LMAO! Hah! I think both of those women have worn both the batchit crazy mantel and the opportunistic one at different times in their political careers. And sometimes they've worn them both at the same time.

Val...we just have to use the same yardstick we use with other candidates to weed out the koolaid drinkers from those who will actually earn our respect through their record.

We need to steer clear of the batchit crazy and the opportunistic when voting for women, just as we have learned to when voting for men all these years. I'll leave it to you to decide which one of those mentioned I'd designate as batchit crazy, and which one as opportunistic..

I know you would think that more women in office would improve and secure the rights of women. But the reality is that the "wrong" woman can do immense damage to women's rights, i.e. Michelle Bachman, Sarah Palin, etc...

ITA. Starting at local levels and working our way up. Voting is just the tip of the iceberg.

That was a huge part of former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm's message at the Rally in DC April 28. Until we do, it's become painfully obvious that we remain unrepresented, or inadequately represented in the House and Senate, and in State and local governments. In fact, unrepresented to a dangerous degree, as has been illustrated in all the proposed and/or passed legislature.that has /will negatively impact women's rights recently. Our numbers in government should reflect our numbers in the voting booths..

So true Bridie. I'd go one step further and say we need to take a page out of the far right's handbook (as much as it pains me to day that) and vote women into office...any office. Just get them in so that we can work from within.

On the subject of State's Rights, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed into law the blocking of any funding to Planned Parenthood regardless of the fact that the law that limits governing federal funding of actual abortion procedures.

On the same day Ms Brewer signed, Federal courts decided that Texas could not block federal funding to Planned Parenthood for women's health care.

How many times will states pass laws that infring on federal statutes.

How many more times will the GOP publicly slap women down while fighting for lower taxes and less regulations for their "good, old boys club?"

I'm going to surprise you all.I think marijauna should be legal but for medical reasons only.It does stop nausea and help patients with cancer sleep. Also I even believe Heroin should be legal but only under doctor's supervision. The reason Heroin should be legal for people in severe pain like end stage cancer with a doctor's supervision is it is much stronger than morophine. If you saw people twisting in agony as I have you would think it should be legal too but only with medical supervision.I do think pot will be legal at some point just so the government can tax it like cigarettes and liquor. emoticon

ITA..it's hard for me to see the issue in any light other than that it needs to be legalized and tax marijuana across the board. The way we have been dealing with it here promotes crime, costs a fortune and hasn't worked. Again, I don't have the problem with Nancy Pelosi that you do Pop..I don't alwys agree with her every utterance.

Ok. And the problem is where? I only disagree because I think marijuana should be made legal. Simple as that. But otherwise, I really do not see a problem with Pelosi's position... Maybe I need sunglasses too.

Why? She's fighting for rights not restrictions. Conservatives believe restricting freedoms is a state right.

After reading this, I'm seriously afraid the world will end on December 31, 2012.
