Dennis and I went to visit our friend who is moving this afternoon. I played with Huck, and Dee gave me a couple of her plants. Before she moves we are taking her washing machine and dryer. A king size bed with a cute frame. A couch (set)...I wish we would give me Huck hehe.

Thanks Debbie, hugs back. Cherokee is her old self again. Wanting to do to much. We're getting ready to go grocery shopping, so she will have a nice nap in her crate. Keeps her still for a while lol. Hope your day is going well.

She mostly slept. Got up once with Dennis. I think she need to go potty, but wouldn't eat.
She's perkier today, but still whining. Probably doesn't like the way she feels. Thanks for asking. I hope Janet's day goes ok.

Happy Birthday to your Brother Janet. emoticon

The Vet office should call soon and give us a update on Cherokee. I'm sure she did fine. I hope Dennis reminds to ask if we have had a sedative (small dose) for a few days. Or, we will have to keep her in her crate most of the time. Once Cherokee feels better she will want to run and jump. She is so lively lol. Oh, the Vet office just called. Cherokee is fine, and we can pick her up at 4:30. They said the meds she will have to take should help keep her calm, if not, we can call them back, and they will give us something else. I dread the cone.

That's a shame the big stores have closed in your area Janet. Times have been hard for sure.
What was Petco's response when you complained? Sometimes businesses will listen, sometimes they don't. If it isn't too much of a bother you can order online. How long will Molly be on Prednisone? I feel like you do, but it should help. I was on it for years, and did ok, but a Dog is different. That's a good idea to wait until Thurs. That will be a long day for you. You will be in my thoughts and prayers for sure. emoticon

Oh Lordy, Tony!! A Cat is a Cat lol. Better they catch the critters though, before they get inside your house. We have a alley way behind us. It's dirt. We keep our area tidy, but further up people have thrown over their fence pieces of wood and limbs from trees. Not good because rodents like to nest in stuff like that. Last week Cherokee brought in a dead rat. We think Cali killed it, and left it for us to admire. At least Cherokee will "drop it" on command. I about passed out lol. At times I feel bad Cali is outdoors. She won't come inside, but at times like that, I am glad she if free to roam.

How did your walk go with Molly? Debbie, you need a dog. Join the walking clan lol.
Hugs for you both!

Good Morning Jeanne and Debbie!!

Good luck to Cherokee today. I am so sorry she has to wear that dreaded cone but it's for her own good. Hope her ears look great today. Sounds like you will have to keep a close eye on them in the future.

Happy Birthday to your brother, Debbie!!

I live in a town of 15,000 but over the years, we have slowly but surely lost most of our big stores. The farm store in town offers Science diet but only a very few flavors and none are fish which Tony prefers. I complained the choices yesterday at Petco about that too. They seem to carry more for kittens and cats over age 7 than for cats in their prime.

The vet's office called yesterday and wants Molly to be on prednisone. I never like that but the vet knows best. At least I will be around the house more to help with the letting her out to potty constantly. I may wait another day to start her on it since I will be gone all day tomorrow for the tests at the Clinic. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers please. I'm so afraid to hear more bad news.

Naughty Tony was outside the other day (on his tether) and managed to catch a mouse. He ate it too. That's really the naughty part. Now, he can't be out enough.

Molly and I need to get out for our walk. We had a great walk yesterday so I expect the same today. She probably will appreciate the cool and cloudy day. I'm sure it's tough to walk around with a black fur coat when the summer sun is out.

Janet

Glad to hear Molly's nose bleed stopped. How did your Hubby's Doctor Appt go? You must live in a small town Janet. I like small towns, but sometimes makes shopping harder. Tony will be a happy camper!

We take Cherokee in at 8:15...Little does she know, she will have to wear that nasty cone. A few days ago her ears looked red again. We cleaned them real good, and point ointment in. Today they looked much better. We will clean them again tonight, and give her a dry bath. I was hoping Dennis could give her a bath outside, but the weather turned on us. Too cool and windy.

Janet has was your day? Hugs to both of you!

Hi to you both,
I just did the food shopping.
I'll go walk later today. We are only going up to 86.
Yesterday we went and saw the movie "Avengers". I covered my eyes more than I watched it. I had a little boy next to me. He was happy with the movie.

