So do I...since my PM Hooverism is my major problem, and keeps my blood sugar crazy...I will focus on that "one" thing for the next month....I know when the sugar is stable and the weight starts dropping, I will feel more energetic and willing to do more. I have dropped 2.6 pounds since Sunday's high of 209...and that's a blessing! I say...I'll do what I can, until I can do more.. that requires me to unplug from my recliner!

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

I came back home last night after being away in Nassau for 6 days. Spent a beautiful christmas with family and friends. Had trouble staying on my sensible food plan but hopefully I didn't do too much damage. Looking forward for another chance to work at my weight loss goals.

Good advice Paul.
Today I am working on exercise. I got up early 3:00 am and did 3 fitness workout videos. I did eat a bowl of oatmeal first. And then later ate an apple. I want to go have coffee and a donut, I got a Starbucks gift card for Christmas. I read some where that a Sparker has a plain cup of coffee with whip cream and a drizzle of low calorie chocolate. I can't get it out of my head, I want to try it. She said it was less calorie then the mocha latte I usually get

Welcome to Thriving Thursday!

We are all on this journey with one goal in mind.... to be successful or to thrive. One way to be successful is to accomplish one little thing at a time. Today concentrate on one area that may be a little off and work at making it successful today.

I am home and back to work today...and back on track. Christmas day, I made a bad move and had a piece of peach pie and coolwhip (and more than a dollop, too)...my sugar check was 392 afterwards. emoticon ...and I felt sick. So I skipped dinner. Had a snack at 9:00. Sugar came down to 166...and then FBS yesterday morning was 320. emoticon
Not good. I need one of Paul's butt kickin's. (cute poem BTW!)

I really like the idea of the "light" meal. My Mom still thinks we need it all. I did get her to do one package of stuffing instead of a big pan to throw out later....and asked her to pull back on the margarine to simmer the celery and carrots. She had close to a half cup and was going for another scoop! Oh well...I'll just watch my portions and have the dinners as long as I have her with me. Only God knows how much time we have.

Kudos for you all who exercised control, stayed alert and made wise choices despite the Christmas food spread...

Have a blessed day...
Bren

I have my crock simmering away with a pork and vegetable stew, tons vegetable and little bit of roasted leftover pork. I had gotten the pork from the supermarket already seasoned last month. I thought it was to salty but did not throw it out. I just put it in the freezer for now. I cut it up and put it in the crock pot with potatoes, celery, onions and peppers. I did not season it as I feel the pork will season it enough.
Hubby is warming up the leftovers from last night for lunch I think I well have a bit of collard greens.

I am well pleased in how I did with my eating yesterday, more then I ususally do but still pleasing to me and I had a few sweets that I have not had since last year, so all in all a very good eating celebration.

I did ok until it came time to put the leftovers away. I put some away in my tummy. emoticon It just smelled so good and I just wanted to relieve the day, I guess. I only went over by about 160 calories. I guess that's not too bad. But I didn't get any exercise in yesterday and I wanted to do at least 10 mins. I will get some in today since we are supposed to get 9-12" of snow and we're halfway there!!!

Ate at my mother-in-law's last night. Instead of the usual big spread, she served just the turkey breast (oven-roasted to perfection) with several finger foods, salad, etc. I was relieved, and enjoyed the "lighter" meal. We played several games of Yahtzee afterwards.

Hooya! On the weight loss, working out and advanced planning. Yippee!

Awww...that breaks my heart about the poor mistreated animals at that place. Your family is a blessing to that horse...and love and healing time are just what he needs. I pray your investment is returned a hundred fold. Blessings to you....also SO glad you got your dog back!

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

Just dropped in for a quick notice and then I am out. I will return in the wee hours of the morning.

First thing, I HAVE SNOW BACK AT HOME safe and sound with me. That’s the best thing that has happen to me personally in days. So thank you all for your prayers and concerns. While I was out today my hubby got a call from a neighbor on our road. She opened the March of Dimes envelope and found the flyer on snow. She call instantly saying that she had seen snow at her neighbors home. Two young men renting an old farm house on 2 acres. My hubby went to the farm and one of the boys told him that the dog had been there and they didn’t know who owned it. He said they checked around and no one knew who owned her. He also told my husband that his roommate had the dog and was at work. He asked where the roommate worked and was told Advance Auto Parts. My hubby left our phone number and ask if he could have the other man call us when he got home.

The hubby not wanting to wait….decided to take a trip to Advance. When he got there…he found MY DOG….lying there behind the counter with my harness on her….and a collar with a tag…that read Empress – if found call (his phone number). Well what could he say….so he turned over the dog to us. My hubby gave him 100.00 for feeding her for the week…and taking care of her. I was happy to have her home so I am not going to say anything, but I know that they were trying to keep her. Not only did she have a name tag and collar on, but they received the same letter from us that their neighbor did. I am going to send the reward to the lady that called my hubby. She called back a second time asking if we got the dog. Thank goodness for honest people. Now I can have a Merry Christmas without worry.

About Lucky – the horse that came in…this was done by a piece of metal sticking out of an old feeder in a pasture. It should have been removed maybe years ago…it was so rusted it was rotted. Playing horses can get into things…no matter how..but having something like this around open is negligent.. Once he was cut his owners did not want to spend the money to fix him…so they called a local vet to have him put down. When the Vet came to service the animal she refused and called the authorities at what she observed around the farm. The horses were removed along with 19 dogs living in the barn in filth. That’s when we got the call for help. Lucky will be fine but this will take months to heal and I do not know how much it will cost and how much time it will take to heal him. The concern is not only infection, but we do not want proud flesh to grow in lumps around the wound. So we have to keep cutting the flesh off and letting it heal from the inside out. The wound is too large to hold sutures. I’ve seen this bad before just never this large of an area at one time. The bottom line is he will be fine now….and well I guess he will get broke to ride and eventually become a pretty cool looking horse. Right now I am looking at least Spring before we can do much with him but love him and keep him clean.

Talk to you all later…

Joanna

I know I did good today and my day is just starting. I am going to do more exercise videos after lunch.
I read the blog and it really hit home, thanks for sharing it.

Loved the BLOG. Sure hit home and made me think......

It's suppost to hit 25 tonight. Winds were up to 60 mph through the night lastnight and in the 30mph's today. Winters coming in with a blast this year. I'm ok with it because I LOVE cold weather!
Wrap up and snuggle!

Yes, her blog is important and so true. Loving ourselves where we are at and being kind and compassionate to ourselves like we would to a friend or even a stranger is a good habit to get into so that we can reach our visions and goals that we have for our own bodies and lives.

I would consider this having self respect for one's self and also self esteem which does take time and work to acheive that.

So, let's strive for accepting who we are and then even liking who we are without judging ourselves too harshly. We need to give ourselves some lee way because we are not perfect, no one is perfect.

I have a thirst for eating healthier today. I am going to eat more vegetables. I started by having a spinach salad for a snack. I am adding tomato and lettuce to my lunch sandwich and am having home made vegetable beef soup for dinner. Today is vegetable day.

Today is Thirsty Thursday. Thirst can come in many different forms... Thirst for something to drink, thirst for knowledge, thirst for changes. Whatever thirst you need quenched this morning, Think about it. What can you do to satisfy that thirst?

I am the healthiest I have ever been in my life! I have more energy than i know what to do with at times. I can't believe that I was on the brink of death, living in a wheelchair unable to do things for myself. Surgery saved my life!
