Glad I could help!

I really like cucumber and mint, and I also really like ginger and citrus peel... I just feed the rest of the fruit to my daughter, LOL.

If you like bubbles, I HIGHLY recommend the soda stream... the mid-range price model. We love ours... and three CO2 canisters get us through a month... so $45 for 120 litres of sparkling water.

In other words, why does this 'cure' suck so bad?

Ramona, what GREAT ideas for water infusions! Absolutely love them, I'll have to give it a whirl. I do drink seltzers and sparkling waters pretty frequently, I like the bubbles :)

Cucumber and mint sounds fantastic, though, to put in the pitcher.

Interesting question!

Bottom line: it really does depend on how insulin resistant you are.

Diabetes/Atkins Induction forums say that fruit infused water can very much impact your ketone/BG levels, and they discourage the practice, but apparently once you are strongly keto-adapted fruit infused water likely has a negligible effect. "?"

I think considering your own personal triggers is an important point, too. If you miss fruit, it could make cravings worse, or it could take the edge off... it really does depend on your own physical/emotional response. A glucose meter would be helpful to test and see if your BG goes up and stays up significantly after drinking a decent quantity of the infused water. If it does, you have your answer.

There are options though that wouldn't invite an insulin response:
-- cucumber & mint
-- other fresh herbs (I love basil, rosemary, parsley... bruise one a little and add to water)
-- fresh ginger & mint
-- citrus peel/zest & cinnamon sticks (if you don't want to waste the fruit, you can just buy dehydrated)
-- citrus & ginger
-- whole spices like cardamom, star anise, & nutmeg
-- cucumber & fresh ginger
-- iced herbal fruit teas

Again, depending on your carb sensitivity, and the total carbs you consume in a day, one lemon or lime infused (not squeezed)... so an average of about 3 carbs... over the whole course of the day may not be a big deal for you. You're doing a pitcher over two days... so not a lot of carb at one time. If your keto/weight loss is going well despite the water, then you likely have nothing to worry about.

Have you considered sparkling water? We bought a soda stream at Christmas this year, and it has paid for itself four times over, and A LOT more water is being consumed around here... turns out we all like bubbles, LOL. We don't use any of the flavour syrups (though there are 0 -carb options), or anything... we just prefer sparkling water to still.

personally...i wouldnt do it. i dont even use lemon..its still high in carbs. 5 grams of carb in a lemon..i stay under 10 carbs most days so thats HALF my allowance...nope not gonna happen for me. plus..the ONE thing i miss the most on this is fruit, so, if i started, i'd want more. but thats just me..
i would figure whatever the carb count for that fruit is into my daily allowance. and plan accordingly...
when i was at disney in april, the spa we went to had cucumber water. i assume it was just..cucumbers sliced into water lol..i love plain water...i have a wonderful well that produces water that tastes really sweet to me..so i dont have a problem with plain..but this cucumber stuff was awesome!!

I would say that it depends on the fruit. Lemons OK... strawberries... perhaps not. I am interested to see what others think. I don't know enough to give a good answer.

So, I've been trying to up my water intake this past year or so and I find that I really enjoy slicing up fruit and adding it to the pitcher of water I keep in the fridge.
I don't actually eat the fruit, I dump it out/change it up every other day.
Is this a Keto no-no?
Am I picking up lots of extra sugar/carbs by doing this?
Does it hurt the Keto WOE to add sliced fruit to water or seltzer?
