Not sure gaining all the weight back losing it again gaining it back. I’ve had many successes then sabotage myself.
Right now just trying to stay away from sweets. I don’t have money to really buy many extras. That might help. Lol

STAY POSITIVE AND SMILE. DON'T BE DISCOURAGED WHEN YOU HAVE A BAD DAY. THEY CAN ONLY GET BETTER.

Something, I am trying now is that every time I want to eat something, I get a cup of tea to drink first. I am more hydrated. Not sure it has slowed down my eating. I only drink herbal teas after noon.

I haven't tracked my food for several days either. I prefer paper and writing food, time and mood over calories. So, I just keep to the paper trackers.

My secret for offsetting binge calories is to juice a couple meals a day for a couple days. I usually feel better and the cravings reduce again.

This is my generator. Worth every penny. www.amazon.com/100-Watt-Porta

It is quiet and light weight. It has held it's charge for over a year without needing a recharge.. I check it periodically to make sure. Even after a one hour nap, it is still fully charged. I think I got two full nights of cpap use with it back when I first got it for the road trip. Charging and switching from AC to DC required me to use the manual, but as far as the cpap or phone charger goes, you just plug it in. It has a regular 110 socket. Oh, and it has a built in light too.

The website LOSEIT could be a secret of sucess---if I'd only use it consistently! chris

I have to be diligent about caring for myself. 100 DAYS OF WEIGHT LOSS is a great way for me to keep focused. Day 1 is July 1, 2017. Build habits to produce success. Most of these habits I have at least tried before but did not sustain. First habit: delay eating by using a timer.

I keep saying I want a power generator. Was it hard to get hooked up?

Tuesday morning hubby has a very early morning hospital test. He does not have to stay there, just do the test for his throat. I don't know what good it does testing. He won't do the therapy exercises anyway. I do think by me visiting and chatting with him, it helps his mouth and maybe helps his throat muscles. Otherwise his speech is very mushy. chris

Congratulations to your grand niece.

Today's secret to success was taking a nap when I felt tired and discouraged. Had to use the portable generator for the cpap as the power was out. Very glad I had it.

In college I took of 89 lbs with WW. I was highly motivated. It took just less than a year to do that.

Very gradually, I gained some of it back and again lost 60 lbs with WW. But after that WW never helped me much. Now I don't like going to the meetings. I really love meeting friends here on SP.

I went to OA for maybe a year. And not for weight, but I did go to ALANON for 8 years. I really need their lessons on how to cope. I'd recommend that to anyone. Some of that I went 3X a week.

I just started an online food tracking site. LOSEIT
I just need to keep tracking my food. I am still having a very hard time doing that. emoticon

I was 10 lbs lower a couple of months ago. That felt very good. If I stayed there, I would have kept almost 30 lbs off for quite awhile. Alas, I am now battling that same 10 pounds again. I really believe it is my fatigue problem. I have gotten discouraged about that. I was just prescribed Provigil to keep me awak more in the daytime--and then sleep better all night. I am not yet built up to a full dose and actually I have totally run out of those pills now.

I have so many things I want to be doing. I just visited my youngest brother. It was a great afternoon chat. Another brother lives near here. Soon I will go see him.

It is wonderful seeing how their kids have grown up and had families of their own! Wow! Lots of things going on with them. Weddings and new babies, etc.

For one thing, one of my brother's grand daughters has just earned her doctorate in chemistry.

TOPS is not religious or political and it is cheap.

Thanks so much for all that! I might see if a biggest loser group is local, last time I looked we didn't have one.

My problem with a lot of weight loss groups is that I don't really share the same religious beliefs. Some groups keep the religious part of it fairly simple, but some really make it all about God. I need this to be about me making the right decisions, feeling responsible for my own life choices. While CA is notoriously liberal, my particular portion of SoCal isn't. Like not at all.

WW I actually liked the meetings, but they stopped having some at times I could go, and the few I was able to make it to became out of reach when I changed my schedule (or, rather, my son changed it). But I didn't enjoy the point system that much. It's so much work. I just want meetings like WW but with calorie counting.

So, my insurance co kept sending me postcards about a glucose management program. I kept ignoring them b/c I don't track that. I'm just over the border into pre-diabetic range, but none of my docs are worried about it (even though I am). So, at one point I called them b/c I wondered if there were other aspects that would benefit me. And it turns out you don't have to track your blood sugar to be in the program. I assume I'll have to get blood tests at some point, but they didn't really say how often. And they did say I don't have to track it.

