Yay! I'm glad everyone wants to try it! It was really centering tonight at dinner. Mu husband is away for work again so it's just me and the cats. I actually sat at the kitchen table, not the coffee table in the living room. Awesome.

Spicy Tuna Rolls:
I see 8 squat nuggets of yumminess, waiting for the wasabi and ginger
I hear the clink of the chop sticks as I grab a roll and squeeze
I smell the ginger
I taste the blended flavors of wasabi, tuna, avocado, ginger...
I feel the rice squish in my mouth as the tuna wasabi and ginger explode
I feel the wasabi climb up my nose....
At the end, I feel warm and full

I take my time with each roll, carefully placing the ginger and wasabi and ginger and soaking it in the soy sauce. I notice the strudiness of these rolls, they do not fall apart as they soak in the soy sauce. I chew and taste each roll...

It's like meditating, each time my mind wanders to something unrelated, I gently reign it back in.

Best spicy tuna rolls ever. emoticon

about troubles with mindful eating, I wrote:

"I am trying to eat at least meal a day without doing anything else. I don't know this is so difficult! I automaticaly reach for the phone or a book/magazine or anything else to do while eating. Having the one meal without any distractions has been a challenge but is making me more aware of the meal itself... I know as a busy mommy, this may be tricky to squeeze in one a day wihtout distractions, so maybe aim for 1 meal every couple of days or 2 a week? It really is eye opening.... maybe we should blog about that mindful meal... like a 5 senses poem....

I see:
I hear:
I taste:
I smell:
I feel: (touch)
I feel: (emotion)

Julie (Julesmcgee) had a fab idea to have a thread to share our own Mindful eating poems! I aim for at least one meal distraction free (tv, music, computer, phone, etc). My students have a lot of success getting in touch with their senses and emotions by using these templates as a jumping point!

Let's "see" how much we can get in "touch" with our food expereices!