Hope Molly has a good day Janet. Hope you have a good day. Is your weather good?

Hugs for Cherokee tomorrow Jeanne. Hope your having a nice morning.

Molly's nosebleed stopped about 7 last night. She's still sneezy and her nose is running a bit but she seems like herself again. We'll try a walk in a little while.

We have a sunny day here but cool. We have to travel about an hour away so my husband can see his endocrinologist this afternoon. I think we'll stop at Petco before leaving that town to pick up some cat food. DH wants to feed our cat Science diet for the canned food he gets every day but it is nearly impossible to find in our town.

I'll be thinking of Cherokee tomorrow.

Debbie, what's up for you today?

I don't think I've ever had eggs benedict either. Your breakfast sounded so good Debbie. I love going out for breakfast. It's harder now that my DH doesn't want to go much because getting a gluten free breakfast is so hard.

I'm sure Cherokee will do fine on Tuesday but I understand your anxiety.

Molly has a nose bleed today. I gave her one of the Chinese herb about three hours ago and she is still dripping a bit. That's unusual. The effect usually takes place within the first hour. Molly also refused a walk. We managed to cross the road and walk to the third house. She did her dramatic rolling just about the whole way and then just turned to go home. I'll let her sleep awhile and then see what's what.

My Dad loved most foods, but especially different types of Cheeses. I love Cheese too, but not all of the varieties he had in the house.

Fish sandwich sounds good. I'm glad you were able to go out to lunch, and get your Dad's meds. Molly is a good girl. That's funny that Charlie was the instigator of the two. Cherokee is the opposite of our 3 dogs. They were so mellow. Some of it is her age, just 6 months, but I think she is going to require extra attention. I call her Tigger. Always bouncing lol. At least she is a happy dog. She gets spayed Tues. I'm a bit nervous, but sure all will be fine.

Breakfast does sound good Debbie. I don't recall ever having eggs benedict. Does sound yummy. Fruit does as well. Yesterday we went to Aldi's, and I picked out two types of summer squash. Dennis also picked up Zucchini at Lowe's. Two years ago we had a wonderful crop, last summer not so. I think due to the Gopher, but we think it is gone.

I'm glad your dad was ok. Does he love fish? My dad did. All kinds.
It's good to read that your sister will be there on Wednesday.
Do you have more appts next week?

Molly sounds happy just being there with you watching.

My breakfast out was really great. I had eggs benedict. It's was with spinach and tomato on the English muffin. I had slices of avacodo and banana/strawberries. It surprised me on how good everything tasted together. It came with bacon on it too but I took it off.

Yesterday was hard because I told Dad my diagnosis but he seemed to accept it. The drive was exhausting so we didn't do a lot. I took him to Culver's for a fish sandwich and then we stopped to pick up one of his medications. I filled his pill boxes for the week and made a new list so my sister can easily do that job for the next two weeks. She arrives on Wednesday.

Molly and I sat outside together for awhile when I got home. We both enjoy watching the walkers. When Charlie was alive, I had more trouble keeping the dogs off the road greeting people. Obviously that was Charlie instigated because Molly just watches. She is such a good girl.

Cherokee did pretty good with the clicker training today. She softly growled. I told her no, and she backed off from her bowl, then sat down. I told her to wait, praised her, then let her go back to her bowl. I gave her a quick pet. She looked up at me like she wasn't sure. I told her she was a good girl, then she wagged her tail. I backed off at that point. I do want her to enjoy her food.
I discovered one of my plants in the front yard is half dead. You can see it big time from the street, so I think I will replace it.

They did get you in fast, and got things done. I thought things went quickly for me, but you were speedy. It is good though. The great part is, the lump is small. I have a spark friend who found a good sized lump in her breast about 7 yrs. ago. She too got in right away, had surgery, and chemo. She has stayed cancer free all this time. She sure has helped me through my ordeal. Her name is Cookie. Do you know her? She had a little dog named Punky. She doesn't use Spark People anymore, but we stay in touch. We call each other once a month, and she faithfully sends me cards for special occasions. I am here for you as well. It sure helps having someone who has already been through cancer treatment etc. emoticon

The radiologist is a breast cancer expert and she is basing her assessment on what the tumor and lymph node look like on ultrasound. She said there was a small chance that she was wrong but that didn't happen much. The next step is to talk to a surgeon once the biopsy results are in which should be Tuesday at the earliest.