I get a free Fitbit Versa Lite to use while I'm in the program. And free coaching. So...free sounds about right for me, and I'm hoping the coaching will provide the accountability I crave. I supposed time will tell. I don't have my welcome package yet (or the fitbit watch that comes with it), but I'm actually excited about starting the program.

What can I do for myself today?

My first OA group was fabulous. Great personalities and leadership. They followed the 12 Step program which when simplified really can be quite productive in getting the head back in shape.

Second OA group had a member who had been severely abused. The leader let her talk the whole hour week after week, never addressing any of the 12 steps. It wasn't helping the rest of us and it was not helping the woman either. She needed professional care and she also needed to see how the rest of us were coping and using the 12 steps. I quit when I realized this was not healthy for anyone.

I loved early 1970s & 80s WW, but the last two times I joined, I felt like I was paying $15.00 a week to listen to a sales pitch about WW products.

Several church based groups and Biggest Loser groups that were only six or ten weeks long. have been good for me too. Love the fact that there is a beginning and ending. It's like a high octane boost for other programs.

I have belonged to four different TOPS group over the years.

www.tops.org/TOPS/

You can visit different TOPS groups in your community for free one time each without joining. That will give you an idea of whether you want to join and if you do which group has the best personality for you. Cost is $32. a year for annual dues and usually around $5. a week or less for Chapter dues. There are also fun contests and fund raisers that are optional to participate in with small donations. Our group does several fund raisers and then we go on a beach retreat once a year. Weigh in is usually our time to socialize. The actual meeting lasts from 30-60 minutes depending on the program. They have made me healthier and happier.

Hope you find a good group near you too whether it is OA, TOPS or some other group. Let us know what you figure out.

Have any of you ever done OA? What's it like? I'd really like to get some in-person assistance, weekly, and with some sort of check-in (like a private weigh-in or a private reckoning of some sort). I liked the meetings with WW, but the eating plan and their meeting times just didn't work that well for me long-term. It's a good plan, don't get me wrong, just too much work for me at this phase of my life. I just don't have the time to devote to it.

What can I do for myself today?

And yet I had some eating issues last night, but it was not as bad as the night before. I think the positive self talk is important and it is good to see it in writing. Tonight I weigh in at TOPS. I am up two pounds and had four nights of binge eating on foods I neither wanted or needed. Just had the addictive behavior. I really wish we had an OA group next door at the Alano Club. I need something on Thursday evening to give me a mid week boost. My monthly health coach is a big help. SP helps. I never went back to my high set point after losing the initial 13 pounds with SP. My set point now seems to want to be about 18 pounds lower than 2008 weight. Of course I need to lose another 80 pounds to be considered healthy. I want clean arteries next summer when I have the ultrasound again. So with that said, today will be a great day food wise.

Hope you find the right balance for you.

So today, My Secret to Success is that I posted a note on the TV giving me permission to have a slushie when I watch the movie tonight instead of mindless snacking on corn chips. And one on the corn chips to remind me they are condiment only for my soups. And one on the fridge reminding me that moderation leads to better health. So far I have not had a binge today. Woohoo!

That psychiatrist said if the meds are working, he'd rather not change them. I do know it is hard starting a new medicine. Wean off the old one, then start slowly on the new one--or just stop the old one.

DD recommends Prystique. She says it helps her not be tired as well as help her depression.

Chris, I was having tremors and the docs wanted to add more medication. I wanted off the medication that was causing the tremors. So I weaned really slowly following all the advice on the internet .org and .edu sites. All kinds of things cleared up. Do you know why he is reluctant to wean you?

So happy for your daughter.

GD just got back from outdoor school. She is sleeping. Her mom said she would let me know how it went. I may have to drive to Portland tomorrow just so I can hear all the wonderful stories. My own daughter was one of the few brave enough to lick a slug. Their goo is analgesic.

Our daughter has been phoning and emailing me more than usual. She is working on digging her self out of her deep hole after years of using alcohol, etc. I am proud to say she is MUCH, MUCH improved. It has been very hard for her and a long process. but now she is giving me advice--good advice. Alleluia!

Thank you, Cathy! That helps me . I made a chart for my doctor of my sleeping. I take way too many naps and sleep too long. I barely am getting anything done. I hate this. I am working with him to help me stay awake--and alert-- more.

For him, for 20 days, I charted my daily hours of sleeping and being awake. Obviously I was sleeping lots in the daytime.

I asked him if reducing my depression meds would help. He did not want to reduce them. Shucks. I thought since Hubby is now in a nursing home and I am settled in a condo, my stress is much less. Anyway he wants to give me a med they use for people with narcolepsy. He sais to try it for a week to see if I can tolerate it. No bad side effects. I will (finally) get it today. Wish me luck!

