Dear Wanda Hang in there. I had to really cut my carbs very low. I found hidden carbs in the sweetner I was using. If your able to get those carbs under 25 for the day you will notice how your hunger will really decrease. Thats has been the most freeing part of Keto. If I start getting hunger cravings I looks to see if I have added any sneaky carbs. I also had to just stick in there for a couple weeks for my body to adjust. A good read is Dr Jason Fungs books. I noticed from your information you really have a busy life and encourage you to maybe check on your own stress level and sleep. Have you done some nice things for yourself? "Hug"

17 eggs? 17 oz cheese??? thats an insane amount!!! it is not the pie pictured..that one has a crust, and it also looks like there is something else in there..something green,,,If you try it let me know how it comes out...
just figured it, divided by 6. per serving , with no crust or veg, its 3 carbs, 77 g fat, and 26.6 g protein..one slice is half your protein for the entire day. carbs are good...fat is really high...but protein..yikes! and remember thats WITHOUT crust...personally i'd go with one more traditional with heavy cream and eggs and a smaller amount of cheese..but thats me!!

Cheese Quiche! 17 eggs, 17oz cheese, 2 sticks butter, and half a block of cream cheese. 81% fat. Saw this on a wall post from my other team LCHF Might try myself only half the recipe and throw in odds and ends for a breakfast quiche. Most likely bacon or sausage and a green. Start with a keto crust, and heres what u get.

Eeeeek - turns out I am constantly eating less that 1500 calories a day - I guess I need to add some more to my diet. I'm gonna try adding more egg yolks when I made eggs. Any other suggestions?

I would love your breakfast sandwich recipe. The diet book I have been using has been all lean meat like ground turkey and pork loin. This is mind blowing. Mark my husband loves steak, was so sad he had to give it up. So we both love sausage, pizza style and hamburger and steak. I am a little nervous venturing from this book, but you are doing so great, I trust what you are doing. You are a great leader to our team:)

Wanda truth is if you can NOT snack its better. every time you eat ANYTHING your insulin reacts. you want to prevent that all you can...so if you can do without snacks and just do 3 meals a day, thats best.

heres what i do..not perfect but it works for me:

breakfast:choose from these
eggs and bacon (2 slices bacon, then scramble the eggs in butter AND the bacon grease. if you tend to get hungry put cream cheese in, too, and heavy cream if you like

or
waffles i make with eggs, cream cheese and baking powder...2 slices bacon. butter

or
a fat shake..

1/4-1/3 c heavy cream
2-3 eggs
a tablespoon of coconut oil (optional)
some flavoring..my current favorite is caramel. its no sugar, found with the vanilla in the store
1-2 packets of stevia or a teaspoon or 2 of erythritol
2 ice cubes. i put it all in my magic bullet and let it rip till the ice is crushed

or..made ahead egg muffins...these are sausage and egg and if you are interested i have the recipe. it makes i think 12..i make them and put them in a ziplock and pop 2 in the microwave for a quick breakfast

Lunch

summer sausage (check label to be sure its compliant)
or pepperoni (label again)
or simms beef sticks from Aldi

and some cheese. i like extra sharp, or edam. i sometimes take some black olives, too..but usually its just the meat and cheese
or instead of meat i do hard boiled eggs..i peel them pop them in a mug with a tablespoon of butter (break them first or they explode..dont ask how i know) and some salt and pepper. i warm them on high in the microwave for 40 seconds then mash the whole mess together.

supper
whatever fatty meat i have..tonite its strip steak from the day old case at my store..$3.
a spinach or romaine salad with cheese, oil and vinegar
sometimes i cook mushrooms with the steak.

other good veg in place of the salad..zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli..just be aware of carb counts on veg.

i also like tea.

if you are low in fat..add butter to everything. olive oil. coconut oil. eat the skin on chicken and opt for the dark meat when you can. 80% hamburger and dont drain it. choose fatty cuts of meat...well marbled steak. pork belly. i do pork roasts in the smoker and leave the fat on. My butcher sells beef fat..i also buy that and cut thin slices and freeze..if i get a roast or steak that isnt fatty i lay some over it. it gets crisp and juicy and is wonderful and adds healthy fat to your meal.

be careful to watch the carb counts. if you like avocado dont free for all..its pretty high in carbs. macadamia nuts or pecans are good..but way high in carbs and protein so you can only have a few.

you will get it!! it gets easier as you get favorites. i have tons of recipes if you want any..just tell me what you like!!

