What helps me to stay on track is starting my morning off with a high protein plant based shake followed by a 30 - 45 minute workout. When I'm consistent with this it really sets the tone for my entire day.

@Karmexo

Here you go! Sorry I'm so late! I emailed it to you as well.

Soup Ingredients

One bunch of Kale
Pack of shredded Carrots
Wacky Mac veggie noodles
Either one chicken breast shredded or you can bake some chicken legs "Easy on the seasonings" let them cool, remove skin and add them into the pot. "This is my preferred way"
1 box of Chicken "Low Sodium" Broth "I would get the generic brand"
1 box of chicken bouillon cubes "Low Sodium"
Ginger seasoning
Hot or Medium Picante Sauce
Thyme

Cooking Instructions:

Preheat stove to medium high while adding in your "Chicken Broth" be sure to add between three to four cups of water.

**Also you should be using a somewhat large pan***

Once ingredients come to a boil add in your "low sodium" bouillan cubes, I would start with four.

Once it's at a boil you can now add your Kale and your carrots and turn the stove to medium low. Make sure your stare it every 15 minutes and taste it for taste. "Now you can add your own ingredients but watch out for "SODIUM" salt can really swell us up and cause us to retain water.

Now you can add a little ginger for taste. May sound weird but taste good.

Add a pinch of "Thyme" Be careful "Thyme is really strong"

Remove chicken from oven, and skin once cooled. Remove chicken from the bone "This may be a little time consuming" add chicken into the soup.

Add a touch of picante sauce

Add Wacky Mac noodles last for you don't want them to become to mushy.

***You want to cook the soup until the Kale gets soft*** I would say roughly a good hour!

I'm going to add this under the forum topic you created as well, so I can add pictures! Let me know if you have any questions. The secret is in the broth.

***These are examples*** Of course you can use variations.

Hi hello everyone. I'm finally back! That was a very long break and I missed my workouts! I missed the burn and even the next day soreness. That being said.....

On my first day back, I completed both my challenges.

Squats 65
bridges 5
standing leg curls 10

Although it feels like I did not do enough, I am staying on course and doing the reps called for on that day. Happy day!

I'm doing this because I LOVE ME!

Friendly, funny and working on the fit part, join me?

When all else fails, laugh!

Because working out and pushing past the pain and excuses is my new drug!

I stay on track by cooking my own meals. I also make left over meals so I don't go out and they are easy because I can heat them in the microwave or pop them in the oven while I do other things. This way I don't stop and get fast food. I also have one cheat day a week that I allow myself. It is great. There are weeks, when I just don't stay on track but I get right back on as soon as I can. I don't beat myself up when I go off. Sometimes it happens I think positive and as my doctor said don't deny yourself anything. Just remember portion size. It does work. Good Luck.

@KARMEXO You know honestly it can be challenging when it comes to finances and eating healthy while trying to stay on track. When I had my lows financially I would make home made soups. My sister got me into this and I couldn't believe how cheap the ingredients were and the soup didn't taste to bad; however I know the key is that we have to find something we can mentally handle and not reject in our eating habits. In my soups I use "Kale and Carrots" for my vegetables and I use "Vegetable Noodles". I will probably add in a shredded chicken breast along with light seasonings! I say the meal was under $10.00 but the soup lasted close to a week. I would freeze half of it. If your interested let me know I can send you the full recipe and screen shot the noodles I use.

Also what helps me is remembering how for I came, you reminded me of this when you tried on a pair of your old jeans. I think many of us worry about how far we need to go and don't relinquish on small victories. Also remember working out in the home works wonders for us as well! For example, let's say just starting a person does a 15 minute routine. This routine can be broken down as follows:

5 Minutes Arms to include:
Arm rotations "10 forward 10 backwards
Wall Pushups how many you feel comfortable for a set
If you don't have weights in the house you can use "Soup Cans" and use them as weights while pressing your arms up and down.
***Keep rotating this out until you hit "5 Minutes"***

5 Minutes Abs to include:
How many situps you feel comfortable with
Trunk Twists How many you feel comforable
Side stretches "Sort of like your leaning to the side like a tree with one hand on your hip and the other hand reaching towards the sky. Than rotate out on the other side.

5 Minutes Cardio:
Marching in place 2 minutes
Jogging in place 1 minute
Marching in place 2 minutes

In the near future I'm going to create a blog and try to upload a video of myself working out in the house in the attempt to help and encourage others. It really helps on those days when the weather is ugly or we just don't feel like going to the gym.

