Great question!
I love running - I am a runner!!! But at the moment I am on recovery mode so not running much.
I absolutely love hiking - trails are not close by so we don't get to do it often enough.... Jeff (my hubby) and I go for walks - outside please!!! - all year round. In the neiborhood or at the lake.
I also track my distance while working out at the gym - cycle, elliptical, curve machine or track...
Welcome to the team Jane!

Love hiking. Flat is fine when there are things to look at but rock scrambles are the best.
I don't walk just to walk, but it's my preferred form of transportation. I do like talking walks as a way to talk with friends - somehow it's easier to have a deep conversation when you're not sitting still just staring at each other.
Can't say I like running, but it stresses my cardiovascular system more effectively than the walking does. Gotta do it outside though. Dreadmill = Death. Ugh!

How about for others?

Per this Spark Team Name: GO the DISTANCE

What do you doing in order to 'GO the DISTANCE' ?
e.g. Do you like to Hike (flat, go up mountains)?, Are you a Walker?
Where do you walk (inside virtually on a treadmill or outside in Nature?)

I do enjoy WALKING anywhere & I just can't imagine me having a sit down job (it just wouldn't fit), I like to take long walks without a specific destination (I call them going on an adventure). I used to RUN & actually was a distance runner for MANY years *I'm very out-of-shape and have I'm afraid limitations when it comes to my precious knees when it comes to running. My absolute all time favorite way to 'Go the Distance' is although Hiking. Sure hope I can get back in shape enough to get out there and REALLY do some distance this summer (as I said I'm pretty out-of-shape presently). In another life (about 25 years ago) I hiked for 7 months while following the G5 (the premier long distance hiking trail of Western Europe). I find that Walking is best right now for me just moving, breathing the seasons in as they pass. I love where I live as WALKING weather is here almost year around (& no treadmill needed).

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...
