Any opinion from me will be, naturally, tainted. But I have always think he is an idiot, and there is no reason to change that opinion now...

homosexuality is not contagious, cannot be taught, neither can be transferred. "alternative life style", i can thing of a dozen of the top of my head that do not involve sex. Anyway. I love glee and I have to watch it on the computer because I am sleeping when it goes on, and I do, and I love it.

Ceelee, that scene makes me cry every time I see it. i wish I had had that kind of support.

Val...IF only!

I watch Glee and think they are sometimes over the top, but they are handling the gay issues that face some teens both sensitively and realistically. I can't help feeling a little sorry for Gretchen Carlson's son. His mom's not the brightest bulb in Fox's chandelier.

Myrea...that show with Kurt's dad is my favorite. Here it is for those of you who haven't seen it.

Eventually the viewers of FOX News programming will die off. Then maybe the fear mongering will die with them.

Explaining things to my kids was never a problem. Kids don't live in a glass bubble. They will always have questions, and they will always need thoughtful non prejudicial answers in order to grow up and inherit this old world of ours and survive. That's a parent's job. The 8 yo may be more ready for answers than the parent who seems uncomfortable giving them.

I watched the first two seasons of Glee, with glee.

This season kind of started feeling flat and soap-operaish to me so I only saw a few episodes.

I can say that from what I've seen, teen sexual issues are dealt with in a way that is more real than any after-school special or episode of 90210.

Yes, some of the teens are gay. One boy has been gay and out the whole time, and is rather effeminate. One of the cheerleaders came out early this season. Both have had some serious problems because of it, but they also have some amazing support. The boy, Kurt, was seriously bullied, and at one point had to be pulled out of school for fear of his safety. The girl, Santana, was kicked out of her grandmother's house and asked never to return for the "shame" of coming out.

On the other hand, Kurt's father (a real man's man, mechanic, football fan, etc.) put his new relationship in jeopardy by suppoting Kurt in a conflict with his potential step-brother. I've seen that episode three times and it still brings tears to my eyes. I hope if my kids ever face so difficult an issue, I'll be as strong and supportive as Burt Hummel. The Glee coach, of course, is always trying to gain acceptance for kids no matter what their differences.

On the whole I wouldn't say that Kurt or Santana's experiece is the kind of thing that's going to make kids go out and "try it" because they see it on TV.

Also, from episode one, Glee has had teen sex, bullying, rude and crude topics and generally a lot of things that I don't think your average 8-year-old needs to be seeing.

If Gretchen Carlson is having trouble explaining Kurt and Blaine to her 8-year-old, how did she tell him about Quinn's pregnancy from a one-night stand, and her lies to her virgin boyfriend to convince him he was the father? What about the episode where they all got drunk? What does she tell him about the girl who brags about sleeping with every boy on the football team?

Those issues she's fine with, but put a boy in a dress and it's all "they're forcing me to explain it to my kid."

LOL @ Penny..yep, he's an ignorant A$$hat. Either that or it was a slow news day, or maybe Rupert ordered a push on the Anti gay agenda.