If u can handle it, and will eat them. I used to when I first started eat pork rinds, and made a mayonnaise, black olive dip (olives already chopped), very simple. It took the place of potato chips for me, and just a couple of carbs.
Yeah u do need to increase those calories, and if your exercising you need to add in those calories you will burn. Or you will decrease your metabolism, and get nowhere. I only know this because I went through so many diet plans, including starvation. Never again, after learning what that did to my system. We learn, eventually what really works for us.
Eggs are the real help. If u like deviled eggs, u can make ahead. I make them with mayo and sweet leaf, and dijon mustard. No sugar needed (meaning no sweet relish) and they are yummy!!!

Found this while looking up your keto diet.

You are all so great! I am following a guide book plan, "the complete ketogenic diet of beginners" The plan has the balance of calories to fat, protein and carbs, but I just added up my calories and it totaled 950 for the day. They offer optional snacks, but I don't snack because I don't have time to make the addt'l food. So I obviously I need more. Thank you all. What is a good meal plan for a non snacker to follow?

What is a days worth of eating for you? 2 red flags. Weighing in too often, and Salt. Try not to do either for a couple of days, and see if that helps. I still can't feel that maybe you are eating something either in calories, over extending it? I find that adding more (good) fat like avocados for one that if I were to have any cravings (which I don't) that would help.

There is an obvious reason for it.

Getting and staying healthy is not an option, it's a lifestyle.

Holly,
Good point, besides Keto... which is only some information, what are Wanda's calories etc.

Maybe it's Keto, but too low on calories. More info please.

I agree with Pippamouse but i'll add:

stay off the scale if you can. it lies. and its NOT a good represenatation of whats going on. maybe you drank more water. maybe your body felt the water flushing out salt and said lets store salt. you dont know.

I'm not familiar with what plan you are using? can you enlighten us so we can take a look??

most people shouldnt be eating less than 1500 cals a day. Its suggested in the beginning you not limit cals at all..get your carbs under control..then worry about the rest.
generally accepted keto goals for women:

under 20 gm total carbs
under 60 grams protein
the rest fat, but at least double protein, so a minimum of 120 grams.

again, if you can let us know what you are eating, and what this program is you are doing, maybe we can help...one of the joys of keto is no hunger or cravings once you have the initial days of getting carbs out of your system.

In my opinion the beauty, and to some extent, the point of Keto is to learn to listen to our bodies. I still struggle with this. Daily. But just because the "plan" says to eat this or that, that may not be what our bodies need just then. Keep in mind our body doesn't read the book. Allow for space and variability of what your body needs. Mind you, this isn't making excuses to over eat, but if you are feeling hungry, eat. Let your macros and your body be your guide. Are you getting enough protein? Protein at each meal? Still feeling hungry, eat more fat. Also, for me, the more carbs I eat, even vegetable based ones, the more my body feels hungry.

Also, don't worry about the daily fluctuation of weight. So many things go into weight changes. Hormone fluctuations can totally account for weight changes and changes to our appetite/hunger. My suggestion is never let one or two days dictate a huge change. If your body is hungry, feed it well, stick to your macros and see how you do at the end of the week. This is marathon, not a sprint.

Hi everyone:) I'm in the second week of "The complete ketogenic diet for beginners" plan. Yesterday I was soooooo hungry it was hard to continue. I made it through yesterday, but gained 6oz. Now I am starving again. I make all the recipes, measure everything. What should I do. I'm worried about adding anything extra. I did drink tons more water and salted my food yesterday. Would love any ideas.