I think I was lucky yesterday that they were able to conduct all these tests. It certainly made things move along. Thanks for your prayers.

Oh no. At least they are dealing with you quickly. My tumor was small as well, and they got all of it. So you should be ok there. My lymph nodes were ok. I pray yours will be as well. How do they know the lymph node is borderline if the results are not back yet. I'm kind of confused about that. Is the area a bit swollen? And how do they know for sure it is breast cancer without the results of a biopsy? I hope it is just a lump. I didn't see a surgeon until my biopsy results were in.
Kind of odd to me. I will be praying for you! emoticon

Well, it is not a lipoma. I went for the mammogram today. The technician could not get a view of it which explains why it was never picked up on any of my mammograms. She asked if I could stay for an ultrasound and I said okay. They also checked some lymph nodes and then the doctor came in. Definite concern. They asked if I could stay for a biopsy if they could arrange coverage in the mammogram area. I said okay . The doctor says it is breast cancer. It is a small lump. One lymph node is borderline. She said if it wasn't for the lump, she would not have any concern about the lymph node. I have to wait till Tuesday for the biopsy results to talk treatment but you can see things can move fast.

I know you just went through treatment which is why I'm sharing with you. I'm sort of in shock right now.

I bet you were real worried. If it is a lipoma do you have to get it taken out anyway? At least they are usually harmless. Yes, please let me know, and try and relax.

I have been watching a female house sparrow feed her babies this week. I feel bad for her. The male sparrow hasn't been seen for a few days now. They show up every year and use the bird house Dennis made. We can see it from our back window. The mama bird must be so tired by the end of the day. emoticon

I hope Cherokee's limp is just a side effect of growing. I've never had a dog go into heat so I have no idea what that's like. The humane society spays before sending dogs to their forever homes. I think we did spay a dog or two ourselves but it must have been a lot of years ago and the memory has faded.

I found a lump on Tuesday. It's a small, hard one along my bra line under one of my breasts. The doctor I saw yesterday thinks it may be a lipoma and today I am having a mammogram. She debated between that and an xray but said if it was a lipoma, it would not show up well so they'd have to do a mammo anyway. I have been diligent about having mammograms done every year for about 25 years now and they have always been good. The imaging today is at 3:00 so I doubt I will hear the results till next week.

Sure hope the Doctor has good news for Molly. Let me know. I understand how the both of have felt. Cherokee has been limping off and on for a few days. Most of me thinks it due to her growing, but the first thing that came to mind is bone cancer. She will be 6 months May 2nd. That seems young to have cancer. I talked to the Vet Tech, and she said to keep my eye on it. It might be due to her growing since she is a large breed dog. Henley didn't have those issues, but he wasn't as high energy either. I called today to get her spayed, and they can't get her in until the 22nd. Sure hope she doesn't go into heat by then. I dread that.

Molly seems to have made a full recovery from whatever ailed her. I am so relieved. I think having Charlie's death fresh in our minds makes us pessimistic.

I bought some seeds this week. For carrots, spinach and lettuce. I would still like some kale. We have lots of snow on the ground yet but we've had a few days in a row of sunshine and 40 degree weather (inching up to 50) that I am feeling I just may be able to plant. I'm not sure whether my body will cooperate but I think I can at least plant a few things. I'll have to mulch like crazy to help prevent weeds.

Her puppy class is tomorrow, so we shall see. I know what you mean about wanting to buy and can't. Normally we wait until the end of April to plant, because we can can frost until May. However, this year they say the extremely cold weather is over. They better be right lol. Sounds like you and your Dad had a good visit.

When Charlie was with us, he always would bark at people who knocked on our door. Molly just sits by the door and wags her tail. Is Cherokee getting more comfortable in class? This is just a puppy class, right?

Today Dad and I stopped in at a hardware store and they had several bedding plants -- vegetables and herbs. I was looking longingly at them when Dad said something about not being the right time to buy. I thought, yeah -- duh. I can't even see my garden for all the snow. But they were so healthy looking. But, I didn't buy. emoticon

Funny how each dog is different. Henley bayed in each class. He was so loud people from the other side of the park came over to see "the dog" lol. Cherokee has yet to bay. Last night for the first time she did howl a bit. Nothing like a nice quiet dog though lol. Munchie is total opposite. He has a bark for every occasion. I need to go plant shopping. I want to buy a couple of Canna's for the backyard. Not sure what else, but something colorful.