Remember we got your back and we're rooting for you! emoticon emoticon

@findyourfit you asked how I was doing at staying on track. I havent been doing very well at all. I havent exercised in over a week (partly due to the heat) and I have went over my calories a couple times. Right now my problem is being on a tight budget. I am not really overeating at all, its the foods that I can afford to buy are high in calories. For example: flour, noodles, potato's stuff like that. I have a small garden growing so when It is ready to harvest that will help with me getting vegetables in. So things are looking up, its just hard right now, I'm not giving up though, going to get back to exercise soon I just have to get my motivation back. One thing that motivated me this week is I put on a pair of my big jeans and they almost fell off of me. It got me to thinking, wow, I've lost some weight and I dont want to gain it all back lol. So hopefully I can get things straightened out and get back on track soon. I'm going to start by weighing myself as soon as my scale batteries charge up. I'm going to take accountability for my weight and then do the best I can after that.

I believe the number one factor on staying on track is to have a daily plan for the day. Plan your meals for the day and schedule a exercise routine around the same time everyday. I prefer the mornings for later in the evening it's very easy to get of track.

thank you, and I have also found that I have to cheat every now and then to. When I feel deprived of something sweet for so long, I will eventually cave in and then eat everything. If I allow myself to eat something sweet every once in a while instead of never that seems to help me to.

These are some wonderful ideas! One thing that helps me and my husband is that we have two cheat days a week. For example Mon, Tue, clean eating staying within my 1200 calorie range. Wednesday I may eat breakfast like hot cakes and sausage from McDonalds and the rest of the day I'm eating extremely healthy so I do not go to far over my calorie range. Than on Thur, Fri, clean eating, and either Saturday or Sunday we would do take out. Everyone is different with what works for them. For myself I like to have two days out the week where I eat what I want "not all day" but for one meal substitution. This keeps me on track and also printing out a weekly meal plan! This has been golden for us! emoticon

thank you for the good ideas, one thing I always try to do is log down my food in my nutrition tracker even if I have a bad day, that way I am always accountable.

Hi Karmexo!

I completely understand. I too have this problem. I love to workout! I workout often. I've gained muscle and lost some inches. I never gain weight, but I lose slowly because I don't eat the best. What I've been doing lately, which is working, is prepping my food. I'm on a tight budget so I shop smart. I love meat, so I usually bake chicken or fish with a ton of veggies. It's easy and quick. I have a lot of Tupperware. I ALWAYS have a meal ready to eat. This stops me from eating "fast" food. When I have a sweet tooth I snack on grapes, watermelon and sometimes skinny cow ice cream. I ALWAYS have a cucumber or banana nearby. I eat 6 times a day (3 meals, 3 snacks), so I have to make sure it's not too high in calories. So I thought of healthy things (I actually enjoy eating) and started buying it. I've lost 4 pounds since I started this. It's been 2 weeks. Saturdays, I'm not so hard on myself. I eat a treat, but I don't go crazy lol. Another huge help is me telling that voice in my head to shut up! You know that voice that says it's ok to have a bag of chips, or cake, or cookies, or...shall I continue? LOL. Logging also helps. I have a huge calendar at my desk, and I put a star everyday that I exercise and eat healthy. A different star for each. Not seeing a star or both :-) would drive me nuts as well as motivate me. Also I have a buddy I txt everyday to talk about the exercising or eating we've done. (let me know if you wanna do that, I wouldn't mind 2 buddies :-)

That's wonderful you've lost so much weight! Keep it off! Hope I could help.

I am in need of some ideas to remain on track all the time. I am doing good with the exercise portion of it. I have been getting in exercise around 5 days a week since september. However, when it comes to the healthy eating and staying within my calorie limits I don't do as well. I will do well for a week at a time then do not so well for a week. I have lost and regained the same 5 pounds since April. I feel like I'm getting nowhere lol. I know I cant give up and I don't even want to give up because if I do my weight would spiral out of control again and I would gain back the 50 + pounds I have lost already. I just would love to have some ideas about this. I have been trying to lose weight for about a year now and have lost some slowly by just watching my portion sizes and counting calories. I cant afford a lot of healthy foods so I just eat basic foods like meat, potatoes, bread. So do you think I can still lose weight and stay on track without eating all the real healthy foods like I have been doing so far?
