Starting a cleanse this week. Got an approved list of foods I can have. I tried almond butter for the first time. Never had it. It wasnโ€™t too bad! I made a trip to the healthy store, Sprouts and got glueten free things and some veggies and fruit. And hummus.

My coworker has THE BEST RECIPE:

Rainbow Snacking Salad

Bell peppers (use colorful ones for more fun!), diced
Juice of one lime
shallots, minced
Cucumber, cut into small chunks
fresh herbs, rough chopped (try mint, or basil, or something seasonal!)
olive oil

salt and pepper just before eating. You can make this in a big vat and it will last all week. it is the perfect blend of crunchy and tangy. If you want it creamier, add avocado chunks too.

My favorite snack right now everyone is very simple. I have a bowl that you can microwave popcorn in, so you can use regular popcorn and not have it in those bags. The big Pop Secret popcorn has big kernels so it's much fluffier and more kernel pop than Orville Reddenbacher's.

If you don't mind the spray butter that makes it even tastier. I love the microwave bowl much better than the bags. I can control what I'm eating and it doesn't have that different taste. The microwave bowl popcorn smells much better.

The only difference from these microwave bowls and a regular bowl is the shape, it's more like a bowl-cone-ish shape and it has a lid with vents for the steam. This is better than hot air because the steam moistens the popcorn a bit for salt to stick (if you use salt).

The bowl I got was less than $10 and it doubles as a mixing bowl :)

I hope you do and enjoy them! I am all about flexing my creative muscle in the kitchen.

Few more: My mom loves fried rice but refuses to try healthier versions so I made fried rice but added since quinoa, coconut aminos and egg whites. She loved it.

- when I'm craving pizza I make Cauliflower Pizza Crust but on the fly I will also make a pizza quesadilla.

- sweet potato roasted with skin on and I eat it as a snack right out the fridge.

- speaking of sweet potatoes, I like twice baked sweet potatoes with black beans and peppers.

- zucchini boats are easy and so good. Really versatile with lots of combinations.

I have tons of these lol cause I live in my kitchen:

Snacks:
-Cucumber and cottage cheese
-Cottage cheese and Crunchmaster multi-seed crackers (they satisfy my chip craving)
-Lentil hummus
-A half serving of chocolate almond special K when I was battling sweet cravings.

Food:
-Zucchini and Mushroom with crushed tomatoes and ground turkey
-Stuffed pepper with ground chicken and quinoa
-a new one for me is adding quinoa to my scrambled eggs with spinach
-I also add things to my pancake mix (I don't like sweet pancakes) like scallions, quinoa, cauliflower, zucchini.
-Cauliflower fried rice and also Quinoa and Brown fried rice

I could go on and on but I'll stop there emoticon

For those who need more fibre, steel cut oatmeal has 8 grams of fibre in a half cup of dry cereal. I kind of went way over my fibre goal today since I started with it with blueberries this morning

Vegetable Stir Fry. I like fresh vegetables but sometimes I get a bag of frozen vegetables and stir fry. I use one chicken breast and dice it up and add it to the stir fry. I prefer Chinese spices, however I have to be very careful of the sodium! emoticon

This is a tip I got from when I "attempted to go vegan" emoticon couldn't quite commit. Either way I learned a lot of healthy eating tips from them. This is one I still incorporate today.



Recipe:

First, I start by putting half a cup of ice into my "NutriBullet"
Second, I add a cup of almond breeze milk or "whichever milk you may prefer"
Third, I add in my protein powder packet followed by a half of cup of spinach
**Believe it or not, I can't taste the spinach**
Last, I blend it together for a powerful protein shake! It carries me up to lunch. emoticon

**The protein packs I got from Kroger in their natural food section**

**This is one of my favorites for a good protein source**
80% Protein and very little sugar

Hi team, carrot sticks with some hummus.

Rice cake with tablespoon of peanut butter and half banana sliced on top.

1 bag Jolly Time 100 calorie pop corn

1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese on top of either strawberries or on top of 2 slices of tomato.

Apple slices with tablespoon of peanut butter

My favorite tips are lean cuisines, Eating well dinners, and healthy choice meals. When I have a sweet craving I just do a small cup of hot cocoa.

What I love about these is the texture. It's nice and thick and low in calories. You can always add fruit or nuts to it to give it that extra something.
