My grandson is a state champion weight lifter...he is so fit so when I need help I go to him. When he gets ready to compete he always worries about protein and that is when he goes steak (Protein) crazy. You are absolutely right it builds muscles and tones them ...then the work out you do sets the scale to where you want to go with it. I was told to do sets of 15 quick repetitions so I don't build bulk only strength. I am older and live on a farm, but my upper body is very strong...I can lift 80 lbs of grain and hay without breaking a sweat, I can handle my horses without any worries. However these days I am trying to lose weight and get my lower body back in order .... I just went through two knee replacements followed by an auto accident that shattered my right foot and lower leg completely. I no longer can walk very well or bend, or use my legs the way I could before. So at the moment I am working on getting that back in some sort of condition that will allow me to continue my daily life.

I am the wrong one to ask about a diet...since I am trying my best to fine one myself. Good luck to both of us.

Hi Flo,

Is there a particular reason why you want a high protein diet? If you are, be careful. Too much protein can cause problems. Technically speaking protein is a huge molecule. In other words, if consumed in large quantities your body will have a hard time metabolizing it. It is especially hard for your kidney's to process. It's best to stick with what is recommended by your daily nutritional goals. I'm sure you have already noticed but your nutrition tracker tells you how much protein you need.

Good luck!
