I can't believe it--I am actually losing weight! We are doing SOMETHING right! emoticon

Maybe 4 lbs in the past 2 months. That is HUGE for me!

I have had no school all week. My prayers were answered. I was paranoid about this week and I prayed about it. Well- we had a big storm last Saturday! the trees still had leaves--being still October!-- and the heavy snow brought down trees and branches. It is now Thur. evening and many people are still without power! The governor closed schools.

Well, I guess 4 Activia yogurts is better than 4 of many other things. But maybe you craved them after that weird combination.

Your story about school and the 3 Halloween chocolate eyeballs, is just too amazing! I taught for a long time, but that was a new one. Of course, I taught resource and mostly 6th grade. The funniest time I remember was trying to play Lois to our handsome young teacher's Clark Kent in a "telephone booth" constructed from a refrigerator box.

Oddly enough, one year we had a losing weight contest, and I beat out the same guy. He never really needed to lose, but just wanted to try the challenge. Stories were flying about people using laxatives, running miles, eating only hamburgers. Well, I won, but I was so sick the night before trying to not eat and just plain starving. Then after the weigh in, I had a stash I had bought on the way to school to eat. It really didn't taste as good as I thought, and I never starved myself again! (I was really thinking I was heavy at 5'7" and 136 pounds.)

Your principal sounds like he never taught!

I think I just ate too much. Darn. Read to the end..it gets interesting....

I am trying to follow the 8 week diabetic challenge diet. It has not much meat and lots of nuts. It is a little strange I think. I am not sure of their reasons for that set up. My breakfast and lunch followed their suggestions. I bought groceries after work and picked up some sushi. It was salmon slices over sticky rice. They were delicious. That was a treat and should have been the major part of my dinner.

After that I had this stuff: a mixture of heated black beans, sharp cheddar, salsa and brown rice. Not too bad so far.

I still was not full and had 4--yes 4----- Activia yogurts.



And at school today I ate 3 of the Halloween chocolate eyeballs!
I was mad because I had just been given a new class. The kids walked in and I did not know they were coming! Honest. The principal has been moving classes around without informing teacher of the changes! So I have to teach Maritime studies to 3 deaf students. I know the topic and I know how to teach deaf high school kids. BUT.... what sense does it make to just tell those students to come to me and the KIDS inform me of the change in plans. So I ate those chocolate eyeballs in anger!

Note you are here telling us about the cookies..so probably you limited yourself or maybe next time you will eat fewer cookies--or none. I think we are all becoming more aware of why we are eating. If we haven't eaten an a few hours, I see nothing wrong with a couple of cookies. But eating 1/2 box alone to soothe our hurts isn't a good idea. Chris

I've tried!! But like you mentioned...I can't spend that kind of money at the grocery store. I usually shop Aldi's and they don't carry a lot of the items. I do also shop Price Chopper & Hyvee but usually buy what's on sale or store brand. This week has been hetic with work, school activities, social gathering, etc., and meals just have not been planned. I struggle to find the time to post the foods I've eaten and the exercise I have done. It's one day at a time and doing the best I can at this household.

I am trying to follow the 8 week diabetic diet Challenge. I am in the 4th week and I have not followed a weeks' menus yet! Here are my problems --now that I finally sit down and analyze why I am not eating what they suggest emoticon :


1. I am finally taking the grocery list to the store with me! That took several weeks to accomplish! emoticon
2. I cant afford everything on the list so I skip things--then I get home and don't have the ingredients for a "required" recipe. So I wing it and don't eat what I should be eating.
3. I am just today--for this week--printing the week's grocery list AND the recipes that go with it! emoticon Before-- I tried printing the week's menus. That did not help me. I needed the RECIPES, not the menus! Live and learn!
4. If I bought cheese, I'd eat it all the first 4 days of the week. Now that means cheese for several weeks was eaten! emoticon So, today I plan to buy several slices of each cheese. I won't buy the several kinds in whole packages like I tried before.


I CANNOT shop daily! And if I try to shop just once a week, the bill for that week is way too expensive. I CANNOT store certain things till the day of the week needed! Like cheese for example. Even a whole box of cereal is very tempting for me. And when I make something like muffins, well, I eat them all in about 2 days, even if I freeze them!

I have been at this for years--um, like 40 years! Having a menu for the whole week sounds wonderful. "JUST" eat those things and nothing else. The weight would disappear. I'd always be under my calorie limit! Problem solved. Well- it ain't that easy McGee!
