Vicki,

Your goals sound good! I too have been hanging around without much activity. Working today and this weekend to clearly define my own goals. Hope to see you around!

Hi, I'm Vicki!
So, I've been in this group for a while, but haven't been that active. I've been trying to lose weight for years, and have tried just about everything. In 2015 I tried a fast approach with prepackaged meals. It worked great until the cost of the program drove my family into so much debt that I had to cancel it. Then it came back.

This year I am going to try the opposite approach. I set my goal for weight loss at one pound per week, since I have over 100 pounds to lose, Sparkpeople set my goal date more than two years away. I have a fairly generous calorie allowance going this slowly, so perhaps I will find it easier to stay in that allowance.

My goals for 2016 are:

1. To stay in my calorie range (right now that's 1500-2190 per day) each week. (I know there may be days when I go over, but I want my average each week to be in range. This means if I go 200 calories over one day, I can shave 50 calories off of four other days and still average within my goal.)

2. To record my weight each week on sparkpeople.

3. To record my bodyfat % and body measurements once a month on sparkpeople.

4. To let Sparkpeople reset my calorie goal once a month as I lose weight, I should note that I've been setting the low end of it myself at 1500, but I let Sparkpeople pick the maximum. If sparkpeople ever suggests a low end of less than 1500, then I'll go with that.

5. To reintroduce a regular exercise program, and slowly build it, until I am doing some form of exercise 1 hour a day, at least 5 days a week.

6. Not to obsess about the number on the scale, focus on the behaviors and let God take care of the numbers. I already seek God daily in prayer and Bible reading, but I need to work on just trusting Him in this area. I really want to be happy and secure with my body each step along the way, and not be focusing on the negative thoughts.

7. Continue seeking God in Bible reading and prayer each and every day.
