I agree with Holly's numbers, 50 to 60 grams a day.

That is all you need for lean mass (muscles, ...) maintanence. More than that and the body will burn it as fuel, and it will raise blood sugar and get an insulin reaction, and impact weight loss.

In short, too much protein impacts weight loss and not just due to the calories.

Thanks Holly, I will check that out.

Today my strategy was being super aware of protein at lunch (since I didn't preplan it) and then knowing what I had planned for dinner. As of now, having finished dinner I have 51g protein in.

Based on the comments in this feed I went back over all my tracked data for the past 3 months. I had upped the amount of protein in my tracker to the .5 per lb. minimum suggested in some of the online forums. that pushed my "need" to around 100 g. I only got over that on one day! Actually my normal intake is a lot lower and much closer to the numbers recommended here. I am now going to "repair" my tracker target to lower numbers.

It is so helpful having everyone else's input on these "little" issues. Love SP!

Thats what I thought. I think I need to cut back on chicken and shrimp. Or at least be MUCH better about serving size.

I will work on being more intentional about what I am planning, esp for multiple meals in the same day.

you really want to stay lower in protein if you can. a max of 75 gm a day for women..according to my coach i should try for under 60. Boursin cheese..low in protein and tasty. cream cheese. pork belly. use egg yolks not whites..most of the protein is in the whites. fattier meats like well marbled beef instead of chicken.
its one of my big problems. i love cheese and meat..and both have pretty high protein so i have to measure or i go over.

The Keto calculator I used suggested 60-70 g of protein a day. Looking back at the last 30 days, there are only 30 when I've been under 70, and 6 more where I'm still in the 70s.

Any suggestions to reduce protein? I am looking back at my tracker tonight to see if it is portions of meat at meals or the addition of cheeses and other dairy with protein.

Or, should I not worry about getting protein lower? I would say that Im pretty consistently under 100g, with the outlying data of eating out (two times in the last 35 days)
