My 2 cents is in line with the others. I, personally wouldnt drink this unless it was a true "nothing else is available and I am starving" emergency. I prefer to eat my carbs and protein. Not only does that lead to feeling more satisfied (because your mouth did the work) but also seems to just stick with me longer than these. If I don't get to eat my food i feel "munchy" later in the day and want to snack just because that process isn't fulfilled for me. Also, these types of products, even if not overly sweet often make me want more of it.

That said, that is what I have learned about my body. I would not tell you that you shouldn't have these. I would caution you about drinking your cal/carb/protein vs eating it. I would caution you about half of your daily protein goal in one drink. But if this is something that makes life and keto easier for you, if you still achieve the benefits you are looking for: no carb cravings, no inflammation, weight/inches lost, sleep, clear mind, clear skin, etc, then give it a shot.

Please note..the 1 gram “sugar” is NOT in the form of sugar. It’s just what is counted as sugars, and you will see that in most natural foods, also.
As James and I said..for an occasional time, I think it’s ok. I’ve been known to grab a low carb bar from Aldi for a plane trip or if I have no refrigeration for my normal food. It’s FAR better than goingvwith anything high carb!!!

And when you are deciding on total or net carb, google the apology and recanting from the doctor that started the whole net carb thing. It’s what changed my mind to total carbs. Make your decision with facts and proven information. I truly wish fiber carbs were as innocent as we thought. They aren’t. Still an individual decision, better made with correct info.

Oh man, ... this is a tough one, and I'm going to waffle as there are competing goals:
- low carb
- right amount of protein
- quick breakfast

I have some "Premier Protein" chocolate drinks in the house, so I can look at the exact nutrition too. I probably average about one to two per month, mostly when I'm on the road.

With a 60 gram target of daily protein, this is half of that in one drink. I've done some terrible experiments on myself with protein powder, and not measuring a rise in blood sugar, so I'm not sure if 30 grams of protein would raise blood sugar. But its a lot of quickly digested protein in one go, not like meat at all in that respect.

It does have a mess of chemicals, and I too feel that if you have trouble pronouncing them, then that is not good. Even if you practice, and can later pronounce them, that is still isn't good.

Bottom line, ... 1 gram of sugar won't keep you from going into ketosis. I'd count he drink as 5 grams of carbs, not 1 gram of sugar. That probably fits into a daily target of 20 to 25. I'd lean towards eating real food, but out of all the possible things one could do (like eat toast with jam) this drink is not terrible.

You need to keep you carbs below a certain level for the day. Check out the thread on the main team page called 'Low Carb Food list' and the 'For those new to keto'.

Whether you eat sugar or not is up to you. Whether you keep your cabs below 20 g total, or 120 g net (subtracting the fiber) is up to you. You do you. There are so very many way of doing keto!! Research and then try it out, is my way...and give it a week, maybe a month. Then weigh and measure (waist, hips whatever) and evaluate how do you feel, are you knees still aching, how are you sleeping, how is your hunger?... If you're feeling good and you're losing weight or inches the keto on!

Every body behaves so drastically different. Just my 2 cents

just looked it up. here is the breakdown:

Each shake contains 30g of protein with all the essential amino acids, 160 calories, 1g sugar, low fat, 24 vitamins and minerals, 5g carbs

and ingredients:Water, Premier Protein Shake Protein Blend (Milk Protein Concentrate, Calcium Caseinate, Whey Protein Concentrate), Cocoa Powder (processed with alkali), Contains 1% or less of the following: High Oleic Sunflower Oil, Inulin, Cellulose Gel and Cellulose Gum, Magnesium Phosphate, DATEM, Salt, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium, Carrageenan, Vitamin and Mineral Blend (Sodium Ascorbate [Vitamin C], dl-alpha Tocopheryl Acetate [Vitamin E], Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Biotin, Vitamin A Palmitate, Niacinamide, Potassium Iodide, Copper Amino Acid Chelate, Calcium D-Pantothenate, Chromium Chloride, Cyanocobalamin [Vitamin B12], Phytonadione [Vitamin K], Sodium Molybdate, Sodium Selenite, Folic Acid, Cholecalciferol [Vitamin D3], Pyridoxine Hydrochloride [Vitamin B6], Thiamine Mononitrate [Vitamin B1], Riboflavin [Vitamin B2]), Ferric Orthophosphate, Manganese Sulfate, Tripotassium Phosphate, Dipotassium Phosphate, Sodium Polyphosphate.

personally I wouldnt use them unless it was an emergency. WAY high in protein..thats over half your day in protein! and i dont put anything in my mouth i cant pronounce..lol
That said, it isnt going to kill you. it could keep you out of ketosis depending on the rest of your day...and how your body reacts to sucralose. plus the other stuff i have no clue what is. I would save this for an occasional treat.

I don't do breakfast as I'm not hungry first thing in the morning, so I drink one of the Premier Protein drinks pretty much every morning. My ketostrips have shown me in ketosis for the last week.

Good luck!

Will the one gram of sugar in these Premier Protien drinks keep me from going "into ketosis"?