Cherokee was better with the other pups at class yesterday. Still a bit timid, but better. She did all the commands, but every time the guy talked, using his microphone, she started jumping all over the place. I don't think she was scared. Maybe just the sound. I noticed a couple of other dogs barking. I was drained when I got home. She just kept tugging on the leash. She isn't that hyper at home. emoticon

That is a pretty bush and I hope it revives once the weather is consistently warmer. One good thing about our weather is that the maple trees have had sap flowing for a long time. It will be a good year for syrup.

Molly is indicating a big desire to walk so I better get moving. I had hoped the sun would be out by now but at least it isn't raining.

Our bulbs bloomed early this year because we were having warm weather. Then it cooled down again, and we had rains. So up and down. I am afraid my Lantana bush died, due to 22 degree weather. We were around 79 degrees, and it started to bud leaves, then bam. We were cold again. Bummer. It was so nice and big. We're not digging it up yet in hopes it will bounce back once we stay warm. It's a unusual color too. I so seldom see this color sold here.

Pretty flower!! I have been going to a few gardening related events lately and am ready to start doing something. But...I can't see my garden because of the snow. We are expecting rain tonight so that should help open things up.

Maybe I spoke too soon about Molly. She does seem to be a bit depressed still. I think we will just keep trying to make her life as normal as possible. I think it will help when we can spend more time outside but it is just a little too cold and there's just too much snow out there yet.

We are expecting a storm from CA in the next couple of days to come our way. Fortunately for us, the precipitation will go south. Meanwhile, we get these fabulous sunny days but the temps are still in the 30s and 40s and we have a north wind. Can't put that winter jacket away yet though I did put a lot of my winter gear away already.

Sounds like you have it down pat. I have never experienced that, hope I never do. Time will tell.
Each dog is different when it comes to the heart. We probably will never be able to explain why. We mostly got Cherokee for Munchie, but it ends up, she prefers Dennis. Munchie claimed me years ago. They do play together in the backyard though, so it has all worked out. Plus Munchie is 12 now, so when it is his time for him to leave this Earth, at least we will have another dog. I might adopt another one. We shall see. Part of me would love to get another Germ Shep mix, but not sure at the same time. There will never be another Sarge. I love Labs. We have never had a Golden Retriever. I think about that. After Sarge passed I told him, when I am ready bring the dog to me.

I sent you some sunshine? It shows. We had rain a couple of days ago, and we are getting ready for another storm. Cool and breezy right now. I can see the clouds moving in.
Hope you have a good Sat.

Getting a urine sample is a bit tricky but much easier with a female dog than a male. I leash the dog to go out (we don't usually have to do that) and I have a little tray to put under the butt when the dog starts to go . I used to use something like a margarine container until a vet gave me this tray and it works much better. Then I transfer the urine to an old pill container.

I once had a collie mix that had frequent UTIs so I became a bit of an expert at gathering a sample. I wasn't sure if I could do so well with Molly but she seemed more upset that I leashed her and didn't walk her than she was about having the sample taken.

I am not sure my husband would want another Weimaraner and I know he's not ready to get another dog. I'm not either. It's funny that I wanted another lab immediately after we put our Maggie down. I thought the best way to honor her memory was to adopt another lab so we got Molly. I just don't have that feeling with Charlie. I didn't with the collie mix either.

You are sending us some fabulous weather lately. The temperature is a bit on the chilly side but Molly and I enjoy walking in the sunshine.

Glad Molly is done with her meds. How do you get a urine sample at home? i guess you have to be quick. I have never done that before. I think Alice did have a UTI infection once, but they got the sample they needed at the Vet office. I'm sure she was appalled.

I think our pets do better then us humans with the grieving process. It takes time, sometimes I think forever. I want another Germ Shep mix someday, but I can't now. Dennis knew he couldn't have another dog like Alice. Henley was mostly my dog, but a good dog for both of us personality wise. I guess that is why Dennis wanted another Bloodhound. And I knew I couldn't have a pup that looks like Henley. Cherokee was perfect.