You have it right. When I am in slow motion, I think how long something like washing the dishes would normally take me. 10 minutes when firing on all cells. So even though it took me all day to wash all the dishes, I only count that as ten minutes or 30 depending on how much cooking I did too. Usually takes me an hour to get bathed, hair dried and get dressed brush teeth, take pills. So if I got that done it is another hour. Then I feed Buds and walk him. Another 20 minutes. Etc. It doesn't have to be perfect, just an idea of how you are feeling so you can watch the trends and start identifying triggers. As I remember you had a really great and comprehensive chart.

Sunday, I drove to Longview and visited a church that my friend's son was preaching at. Went grocery shopping after. So there was five full hours of being alert and productive. Woohoo!.

Today, I feel blah, but the sun is shining, so I need to get Buds out in it.

What % am I running at? I need to think about that. I did not nap today but I slept late. And I was pretty slow doing stuff today.

I remember you teaching me about "functional hours" out of 10 possible hours.

How do you count it if you are awake but on slow speed?

Yes, Thank you. I would say I was running at 40% today. I did a few errands in the car and took Buds to Dog Park. Made big pot of soup to freeze. It turned out quite good. Took two naps. Feeling like a third, but I want to sleep tonight.

We are suppose to have frost in the morning. I am bringing in my patio plant. It looks so pretty. Not sure what to do. Either way it will be shocked. Apparently It doesn't like going below 40 degrees.

I had an epiphany the other day. Instead of beating myself up for all the misses, I wrote down everything I did right during the day in addition to the times and foods. That shift to a positive attitude has helped me to move forward again. Today was weigh in day, but TOPS is cancelled, so I weighed myself and I think I may have lost a little more weight. There is about a two pound difference in the two scales.

Staying Positive and getting friends on board to help and encourage you along the way. Stay away from friends that sabotage your goals. A lot of times they don’t even realize they are when they offer food. Remember food is used as gifts, friendship and comfort.

STAY POSITIVE AND SMILE. DON'T BE DISCOURAGED WHEN YOU HAVE A BAD DAY. THEY CAN ONLY GET BETTER.

I’m going to start tracking on spark again I had great success when I first started. We just have to continue to remember it is a lifetime of eating properly. An occasion splurge but occasional being the magic word,
I know I think I have this under control we don’t if we aren’t following through with the good eating habits all the time.

That was one of this month's goals with the health coach. I posted a note to remind me to journal every meal. I pinned it to the computer, but it fell off, so I think I will tape another one. Thank you.

My daughter came up with a good idea. Put a chair near the TV. A straight backed one. Use it to do PT exercises (or whatever). Her and I both have to do many daily exercises to keep pain away. My recent problem is my neck. The PT gave me 2 exercises to do 3 times each day. It doesn't sound like much but...Well, you know. Very easy tos kip!

The chair helps because I know I willonly be sitting there a few minutes to do the exercises. It is an obvious reminder. If I am in a comfy chair, I might consider doing the exercises, then just not do them.

I am big on putting notes around the house to remind me to do things. "AWARE" reminds me to slow down my eating and be aware of sit--using the 5 senses. "Morning routine list." "Evening routine list." I have these small signs all around my house.

But her idea was a little different. Her idea was to put such reminders (again) near the TV. emoticon She got a cheap frame and a stand to make it table top ready. She puts the "signs" on that with sticky notes. While watching TV it reminds her to do certain things.

It is so easy to fall into bad habits and so hard to keep the healthy habits consistent.
Hope this helps someone. chris

Thanks for this idea. Peanut butter from the fridge is much harder to spread! Great!

Putting the pnut butter jar in another jar and putting it in the fridge. Really slows me down when I am having a craving. I have to think about it. It is not right there in front of me doing a siren call.

Stationary bike. I have gone back to the gym! I started with the stationary bike because of my sore legs-probably from poor circulation. I soon will restart the pool classes--which I have loved for many years! chris

No sodas, drink lots of water, and park far away to get extra steps in.

Move more, eat less!

A really good doctor who believes food is medicine and is willing to work with me to change my lifestyle instead of poisoning myself with statins. Whole foods as close to nature as possible using fish and chicken only as condiments. Also not weighing every day. Not knowing what I am going to weigh in at TOPS keeps me well behaved all week.

I stopped drinking sodas. That seems to help a good bit.

If the plan doesn't work, change the plan, not the goal.
My goal is to be healthier, period !

I started eating 2 tblsp of sauerkraut a day. Cold fermented and never cooked.

I lost a few pounds and they seem to be staying off. Hurray!
