Hello,

I am new to juicing and only recently learned about enemas. I bought an enema kit yesterday and tried to do a plain water enema, and I apologize if this is TMI, but I have no clue how to do an enema. I would have the enema tube in place, but the water didnt seem to be flowing "in" and anytime I would try to readjust the tubing, it would just feel the water trickling down my body and onto the floor. I tried placing the enema both lying on my back on the bathroom floor, and tried placing the enema while sitting on the toilet, but didn't have any luck. Is there something that I am doing wrong, or any tips you can offer so that I can be successful? Again I apologize if this is TMI....

Karen,

Actually, potatoes might be something to look into. I will avoid them for a while and see what happens, I didn't realize that potatoes and mushrooms were 'related'.

Thank you for your kind response. It is proving to be pretty challenging, I've been on this juicing thing for a while now, and still having problems with my intestines and bowels. :( Yuck.

Safiya,
To respond to your potato question, I have a friend who can't tolerate the nightshade family which includes potatoes and eggplants. They were only able to figure this out by working with a great allergist.

It sounds very challenging dealing with your GI issues.

Enemas, it depends on you. I do one every 3 days or so, depending on how I feel. When I'm detoxing, I start to feel yucky, I know it's time for a coffee enema (today would be one of those days, I feel HORRIBLE)...

Drinking lots of water is a good idea period. I find that my body tolerates lukewarm water better than cold. When I drink cold water, it nauseates me after a while, room temp water doesn't do that...

Good for you. Touch subject to some, but Dr. Gerson has it in his therapy for a reason..... it works to bring out toxins that otherwise might remain floating around inside you.

No kidding! I mentioned to my family that I was going to do a coffee enema and I thought they were going to choke. They think I'm nuts. But it DOES work, as strange as it sounds it does work. The detox stage was pretty bad, though. I knew I might feel bad, but I didn't realize that I would feel THAT bad. I'm glad I'm through the worst of it.

It's certainly motivation to be careful about what I eat in the future. :-)

Just joined the team and saw your thread.

I see you found the majic bullet to eliminate a lot of detox symptoms..... the enema.

While some seem to think this procedure is taboo..... it really does relieve detox symptoms.

I did coffee enemas my first juice fast and everytime it relieved my symptoms and made me feel so much better.

Glad you found it. Sometimes it's hard mentioning this to some people because they are 100% dead set against it. But you can't fight results right?

Anyone here?

I did finally make it through the detox stage, though it took a few coffee enemas, a few gallons of water and a lot of patience.

Please forgive me if this is long.. It didn't start out that way. Ok, so I'm on day 4 of my juice fast, and still in the detox phase. Headaches, achiness, nausea, I just feel awful. I know that my body is releasing toxins, and that this is a good thing. I know that this is temporary, and I know that when I get past this it will be worth all the trouble.

But I'm NOT past this yet. I'm still in it, and still struggling. I gave myself a coffee enema this afternoon, and it made a HUGE difference in how I feel. I DID feel a little better afterwards, but this afternoon I ate a little bit of a baked potato and feel crappy all over again.

Does this mean I'm sensitive to potatoes? Is it the heavy starch content, or should I stick with other fruits and veggies for any solid foods? I didn't eat much, only a little, but within the hour I was dizzy, and SUPER sleepy, I felt completely drained. Upon reflection, I realize that this happens often when I eat potatoes. What this means for my future eating choices I'm not sure yet, I'll have to do some research, test this theory again, and see if it is a sensitivity, an allergy, or just a bad choice of food while on a juice fast.

Truth is, while drinking this juice, I feel better when I DON'T eat solid foods. I ate what I thought was just Risotti last night, I ate a very small portion, and only because it was July 4th, but found out AFTER I started feeling bad that there was cheese in it. I can't have dairy, that is one of my food sensitivities (I already know that one for sure). So this morning I got up with my stomach cramping, the pains were horrible. After the coffee enema I felt tons better.

And now I'm sitting here, having eaten a small baked potato (plain) and feel awful all over again. Maybe I'm better off doing JUST juice? My situation is a bit different than most. For years I ate "normally" without thought to what I was eating. I was overweight, 225 pounds, a size 22, and the majority of it was in my stomach. I convinced myself that it was because I am an apple shape. But during a visit to the doctor, when I was complaining about fibromyalgia pain, the doctor took one look at my stomach and ordered an xray, which showed the problem. As my doctor put it, my "intestines were so full of waste that they were swollen and unable to contract" and most likely had BEEN that way for years. Now, because of that, they don't move food like normal folks do. (Yeah, I actually had a doctor tell me I'm full of it, lol)

This is one of the main reasons I started this juice fast, in the hopes that someday, after regular juice fasts every so often, my intestines will be 'normal'. Since cutting out dairy, gluten and meat, my stomach has gone down quite a bit. But could potatoes be a problem too, or is this just a part of the detoxing?

Any tips? Am I doing something wrong, or could I be doing this more efficiently (and without so much pain?) Anyone else have the same struggles? Again I'm sorry that this is so long, I didn't intend for it to be this way, but here you have it. (also sorry if this is TMI)...
