An ounce is 28 grams. You are saying that meat is mostly water (or fat). I read that once but never actually thought in those terms. What is the ratio of protein in meat? And does it change depending on the type?

The things I have watched seem to discuss 4-5 ounces of MEAT.

JWCOLBY,
I always suggest people eat for their ideal weight, not their current weight. If you take the standard advice:
ww.healthline.com/nutrition/how-much
-p
rotein-per-day

of 0.36 grams of protein per pound of body weight, and you actually weight 350 pounds that gives you 126 grams of protein per day, or about 500 grams of meat, well over a pound.

But I think one needs to eat for the weight one ought to be. My ideal weight is 155 pounds, so 56 grams of protein, about 7 ounces of meat. Of course if I got protein from other sources during the day, like from eggs, and bacon etc. then even a 7 ounce steak might be "big".

A Keto diet needs to be low to moderate Protein as well. That threw me off until I understood that. For my size, 4 oz of protein a day. Not much by my "16 oz steak" perspective. emoticon

Hi Cheriboo, thanks. I posted on the technical help site, there is a mistake, for sure, given that I ate no carbs at lunch:)

This has happened to me too a few times. It seems like it is usually one entry/specific line item that throws the entire thing off.

Can you screen print your nutrition for that day? Maybe I can figure it out. You net carbs should be way lower. I agree there is something wrong.

Thank you again! For instance, I thought I had 16 g of carbs yesterday but 8g of those were fiber, so that puts me at 8g net for the day and the net carbs tracker in the full day report said 57g. I have no idea what that number means? Does anyone else have issues with the net carb tracker?

You can do it that way certainly but what I did at first is I didn't calculate the correct portions. Make sure that the serving size for the egg is correct and that whoever entered that info about the egg entered it correctly. I find it easier sometimes to create my own foods that way I know it's correct.

What I wonder is: Can I simply subtract the fiber from carbs for each item in each meal to get an idea? I would like to know how I am doing per food item and per meal. Is that a sound way to do this?

Thank you so much, PrincessAng77!
I tried to add "Net carbs" but the result is all wrong- I ate an egg and it showed that I ate 476 net carbs. That is insane:) maybe there is a glitch in the system - I will try again later on tonight.
Thanks!

It took me a moment to figure this out at first. Go to "My Trackers" and then click on "My nutrition" at the bottom you'll see "edit nutrition" and then you can edit each section. This is how mine looks now...

Hello everyone,

I have been following Keto since Feb 9, 2018 and I am very happy with my progress (16 pounds down). I have used my Sparkpeople calculator to keep my carbs under 20g but I realized today that this calculator does not seem to subtract the fiber from the carbohydrates. Am I doing this wrong? Is there a way I can set my keto macros specifically in Sparkpeople? I have been doing what I thought was lazy keto which I found was very easy for me to follow without worrying much about nutrients. All I did was trying to be under 20 g carbs (calculated by Sparkpeople) and I did not care about the total no of calories). I am so full that I think I average 700 calories per day at most. I am short (5'3) and I have very small bones and a small frame and a very low basal metabolic rate (measured a few years ago before the weight gain and it was too loweven for my weight at the time = 126 pounds). If I eat more than that I stall or gain, but honestly I have a hard time eating more since I am never hungry, except for the week before my period (TMI, sorry). I know this is too low but I am a vegetarian , I do not eat dairy or any grains so there is a lot of food fitted within this caloric intake. I am actually doing a very strict vegetarian paleo-keto. Sorry for the long post. Thank you all in advance for any comments.
