I think it has been around a week since I started SparkPeople, and surprisingly, after just 1 week, I have lost 7.6 lbs. What's even more surprising is that I'm finding it very easy and fun to do! I never thought I'd see the day when I said that cutting calories, and running 3-4 days a week would be fun, but for some strange reason, I actually look forward to tracking my nutrition and hitting the streets for my daily walk/job. Training for the 5k...and on my off days, I actually go walking with my wife, so it works out great! Thanks SparkPeople! You guys are the beezneez!!! :)

I was really quite scared to get on the scale this morning. I decided to weigh in weekly rather than daily, as I get obsessed with the number on the scale. I then decided though I found and joined SparkPeople on Thursday, August 18, I'd make Saturdays my weigh-in days, as Saturdays are when I have the most time to add fitness activities and cook/prepare food for the week ahead, so if I had a disappointing weigh in, I had Saturday to plan and prepare for the next week.

My fear of stepping on the scale this morning is due to having had to eat *more* to comply with the nutritional guidelines in the tracker, which seems like the wrong thing to do, but I promised myself 100% compliance so I did it. Though I felt like I'd lost weight, I was not convinced the scale would have changed. The feeling was right, as since I started tracking nutrition and fitness on SparkPeople, I lost 7 pounds. Whew! I know that rapid loss won't continue, and wouldn't be good if it did, but it's an encouraging start.

Thanks SparkTeam for sharing all your successes, encouragement, and positive attitude. We CAN do this!

Kaizen, Japanese for "continuous improvement" or "change for the better," refers to philosophy or practices that focus upon continuous improvement of processes. Kaizen is a daily process of making changes and monitoring results, then adjusting as needed.

I am very excited that after only 1 week, I have lost almost 5 lbs...all without really being able to exercise due to an injury. I have become more aware of what is going into my body, however I do better knowing I have to be accountable to not just myself.

That is fantastic! I am hoping to to lose at least another half lb before I hit the 1 week mark on Wed. I know seeing the # on the scale go down really encourages me! I also love the food tracker. I enjoyed seeing the graph that showed me that my calorie intake on weekdays was good and then the weekend's shot up....I am definately going to be more aware/careful of the calorie intake I have this upcoming weekend. I hope you all have a great week!

Hi SparkTeam Members,

So I have been tracking food and water and staying within my limits all week. I wasn't so good at gettting all my fitness in this week, but that is one of my goals this week. I was rewarded with 6 pounds less on the scale. I know my weight loss in the continuing weeks won't be as staggering, but this is definitely making me happy and excited to be starting my journey. Looking forward to continued tracking and meeting more of my goals!

I am loving the nutrition tracker! It really makes me aware of what I am currently eating and how/where I should be making changes.

It's so great to see all my accomplishments in front of me. The #s don't lie!

I have to say I am starting to get pumped! I haven't followed all of my guidelines completely...especially in the calorie area emoticon BUT- I have been meeting all of my "weekly" and "daily" goals that I set and have even started losing some weight emoticon I know it's still early in the game, but I am really starting to get pumped up! Leveling up keeps reminding me that I am making the right choices to lose the weight. How are you all doing this week?
