Natheless I do agree with you, both petitions are ridiculous, childish.

The impression that I have with all those petitions is that Americans (at least part of them) do not understand what DEMOCRACY means. Democracy is not to be good only if I win. Don’t you guys learn that in school?

Shirley, I do not know how life was on the 50s, but I imagine that life without internet, cell phones and all the medical technology of the last decades should suck… LOL

Wait a second…. Thinking on the way you put it Myrea, I think I could get used to live in the 50s….. LOL

Even growing up in the 70's I remember the kids book that said
"Boys grow up to be doctors. Girls grow up to be nurses.
Boys grow up to be firemen. Girls grow up to be teachers."

My mom burned it.

Being female and rised to believe youcould be anything you wnted to be is unusual for that decade shirley..not at all the experience many of us had. The HS counselors at our HS only mentioned nursing, teaching and secretarial work as career possibilities for the girls even in 1959 to 1962 in the State of CA. You are older than I, but not by eons.

Well I guess it goes to show the difference in the generations as I'm the oldest who posts here.As far as brains my earthly father considerd me a female Einstien. He thought I was the most intelligent child who ever breathed.I agreed of course.LOL-in the backwoods town where I was raised a female doctor was the most respected and rich person in the town. There is something to be said for the midwest after all.Really in the 50'I was raised to believe I could be anything I wanted to be.I had the greatest parents and teachers. emoticon

You couldn't get me to live in the 50's for all the money in the world.

Stay at home. Be the perfect mother. Defer to the man in all cases. Women are weak. Women can't handle money. Women can't do simple math. Better to leave them in the home where their tiny little brains won't be over-used.

No. I'd kill myself first - and I'm not exaggerating.

Life during any period has it's ups and downs. The 50's society lived in a vacuum. The only thing they knew was wat went on in their immediate area.

So tired of their lame, "take our country back" theme. Back to what?

Hah! I have always wanted a "rolling eyes" emoticon!

Then we could have a contest on the soap to see which one of us generates the most eye rolling...

Three guess who would win.

On another website I suggested that those that are so unhappy with the direction of the country wait until 2016 for another chance to "take their country back." Then I remembered that Hilary will probably take that one, too.

I guess they'll have to wait till their next generation. Maybe by then conservatives will have evolved back into the "big tent" party they thin k they've always been.

And apparently, Obama sucks at running his totalitarian regime. What kind of a dictator opens a website where ordinary people can write and vote on petitions to the government?

Yep..we aren't called the UNITED States of America for nuthin' ..they don't want that concept anymore. They obviously also don't want free elections, and majority rule (cuz Obama got the most popular votes AND electoral votes) or to abide by the people's choice for the next four years, then try again as our system is supposed to do. Appears they want a dictatorship,, perhaps in some cases a theocracy, that forces all to adhere to their wishes, even tho the voters disagreed and it's a bascally anti American premise. Since they aren't getting what they want the hope to take their toys and go home. Sadly for them, this is home..and not just theirs..

The people who "Love America" so much that they want to leave and create a new country where no one disagrees with them are SO much more knowledgeable.

*rolleyes*

If the people signing those petitions want out of America so bad, the borders are open. They should get packing.

I agree Nat.

Is anyone surprised we have people in 50 states that didn't vote for Obama?

Who is violating free speech? I don't think there's any oppression involved in answering a stupid petition to secede from the US with another stupid petition.

Online petitions are hardly legally binding. As we've seen lately, anyone can start one, and any fool can sign one.

I am personally most fond of the petition for Austin to secede from Texas if Texas secedes from the US.

This is it, my only life. A work in progress.

Ticker reflects current short-term goal.

Uber ignorance.

The signers, so far, must not know the Bill of Rights - or don't care.