Charlie will always be in your hearts. I do hope you rescue, or get another dog again when you are ready. They help heal our hearts. And Charlie would like that. Charlie was a doll!

Hi. Our life here is slowly returning to our new normal. Molly finished her last set of meds (for the UTI) yesterday morning so I will take a urine sample in on Monday before going to Dad's. She seems to be good. She has returned to sleeping in her usual spot. Before that she was always very near one of us. She has also returned to chewing on her toys. I think she spent some time grieving for Charlie but she seems to have moved on now.

Even Tony seems to have changed. It took until yesterday but he is back to sleeping in a spot he and Charlie used to fight over. I think that is so interesting.

John and I are still grieving. Charlie seems to have loomed large in everything we did. I often getting up missing his sweet self coming in the bedroom. That in itself was a change for him. He originally slept in the room with me and I would spend a few minutes every morning on the floor next to him. But, life goes on.

I saw your blog about Cherokee. What a sweet face she has. I look at that face and wonder if I could say "no" to it. Not sure I could.

It does make a difference between a pup and a older dog. Both Sarge and Munchie were at least 6 months when we adopted them. Alice was a pup when we brought her home, but she was super mellow. And fast to catch on to anything. Henley wasn't as hyper as Cherokee, but close lol.

I hate the coughing stage, but at least one is getting rid of the yuck. My cough lasted 3 weeks. Seemed soooo long. Glad you are getting sunshine. I think I passed it on to you hehe.

I haven't had a puppy in decades but I do remember it took that dog awhile to get the idea of going outside. I don't think all of the dogs we've adopted started as inside dogs but they did all seem to catch on quick to going outside. It helps that they had more bladder control I think.

I've started the coughing phase of this illness. I coughed a lot in the overnight hours so my sleep wasn't very good. I plan to use lots of meds for this as well as steam so I am hoping it will pass quickly.

We are expecting lots of sun and increasing temps in the next week. They are predicting 50 toward the end of their 7 day forecast. I am looking forward to that.

Cherokee weighs 35 pds. now. She isn't housebroken completely. It sure seems slow. Every time we think she is going outside all of time, she comes in and pees. Gerrr. Not sure why she hasn't gotten it completely yet,. but I hear it takes 4 to 6 months. She just turned 4 months.

Dogs, always sticking their nose where it doesn't belong lol.. I'm with you. I wouldn't worry about Molly unless she has a problem again. I'm glad she is drinking water again. It's funny, when we had the 4 dogs we could tell who was drinking water by the sound they would make. Cherokee is pretty noisy for her age, and the ends of her ears get wet lol.

You slept a long time. You must have needed it. That's good you are feeling better. My cold didn't last a long time thank goodness, but I didn't have a fever either. Sounds like you had the works.

Molly is missing Charlie, I'm sure. Munchie wasn't that close to Henley, but he looked depressed after Henley passed. Sometimes I think they go through more then what we do.

LOL I bet it does seem like Cherokee Rose grows in her sleep. She is such a beauty. What is her favorite toy? Is she reliably housebroken?

We probably will not have Molly's nose checked further. At least as long as there isn't another nose bleed. So far, so good. I have heard three snorts from her this week but all three times she had just stuck her nose into the snow.

I see her water drinking is back to normal too. In fact, I wouldn't mind if she drank a bit more. Help keep a UTI away.

I'm beginning to feel better. Yesterday I went to bed at 5 in the evening and slept till 5 this morning. Walked Molly a little extra today too.

Molly got up on the couch between DH and I today and looked back over at the love seat. That was Charlie's spot. I felt like she was looking for him. Missing him a lot tonight.

So glad you are feeling better, and the fever broke. Hope the headache part goes away soon.
When I had my cold in Dec., that's what I nursed on. Chicken Noodle Soup, and Strawberry Chamomile Tea. Adagio's Teas sells it. They have a lot of good Teas, but that one is my favorite herbal Tea.

Are you going to get Molly's nose checked out again? I think I mentioned once that Henley had that happen twice. If nose bleeds started up again, then we were going to take him to a specialist, but thank goodness he didn't get a nose bleed again.

Cherokee grows in her sleep. We swear she does lol. She is growing so fast, and a appetite to go with it lol.

Good advice!! My fever broke last night so now I'm just left with a headache and sinus pain. It isn't too bad and I think it will pass with rest and time.

