shouldn't be surprising. Anyway...

"In the short-term, the keto diet can cause interrupted sleep and insomnia. Long-term, the keto diet can lead to deeper sleep and less required sleep overall.

"Carbohydrates are typically the body's main source of energy as they supply the body with a constant supply of glucose, and "improve entry of the amino acid L-tryptophan into the brain." Livestrong.com lists that L-tryptophan assists with the production of serotonin, which is a neurotransmitter known for calming the body, and contributing to better sleep and well-being. Serotonin is converted into melatonin— the sleep hormone.

"A study published by the International League Against Epilepsy found that while the ketogenic diet may decrease total time spent asleep, it can improve the quality of one's sleep, with increased REM sleep.

Holly, your sentence "i just..go to bed and wake up in the morning.lol"
made me thing of my friend Arnold, when he was 95 and still in good health someone asked him his secret to such a long and healthy life. He said "its simple, just wake up every morning and have breakfast".

I've had an irregular sleep pattern for many years now. When I started keto, I noticed while it still might be irregular - I felt I was getting a better quality of sleep.

I noticed the exact opposite when I switch to Keto. For years I have had difficulties in falling asleep and going back to sleep once I woke up. I was also a light sleeper and woke up several times throughout the night.

After the first few days I started to sleep better and deeper. When I did wake up at night I was able to fall back asleep in less time that I have in years.

Focusing on progress, not perfection.

I didn't notice sleeping lighter on Keto until I added IF and occasional extended fasting (24-72Hr).
I dream more and seem to have a lot more mental clarity too.

I still sleep lighter - but have so much more energy during the day it's a trade off I'm happy to make.

And I dream more too.

I've always had problems sleeping, I drink so much water it's daily trips to the loo! I can get back to sleep sometimes, but then there are those times, I'm awake, no matter what.

Getting and staying healthy is not an option, it's a lifestyle.

I found I was sleeping lighter when starting Keto. Just for the first 3 weeks roughly, and then my sleep patterns returned to normal.

I woke up early, I dreamed a lot more. I wondered if it was forever, then I returned to my old sleep patterns a few weeks later.

What about you?
