Check Your Genes ‘Know Your DNA’ 5K Run/Walk

DESCRIPTION: Join Check Your Genes for the Second Annual 5K Walk/Run!
Check Your Genes founder, Nancy West Romer, was an avid runner so having a 5k is perfect way to continue her legacy and use her passion as a way to raise awareness of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.
Kathrine Nero from WCPO-TV will emcee the event and start the race. Various organizations will have booths at the event, where racers and their families can learn more about programs and services related to breast and ovarian cancer and more. Music will be provided by DJ.

RCGC Family Walk / Hike

DESCRIPTION: The next RCGC Family Walk/Hike will be Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Idlewild Park in Burlington KY from 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM. Meet at the Trail Head parking lot between baseball fields #6 and #7. The club will be hiking the “Technical” and “Runaround” wooded trails – total of 3.0 miles(View trail map). All families, adults and children of all ages are welcome to come. You do not need to be a Club member to join us – bring along some friends! 8th Annual Friendship City 5K Run/Walk

DATE: Sunday August 26, 2012
TIME: 8:00 AM.
PLACE: Kenton County Library, Erlanger KY
DESCRIPTION: 5K Run/Walk that starts and ends at the Erlanger Branch of the Kenton County Library and winds through streets of historic residential homes and the Erlanger Historical Railroad Depot. Route is mostly flat. Get together with families and friends and get started on a new program for physical fitness. Proceeds for the race benefit Step Forward, Erlanger program to make the City a more walkable community and connecting people through physical activity.

Brian Rohne Memorial 5k

DATE: Saturday August 11, 2012
TIME: 7:00 PM.
PLACE: Albright Health Center, Northern Kentucky University, Highland Heights KY
DESCRIPTION: Brian Rohne was the most valuable athlete for the Men’s Cross Country team at Northern Kentucky University in 1992. The Milford High School graduate was a leader in every sense of the word. He was a truly talented runner and a tenacious competitor. Brian also excelled in the classroom and was always quick to help those not as fortunate. Brian, like many other young athletes, had great plans for his athletic career. While on a training run in January of 1993, pursuing the dream to be an NCAA champion, Brian was fatally injured. He was 20 years old. All proceeds raised from this event will go to the Brian Rohne Memorial Fund, which will be used to assist future runners to pursue that dream of greatness at NKU.

Fleeing Felon Run

DATE: Saturday August 4, 2012
TIME: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM.
PLACE: Lincoln Ridge Park, Independence KY
DESCRIPTION: This is an obstacle course run with approximately 12 obstacles over a 3 mile course. The course will run you across trails, grass and pavement.
Runners will have to register in time slots. Time slots will start every 30 minutes and will have 15 runners in each slot.
No race day registration. Online registration only.

Better Bodies and Silverlake Fitness Centers are holding a 5K Run/Walk/Stroll on Saturday, June 9 to raise money for I Have Wings, a local breast cancer support foundation.
The 5K starts at Drawbridge Inn and ends at Better Bodies Fitness Center in Fort Mitchell, KY.
The entrance fee is $30 Check-in begins at 6:30 a.m. the morning of the race, and the race will begin at 7:30 am. Parking is available at the Drawbridge Inn. For more information, or to register, visit www.ihavewings.org.

on Wednesday June 6 at 6:15 PM at Tower Park in Ft. Thomas KY. All are invited. All paces welcome. There will be a route for you whether you like trails or prefer the open road, whether you want to go 1 mile, 3 miles or more. Free of charge.
