Fruit/veggie smoothies are my current favorite binge stopper. It's an easy way for me to get my veggies in and the fruit gives it some natural sweetness (love my sweets emoticon )

about gums- spearmint and peppermint are natural appetite suppressants.
I've found that (hooo emoticon ooot) cinnamon flavor works for me too, but not fruit flavours.

I love that ready salad idea. I find it also helps me to make a big batch of light soup in my crockpot. I have healthy snacks and lunches then for several days when I 'need' to feed.

Planning and cooking the meals for the whole week. I always know what to eat and have it ready to go. I use a lot of SALAD IN A JAR. I vacuum seal the mason jars after layering the ingredients. The ready salads last the whole week in perfect condition. .

I'm glad you put those cookies into the garbage. My thought would be to fill a sink with soapy water and stick the cookies in it to soak. Your husband would get the message when he saw them in the sink. If he came at you with a gun, you'd get rid of the gun. Cookies are just as life-threatening to you when you're trying to get control of poor eating and get healthy. It seems like he needs a strong visual so he can remember next time to keep the goodies out of the house. We can get support from our loved ones, but sometimes we have to demand it.

I found by being honest and confessing my binge to all of my spark teams that has help tremendously. The cookies are out of the house and in the outside garbage can and not in me.
And that feel's so good. Thank you all so much for the support. Being honest and having a support group in place is the best ever. Confession is good for the soul. God really knew what He was talking about. Didn't He.

It's an emtional thing for me with the cookies. I haven't seen my grandchildren in 3 yrs. Their mother took them out of state and lost them to DCF in PA. And PA favors the mother. My son moved there to be close to his kids, but rarely does he get to see them. Even more so now that they have been reunited with the mother. He's constantly worried about them, since she married a guy on parole. But what can you do? She always refused to marry him, she told him she didn't believe in marriage. It was just a piece of paper. I only get to talk to them on the phone and that is when she decides to answer. But I am learning to cope. I just need a little more support from my husband. But I know I can do this. I am stronger than I know. I have the power to turn away from temptation. I CAN DO THIS. I WILL DO THIS. I AM WORTH MORE HEALTHY Than SICK.. WE CAN OVER COME BINGE EATING!!
Hallelujah!! I WILL DO THIS BY THE POWER OF JESUS CHRIST!!! AMEN I WILL OVER COME!! emoticon

If I feel like snacking I stop and think iif I am really hungry or if it is just a craving. or an emotion or even thirst. I will drink some water, do something to occupy myself and see how I feel in 10-15 minutes. Most of the time I forget all about wanting something to eat. If I do grab something, it is fruit, yogurt and weighed. I make sure I have the calories for it.

emoticon Beth is so right.. But in this instance, I think it's better if I sneak a few to the dogs and the rest into the trash bin. When I think if what I have accomplished so far, this should be a piece of cake. No pun intended. It's just right now I'm trying to kick the caffiene habit. I have kicked drinking sodas, sugar substitutes, salt. I can go months without having a diet soda, and I drink ice tea with out any thing at all, I take it like I did my coffee black unsweetened, no sugar substitute.

Thanks for the Support I Need All I can Get!! ICan, I Will Do This, I Deserve to Be Thin, emoticon emoticon

OMGosh!! I could just scream. I thought finally we were on the same page. I don't know what happened to my husband or what the heck he was thinking this afternoon. But it has been raining all day, so I didn't get in my walk to the park. I did 10 minutes in the house and 100 crunches. I'm feeling great about myself and I've finally become a co-leader on one of my other teams. So he goes out in the rain and comes back with chips and cookies. He knows I've kicked the potatoe chip habit and can deal with those in the house, but cookies. That is still a trigger food. They remind me of my grown sons and grandkids, it's an emotional thing for me. I haven't seen them in years and it really hurts. My sons were never into eating candy or junk food. But when I baked cookies, they loved them with a glass of milk. My younger son would take his and eat them like cereal. He would crumble them in his glass of milk and eat them with a spoon. If I took them trick or treating, I always wound up giving their candy away to my co-workers. When my grand kids came along, I had started them off like I did their father, with a small baggie and healthy cereal or fruit. I would tell them that was their candy and always a home made cookie was a special treat around the holidays. I've already had 8 cookies. But I am determined to stop there. I desreve to stop there. I can stop there. I can do this. I have your support. I have the support of God!! I can I will do this!! No one is forcing me to eat unhealthy and eating cookies is not going to help me see my grand kids. I know this.
emoticon emoticon I Deserve it!! Praise the Lord!!

something that helps me is drinking a one-serving can of low-sodium V8 juice. It has 35 calories, and i buy the low-sodium version just because i prefer the taste. Of course they also make "regular" and "spicy." That one miniature can curbs my appetite like few other things do.

