All very good ideas and helps I think every one is headed on the correct track.

I'm finding that eating on the high calorie side works for me.

And I think that if you want that piece of Pizza. I have been told that if your resisting some thing like that and you go for some thing else your more likely to eat way more then what you should of the other choice so go a head and have it.
It's like wanting a cookie go ahead and have one or two...just not the whole package.

WRITTINGMOMMA had some real good ideas the 6 meals a day is a good idea. She has also said lean protein and fiber make things work wonders...and she's right!
Also the plan out every day & what you'll have through out your day....that way you know EXACTLY what you'll be having...but also take time to find those things that you LOVE to eat that are good for you. One thing that I have found if you like to eat it, you'll also enjoy it and it also makes you want to eat health.
I've even asked one of the coaches here on Spark people how much protein to eat they said it depends on you & what your doing?
And the PMS thing is a BIG factor for us women. We can again 4 pounds just from TOM.
Main thing is to also listen to our bodies if your craving cheetoes you can bet that your body needs calcium so have some yogurt or slim milk, or low fat string cheese.
This is just my two cents worth.

These were all such good ideas. I, too, had a friend remind me that it's ok to let yourself feel hungry. Just not "shaky abt to throw up" hungry. Water, water, water!!

Such a GREAT question, and one that many of us have & do experience.
I agree with Rhales199, and Tanyamacdoogie, looking over your food tracking - if you can start off your day with some protein and/or a "stick-to-your-ribs" breakfast it really will benefit you throughout the day.
For example, I use Eggbeaters 2-3 times/week, throw in a few diced veggies, a little 2% shredded cheddar cheese, and eat with a slice of 45 cal. toast & fruit - it's filling with a reasonable calorie & fat count. Add a midmorning piece of fruit or a handful of nuts and Voila! I am not starving by lunchtime.
So, like the others have mentioned...try to plan out ahead of time what you'll be eating, and don't forget to include protein & fiber- it'll digest slower & help you to feel fuller longer. PLUS....drink H2O at least the recommended daily amount. I try to have drank 5 glasses of water by lunchtime(and yes, the bladder does adjust :-)
You are doing great - keep it up!!

I have a suggestion for your little problem:

plan your meals and snacks out in advance. This works for too little or too many calories. If you still have problems use the sparkpeople generated menus to give you an idea of what to eat and how much.

I don't know what to tell you other than I think this is a great forum to ask this. Maybe it is what you are eating. You can eat too healthy. Try more nuts and healthy fats maybe.

Maybe you need to allow yourself a couple of slices of pizza. Eat slow and drink water. Make sure to work in the veggies

I totally agree with all that has been said, especially the TOM thing. I am ALWAYS not only starving during that time but I totally crave chocolate (don't most women?! lol) but I find healthy chocolate (there are some low fat dark chocolate muffins on here that are excellent--include oatmeal and applesauce--so they hit my chocolate craving just right). Anyway, just make sure you are eating at least every 3-4 hours during the day. And it totally does not hurt to be on the high side of your calorie range, some people think they should always be on the low side, but if you are hungry, then stick to your high side for awhile. It could do your body some good. :-)

Drink water! Sometimes our bodies confuse needing water with hunger.

Another thing to consider is that as a woman you are going to get hungrier during pms and also during that time of the month. Funny how I didn't know this until I started eating healthy and found I could eat out a dairy queen by myself during these times. It is important to be aware and prepared so that you can counter with healthy sweets. Make the pizza but make it healthy. Try a smoothy instead of a milk shake. Things like that may help.

A while back I found this hunger scale that I printed out and I keep it on my refrigerator.

0- starving, famished, headachy

1- shaky all you can think about is how hungry you are

2- You feel like you need to eat something

3- You are starting to notice hunger pangs,

4- you are starting to think about food, but not really hungry

5- A comfortable lightness about you

6- Satisfied and Content

7- Somewhat full

8- Feeling of fullness

9- Need to loosen your clothing

10- So full you actually feel nauseated and vow to never eat this much again.

Ideally you want to initiate a meal when you are in a state of hunger, but not completely famished (a scale rating of about a three) You should finish your meal when you are in a state of fulness, but not completely stuffed (a scale rating of approximately a six)

Remember to eat slowly chewing each bite well and drinking water between mouthfuls. It takes your body at least 20 minutes to register you are full, so if you eat too fast you might feel over full by using this hunger scale.

I find that when I use this scale I am more aware of my body needs and I am neither starving nor am I uncomfortable from overeating.

Give it a try.

If you are hungry, eat! It is important not to starve yourself. If you are too hungry, you are more likely to go off the wagon and eat dumb stuff.

Go for a few extra calories today. 200 is a good number. Eat a protein, fat, and some fiber. It will help you feel better. You want to eat something that will hold you for a few hours.

I find that sometimes, I'm just hungrier. If I listen to my body and eat one meal/snack that is about 200 calories that I'm not hungry any more and can go back to what I was doing.

Look at your tracker and see what you can do to add protein and fat to your diet at times. 24 almonds are an ounce. I measure them out and put them in bags in the freezer. I eat them for a snack when I'm at work. It works well for me.

I am very rarely starving any more.

Here is what I do;
1- I plan some protein in every meal

Protein and fiber in every meal make losing weight no big deal

I eat every two hours, and those snacks also have protein in them

Eating six meals a day keeps those hunger pangs away!

Here is a typical days menu for me
Breakfast
either oatmeal and fruit (for the day I take my fosomax)
All other days I eat
egg sometimes with left over vegetables from last nights meal or onion and peppers scrambled into the egg.
fruit or fruit juice
and
tomato or tomato juice
and milk
That right there is quite a meal for around 300 calories and it sets the tone for the rest of the day. If I end up being where I can't get to my morning snack I am still not ravishing hungry at noon.

around 10 a.m. a snack of either yogurt or cottage cheese and fruit. I measure the serving sizes.

Lunch is one of three meals
either soup and milk
A sandwich with meat and vegetables and milk
or a salad with a boiled egg and beans added for protein and a glass of milk

Afternoon snack is an apple with peanut butter I have found they taste really good together and it is one of my favorite snacks.

Dinner is on a 9 inch plate
1/4 of the plate is protein
1/4 of the plate is a carb
1/2 of the plate is vegetables preferrably two vegetables with different colors.

If needed for an evening snack I have one of the following
sugar free pudding,
sugar and fat free ice cream in 1/2 cup serving sizes, You can purchase it in serving sizes so you are not tempted to eat more
Diet pop with diet ice cream float
or
hot air popped popcorn,

Try that for a day or two. I have found if I am overly hungry that usually my calories are a little low.

The other evening I was in that situation and I ended up making me an apple crisp and it hit the spot without breaking my calories range.
I apple slice and sprinkled with Splenda and cinnamon
1/4 cup of oatmeal dabbed with Smart Balance Spread, 1 Tbsp of brown Sugar and Sprinkled with Cinnamon
Put in the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes and put a dab of whipped cream on top. One 150 calories and it tastes like you are splurging!

I just looked over your food tracker really quick, and one thing that sticks out to me is that you often don't have very much, if any protien at breakfast.
The yogurt is a great source of protien, so those days look good.
You could probably add one more TBSP of peanut butter. and more almonds.... enough to equal a serving (but I can't remember how many almonds are in one serving).
Eggs, if you eat them, are also a great source of protein, I eat an egg almost every day at breakfast.
So is something like turkey sausage. or low fat cheese.

Hope that helps a little :)
