I definitely understand MadeIt3. For most of my career, I've stuck with the best paying gigs -- business, marketing and tech writing. Now I'm retired and I'm looking at what I want to do.

Lucky is the writer who can write whatever he or she wants! I have another, less attractive but practical approach. I work on whatever is marketable. Since I decided early on that if I wanted to write I'd better figure out how to get paid for it, I found this the only way to go. I never wanted to end up as a "starving" writer.

Marcia, I agree with fitadmin.
My heart tugs and I'm useless unless/until I write what's right there.

I think this is a question all writers struggle with. I know I have many projects running at times and finding the balance is not easy. I tend to work on whatever is calling to me. If you are drawn to the children's book go for it. If the other project is calling you work on that and finish that up. Sometimes it is as easy as what project is on your heart as a writer. Open up each one and see if it speaks to you....then you will know:)

Weight is a number that you have total control over:)

I have two really different projects that I'm working on -- a screenplay about high-level corruption AND a children's book series. Right now I'm feeling like I should choose one and finish it.

Does anyone else ever have problems focusing on one project? If so, how do you decide which to choose?