Cherokee Rose changes so much every time you post a picture of her. She is such a pretty girl!! How is training going?

The vet's office called again about Molly's nosebleed. That's been about a month ago but suggests the vet was as concerned as I was about that. Molly hasn't had trouble since that day but I did hear a snort last night. Molly was outside in the snow and had just screwed her head into the snow and then faced into the 25 mph winds. I'd have snorted too.

I think our storm is the one you had. Looks like we will be getting 3-5 inches of snow. We'll see though. It is always hard to predict these Spring storms.

I am coming down with a cold. Seems like this one is concentrated in my chest. Sure makes it hard to get up and get going but I do want to walk Molly. The snow is now set to come this evening so I have time.

I wonder if you are getting the storm we just had. The Mountains are pretty with snow. Our house was more on the edge of the storm, so not a lot of rain, but it was still nice. Stay warm. Hope the Robins do ok!

Cherokee isn't much better. We are hoping she will get used to it. Henley was a champ. Of course, he loved the attention. She is getting better though, but like you said, not willingly.

Glad to hear those ears are getting better. Does Cherokee accept ear treatment? Charlie did so reluctantly. If he could, he'd run away from me.

My last message is missing a word. Last night Molly did NOT have to go out at all. That's why I think she's healing. She is on meds for two weeks and then I am to get a urine sample three to five days after she finishes and bring it in for analysis. She does seem to be doing well now.

Sarge was the only one I got a paw print but then we had to put him down with a different Vet, and I think they went through a different company. How long will it take for the meds to completely heal Molly. Did they say? My guess is 2 weeks. Give her a hug for me.

Katie has the paw print because she didn't really play either. When we put her down, the vet tech made an impression of her paw. That is the only time that happened.

Charlie's ashes are home. Molly has begun to resume some of her habits. She was sleeping in the family room with my husband more recently. Perhaps that was because she was having to go outside more, first because of the steroid and then because of the UTI. Now she sleeps back by me and John said she wanted to go out all night long. That hopefully means she is healing.

That is always so sweet when the Vet and staff remember you. Our Vet cried when we put Henley down. She loved him. So I surprised her with Cherokee. She is in love again lol.
I have name tags of our dogs too. Even our older dogs Heidi and Snoopy. I can't find Alice's tags. I know they are here somewhere. She has a squeaky dog. Only dog she didn't tear up when she was a pup. Sarge has a stuffed Horse that neighs. He loved that. Henley wasn't into playing really. I should put a tiny fake rose bush by his box. Since he was always sticking his head inside our rose bushes. What we do for our pets. emoticon

I put a picture on the box the ashes come in. I also save their tags and put them on the box. Then I add a remembrance. BJ's remembrance is a tennis ball because she lived for playing ball. Katie's remembrance is her paw print. Maggie's remembrance is a squirrel toy because she loved chasing squirrels. Even in her old age. Once, she jumped out a partially rolled up window because she saw a couple of squirrels. Charlie's is a toy hamburger because he lived to eat. Molly's will be a toy mouse because she is a good mouser. Our cat will be a toy bird.

Got a couple of sympathy cards in the mail yesterday. The vet's office sent one with comments by the vet and several techs. That one really made me cry. It does now just thinking about it.

You're braver then I am. It took me forever to throw out Sarge's meds. We still have Henley's pills. They did take back the Hills Science Diet food though, and we got refunded for that. The ear cleaner and ointment I had to keep, but glad I did since Cherokee has a ear infection all ready. I agree, I would do it all over again as well. Hope you are hanging in there. emoticon

Molly loves the yogurt. Actually she seems to be trying to eat for herself and Charlie too.

Yesterday I threw out all of Charlie's opened bottles for treatment. He had eye ointment, eye drops, ear drops, ear cleaner, special lotion, and special shampoo. I saved some ear cleaner for Molly as well as the paw cleaner. Just a couple of days before putting Charlie down, I called in for a refill on the Apoquel saying he was doing so well that I'd take 2 months worth. Guess not. The vet office volunteered to buy it back from us and also refunded an unopened eye ointment. I gave back some unopened syringes we had from when we were doing allergy shots. I gave my friend a bottle of glucosamine for her dog. We had just opened that bottle. It amazed me to see all the things we were using to make Charlie's life more comfortable. We'd do it all again if we could. emoticon

We used to give all of our dogs Yogurt. As soon as Cherokee is old enough I will buy it for her and Munchie. I know how you feel. Henley was at peace at the Vets office because he loved going there. It was harder for me though. We just lost him too close to Alice. Our Vet adored Henley. She loves Bloodhounds, so Cherokee is already getting the special treatment lol.

