I had the oddest craving for a Heath Bar, so instead of obsessing endlessly about it, I went ahead and had the sugar. But am back on track, focusing on protein, healthy fats and veggies, with an organic tomato thrown in for my fruit.

I have also been craving salt. Satiating that craving with sunflower seeds and a NM Beef Jerky that has no sugars, some have green chile, some have red chile. Even the plain is wonderful, though. Salty, yes. But for me, that works!

I've decided to 'personalize' the hunger hormone known as Ghrelin - I visualize it as a gremlin-type entity livin' happily in my belly like Rosemary's Baby (ick).

Sometimes, the Ghrelin is quiet, content with the protein/fat/fiber that washes over it and keeps it calm and happy like a mental-ward patient on a high dose of Thorazine...

Other times, the Ghrelin is...almost literally.. like a Gremlin that's had water poured on it. Voracious, destructive and pretty darn out of control.