I plan and track in advance my weekly meals. I plan my meals every Friday, do the chopping on Sundays and the cooking on Mondays and Tuesdays. That helps me to lessen the binges.

Like SMART4ANDREY, when I want to eat something "inconvenient," I start thinking about my choices: the "inconvenient" food or something that I already have prepared in advance.

Also, in my weekly plan, I leave one meal a week for a free-choice-no-track meal that I pick regardless of calories, fat, sugar, etc. During the week, I keep thinking what I am going to have for that meal.

Since I started this journey, I decided that I will have fatty-little-nutritious-delicious Mexican tamales, when I reached 25 lbs down. Well, I am very glad to inform you that this Sunday, I will have my very expected tamales.

Sparking. I guess it depends on what you call a binge. To me a binge is eating too much at a meal and going over my calorie count for that day. To others its not being able to stop. Thank goodness since I have been on spark I have not had the second one happen but, that's not to say it will not one day. I think it's because I have spark people.com on my mind all day long and I spend hours reading, answering blogs, tracking and my mornings exercising. I am retired and this is what I choose to do with my retirement. Another thing is I won't let myself binge. I guess I am afraid if I do I won't be able to stop. So I guess the answer is sparking.

i remind myself of how far i've come.
number1 reason why people fail is because they choose to see how far they need to go, not how far they've reached.
and i also think of my nutrition tracker. :)
do i want to see an excessive calorie intake at the end of the day, or do i want to see that i'm within range, congratulate myself and happy go to sleep?
but since it's been going on for quite a while now, i have to agree with smart4andrey too.
it's starting to become a habit; and there's no return after that.

I already know quite a few foods that trigger my IBS.

About a month ago I gave up bread because of the Gluten. No problem until yesterday, which I suspect is a stomach virus.

That being said, I know certain foods or overeating, period will have me spending time in the bathroom; cramps and nausea. Just not worth it!

I think a little differently Beth: I wait to see what I get to eat "after I exercise".. Exercise is hard enough to do for me without having to think of it as a recovery plan from over eating.. emoticon I like that feeling of having earned "more" so I can have a snack at the end of the day. (Of course we exercise at the end of the day though.. so, that makes a difference too.)

A binge stopper for me: is my baked chicken breasts which we bake every week to keep on hand; 2 ounces throughout the day if needed or even if I eat just one whole breast it tides me over for hours [no sauces just Mrs Dash Seasoning]. Also, a big stir fry made with ex-lean burger and 3 or 4 bags of frozen mixed vegetables. We add different sauces to our plate.. Master Piece, All Seasoning or Lawys [then you can switch them up as we make enough to last 10 servings]. Frankly, these two things are key for me to recover.. they curb my apatite the best! (For lunch or dinner I love 3 oz of chicken cooked with a full bag of coleslaw mix.. Caribbean Jerk sauce for taste! YOU CAN'T beat that! YUM!) emoticon

Good thread/ love the thought!

My binge stopper was having gastric sleeve surgery. Anything over 8-10 bites and I get sick and that just isn't worth it to me. I'd rather just have a few bites and be satisfied than to stuff my face and be miserable.

My current stopper is habit:), it's self sustaining, requires zero will power and acts on it's own.
But, you need time to develop it, it took me almost a year.
Before that I used mindful comparison, like if I see pizza I don't ask myself "Will I eat this slice?", cause eating - not eating choice has always been lost cause for me.
Instead I ask "Do I want this slice of pizza or grilled chicken with salad, or cookies?".
This way fat heavy food, like pizza, don't stand a chance, but if it wins - I'll have it and enjoy every piece of eat.

I remember to myself that the less I eat, the less I have to work off. One slice of pizza will always have less calories than two. Two less than 3...

Life is happening now, not 10 pounds from now.

230 lbs lost without surgery, crazy diets, diet products, or extreme exercise- so have hope!
