Great ideas! Except I don't know about the fasting one. I would have to know more about that, like how often you do that. Personally, I don't want to ever stop eating entirely because I work out for at least 2 hours a day. I love how I feel when I am working out, and wouldn't want to trade that for anything. Yeah, it's work, but it's also my recess!

My tip is similar to IndyGirl's, make sure you are eating enough throughout the day. I started tracking my nutrition again, because I wasn't losing weight, and I found out that I usually under-ate. That set me up for insomnia and these huge cravings. Some days I went way over what I should have, and some days not enough. Now I am eating in a more balanced way, and I feel better and expect to see something positive happening with the scale.

And drink plenty of liquids! Don't let yourself get dehydrated.

Boy, was I ticked to have gained 9 pounds the day after surgery! I asked my doctor if that was normal and yes, it was. I've gained from medicine changes, certain types of medicines, other surgeries and although I expect it now, it always upsets me. BUT now I have a plan and now I have half of that weight off a week later. How?

Drink your water and flush out all of the yuck, keep yourself fuller, and compensate for the fact that hunger and thirst both register in the same part of the brain and can get you confused with their signals.

Keep low calorie foods handy for noshing, because sometimes certain medicine changes or medicines make you hungry. Save higher calorie foods for meals. Almonds or walnuts, although higher cal, do make a satisfying snack at 1 ounce 20 minutes before a meal and they help you eat less.

Try to track and TIME your eating. It isn't all about what you eat, it's when you eat also. eating every 3-4 hours in a snack like fashion with a little carbs, some protein, and some healthy fat can keep you from experiencing the ravaging hunger that some medical things can bring on. Keep in mind that dairy, breads, beans, veggies, and fruits all have carbs in them.

Bring on the fiber and protein to stay full.

Reset your Spark Weight Goal often as you lose of gain because your calorie needs change. Go to your start page, then see where it says TRACK WEIGHT... there is a little tab in light letters underneath it that says EDIT GOALS. Click that. That's where you can update your new weight goal, decide how much you want to lose per week or by what date you want to lose a particular amount of weight. Then let the tracker keep you moving in the right direction by tracking your food daily.

If these tips look like the same tips you have to take to lose every other kind of weight, yes, you caught on. The trick with all weight loss is diligence and persistence. You have to really really want it, even in the middle of the night when the fridge calls. So plan for those snacks too- ahead of time.

Life is happening now, not 10 pounds from now.

230 lbs lost without surgery, crazy diets, diet products, or extreme exercise- so have hope!

make habits, not (healthy) choices.

40% or more of the things we do during the day don't involve thinking: switching on and off the lights, drinking water, closing the doors....
the less thought you put into your program of choice, the more likely you are to follow through the end.
go in Auto pilot mode: eat the right things, do the right things, ignore temptation as if that cake weren't edible.auto-pilot. that cake isn't there for me to eat; that's not included in my program. i don't even see a cake.

Educate yourself. I ate mindlessly for 56 years. The last 2 years I have educated myself on the best way to eat for my body.

Be kind to yourself. I used to be really hard on myself, which would lead to frustration, and I'd get off track. It was only after I learned to be kind and forgive myself that I was able to succeed.

I actually take turmeric in a spice mixture of tumeric, ginger, cinnamon, clove and black pepper (6:3:3:1:0.5 ratio). It spices up my coffee and smoothies while helping my inflamation, pain, arthritis, and liver function since I live on arthritis strength Tylenol.

I take turmeric every day by capsule. I have noticed a change! I also use the table form sprinkled on my food.

It was recommended to me years ago by a Hindu M.D. [Indian] doctor.

Turmeric can help with nerve pain and inflamation. I am allergic to all anti inflammatory drugs so it's essential for me.
