NIGHTSKYSTAR - Same, I haven't tracked but when I do record, nothing is over 1400, except the processed sausages I ate because I didn't prep. But even that was only 1900 at the end of the day. Average healthy human eats 2000 +/- per day so I felt I was doing great. :)

I mean, I must have been doing something right, because I lost this week.

Welcome!! I tracked everything I ate the first 4 months. Now in my fifth month I track every other day. I don't restrict calories, but no matter what I have. Ever seen them go over 1400 cals.

I have a binder. Foods are alphabetical, one per page. I've gone to nutritiondata to get my information. To make the math easier, and to make foods comparable I always set the quantity to 100 grams, which is actually a pretty normal quantity. A cup of water weighs about 250 grams, and a pound is 454 grams, so 100 grams is an average quantity.

So if I google "nutritiondata strawberries" I find this page:
nutritiondata.self.com/facts/fruits-
an
d-fruit-juices/2064/2

Set the serving size to 100 grams, and then copy sme stuff onto a binder page:

Strawberries (100 g)
Calories (32)
Carbs (5.7 g). --- This is their 7.7 number, but subtracting fibre out
Fat (0.7 g)
Protein (0.3 g)

If I eat a bowl of strawberries, and it has 80 grams of strawberries, I just to a little math.

On the other hand, if you look up the same stuff for blueberries, you will get 12.1 grams of net carbs per 100 grams.

I generally eat up to 6% (strawberries are 5.7% as just seen). The closer to 6% the more careful I am. Blueberries, at 12.1% are really out of range. I taste a few now and then, and I'm talking 5 berries. If I wanted to eat anything like a bowl of blueberries, then I'd be weighing and counting. Let's say the blueberries in my bowl weighted 120 grams, so 12.1% of that is about 15 grams. My daily target is about 30 grams of carbs 40 at the very most. Does 15 fit into that without making the rest of my day restrictive? Probably not. So a bowl of blueberries is probably out.

As for Keto and PCOS. I have no idea. But I see Keto as very healthy, certainly healthier than what I ate before (honey nut Cheerios, cake, cookies ...).

You will have to tell us how you are doing with the keto/PCOs. I wish I would have done keto in my younger years, then I may have had an easier time of having children although having Aunt Flo only visit every 8 or 9 months was a real positive. Feel free to ask any questions and share what's going on with you.

Thank you for the reply, and thanks for letting me know you also have PCOS. I have read mixed opinions on Keto for PCOS, but after doing research, Keto really makes sense. it is really encouraging to hear from someone else who feels the same.

Count what you like. Certainly calories matter if you want to loose weight. At times I've counted grams of carbs, fibre, protein and fat, as well as calories.

It is just that a few weeks into Keto, with ones hunger under control (hunger not fueled by carbs) if gets easier to just plain eat.

But I would count everything for a month or two. Then you are aware of where carbs come from and can make more "instinctive" choices with less calculation. For example I do eat strawberries, but if I hadn't weighed and calculated at some point, then I wouldn't have known how big a bowl fits into my plan. It's not a big bowl, but I can manage some.

I count calories more for the reason that your friend states.... it's easy not to get enough calories and I know that for myself, if I don't get enough calories, I shut down. BTW.... I also have PCOs and I wholeheartedly believe that Keto is the best for the condition.

Hey guys,
I am on day 2 of Keto, and so far I am enjoying it. Particularly the fact that I have not felt hungry yet.

I am doing Keto in an attempt to lose weight. I have seen others on here posting that they DO NOT count calories while on Keto, they only count grams of carbs.
Personally, I am tracking everything I eat to makes sure my percentages of Macro's are where they are supposed to be, and also being mindful of where my calories should be at for weight loss.

I'm wondering how everyone feel's about this. My friend who does Keto doesn't count calories because he says it is really hard to over-eat on this diet, but, he has also been doing it for a while now.

I'd love to get some feedback on what you guys find works best for you.