This vet office changed their policy about home euthanasia after I asked about it. I don't suppose I alone changed their mind but I am so thankful they did. It made for a calm passing for Charlie and I really wanted that for both him and for us.

It has been suggested to me that Molly may have gotten this UTI because of the meds she has been on and I should add some yogurt into her diet. It would help encourage good gut bacteria. I'm going to the grocery store today (it's senior day) so I think I will pick some up for her. I'm fairly sure she'll accept it.

I did get that urine sample and it went easier than I expected. I have some experience since we had a collie mix who had continual urinary tract issues. Mid morning I got a call from the vet's office to tell me Molly has a UTI and I could come in and pick up some antibiotics. So she'll do that for two weeks and then a few days later I'll take in another urine sample.

I sent a basket of flowers to the vet office in thanks for the kindness they showed Charlie and also to the rest of us. I am so appreciative of all they did to make Charlie more comfortable in the office and, then at the end, in our home. I'm glad that was an option for us as my memory of the end is one of calm. Still sad but not anxious in the least.

Still missing our Charlie. Lots and lots. New crisis today is that Molly appears to have blood in her urine. This started yesterday afternoon with her going out and assuming the stance over and over. I went out and checked the snow and saw very little yellow, sometimes none, where she'd been. Eventually I started to see blood. DH says, overnight, Molly asked to go out repeatedly early on and then was quiet the rest of the night. Now, I've been up an hour and a half and she hasn't indicated any need to go out. I want to try to get a urine sample. Should be interesting.

We put Charlie down this afternoon. He simply could not stand. He had spine surgery four or five years ago and I am sure his spine deteriorated as he aged. We would talk about things Charlie gave up doing -- getting on the bed, long walks, going way out in the yard to potty, walk on bare floors, he even gave up going to the other end of the house. It is not surprising but it still hurts. He had such a big personality and leaves a big, big hole.

I think they take the dogs in the back because sometimes having the dog parents in the room is distracting. Cherokee kept trying to hide behind me. She isn't as brave as Henley so far. Henley loved the Vet.

Poor charlie. Have you had his spine checked? Sarge was like that for a short time 2 or 3 years before we had to let him go. We thought he had arthritis in the hips, but it ended up his spine was deteriorating. However, when they put him on pain meds that made a big difference for him. Glad Molly is better. That's too bad you never found out what was bothering her. My guess is though some type of allergy or irritant. She could have sniffed something. Wish our pets could talk!

I don't like when the vet takes the animals in the back. I never quite understand why they can't do things right in front of me. I've never asked though.

Charlie is flopping all over the place today. He can't seem to walk more than two or three steps without losing his back end. I gave him a Deramaxx, half of one really, in the hopes that he'll settle for awhile and let things heal. It's icy outside today again so I don't know if that's what started it or if this is just how it is now.

Molly has healed well. She is back to her old self. While I'd love to know what happened, I am just going to be happy it has cleared.

They took her in the back, so couldn't see. We didn't hear her yelp though. She is horrible for us right now. We start getting out everything we need to clean her ears, and she is out the doggy door. She is too smart lol. Henley was a real trouper, so I hope as Cherokee gets older she will cooperate. How are your babies doing?

May I always be the kind of person that my dog thinks I am.

Charlie and I will be paying a visit to the vet this morning. I've lost the battle with the feet.

How is Cherokee doing?

I'm feeling better. Still have a cough. It will be nice when that is gone.
Sylvie is doing much better. She is in the house now. She hasn't played with Cherokee yet, but watches the pup. So the day is coming. Probably once Cherokee calms down somewhat.
Cruzer is pretty patient. Since Cruzer is so big (20 pds), Cherokee thinks she can jump on the poor cat. He growls when she gets too frisky, otherwise, he puts up with it. He will lay by Cherokee on the couch at night.

Poor Charlie. His allergies gives him a fit. Hope his feet clear up. I know how you feel. It's hard.
