I haven't been there in about fifteen years, but my grandparents farm was pretty much up the mountain in Cape Fair - I just remember there was a big crucifix when you came down the mountain into Branson. I will warn traffic can be horrendous so if you want to do things on the main strip, you might want to seek out a place to stay where walking is an option.

And now I'm just remembering going to Silver Dollar City as a kid (I spent my summers on my grandparents farm - so cliche). Fire in the Hole!

I used to teach carving at a seminar yearly for about 7-8 yrs. at Silver $ City. We love the area so much we bought property just over the border and are planning to move there next year (building a home).
There is a beautiful state park if you plan to camp. That's what we do. It is very reasonably priced and very nice. Just south from Branson, right on the edge of town more or less. Near the dam. If you go there are places you can get shows at a cheaper rate, I know we could have the last time we were down a few weeks ago at the Branson mall. Stop in at the visitors centers, they have coupons or cut rates also. We have seen some wonderful shows there. We were lucky enough to see Andy Williams a few years ago and his guest star that year. I can never remember her name, but she sang the song "Downtown" years ago and Andy was very good, but she was WONDERFUL. Absolutely fabulous show. Another show we enjoyed was the Magnificent Seven, which are not big name stars but the show is a patriotic theme, I believe always. Ofcourse the show changes, but it was really very good. It was a dinner show. Those have been our favorites I think. Only one we were ever disappointed in was the Irish dancing one, can't think of the name. It got long and rather boring. I don't think it is there any longer, not sure. Have fun.

YES!!!! I have been there and I do love it. I don't know much about planning anything there, however. I can tell you the shows and attractions can be expensive unless you get a book ahead of time to save $. Also the natural scenery and little shops of the area highly outrank the theaters and attractions. I'll talk to my aunt Nancy about getting a brochure for you or where you can get one with the coupons.

Check out this website www.explorebranson.com. It has lots of info and you can sign up for a newsletter that will tell you about upcoming events and info about the area. We have been down there several times and there is a wide variety of activities.

Has anyone been to Branson or live there? We are wanting to plot a family get together there for my Mom's 80th b'day. It would be great to get thoughts on different places to stay or places with good packages. If my Dad continues to feel good we plan to head there in May so I have a little time to get plans made. Thanks!!

Which came first, the tornado or the travel trailer??
