I put my six month old to bed anywhere from 8pm to 10pm. It depends if he had a couple of good naps throughout the day. If he hasn't had any long naps during the day the earlier the bed time. I also like to have him go to bed around 9- 9:30pm so that he will at least sleep til 4 or 5am instead of waking up around 1 or 2 am.

Our little one (8 weeks) just started sleeping through the night about a week ago, so we are trying to start his nighttime routine around 8pm (bath, feeding, reading, bed) and we usually get him down around 9-9:15pm. It seems to be working and he really calms down after his bath, no matter how riled up he is beforehand.

With baby#1, I put her to bed at like 6pm. That was her witching hour so I just didn't fight it. Later I moved it to 7pm and she would sleep from 7pm-7am.

With baby#2, he's usually in bed between 7:30-8pm. That is mostly because I need some downtime before bed and at 7 months he really doesn't need to be up that late. He's NOT sleeping through the night so I'm not sure what that is all about.

Between 9-10. We are starting a good night time routine. He has not been sleeping well these past few nights because he does not feel so well.

my baby girl is 4months old now and she is in bed by 10pm some times she falls asleep on her own between 9-10 but it works better to go to sleep at 10pm because she will sleep until its time for my husband and i to get up for work. if we put her to bed before that it would mess up our schedule for work and getting ready for work.

My son (9 months old) is down between 7:30 and 8. His last nap ends around 3, so he's fried by this time. We don't all get home til 5:45pm, so we have to cram in dog walk and dinner in this time. Some nights my husband and I don't eat until after he goes to bed. He's up around 6:15 every morning. It's just sort of the pattern that we fell into.

Love,
Hillary

Gideon and Eli's bedtime is between 8:30 and 9, and they get up at 7:30.
I think it's more important that the number of hours they're getting is adequate. This works for everyone's schedule!

I know of a lot of people who put their kids down at 7:30 not us though. My older kids go down at 8 and baby between 8:30-9:00. I think a lot of it is personal preference and natural sleep patterns for each kiddo. I couldn't imagine trying to get done all we need to do and have the kids in bed by 7:30, lol! Also it is important to make sure that baby is getting in enough zzzzzz's. My little guy goes down at 8:30-9 he typically wakes up and nurses at 5:00-5:30 and then sleeps until 7-7:30. Then naps scattered throughout the day.

I'm wondering what time you put your child to bed. My son is 8mo now and for the last few months we have had routine of putting on pajamas at 8, reading a book or two and then bedtime at 8:30. It seems to work fine for us, because that is the time of night when he is obviously sleepy, yawning and rubbing his eyes. But from a lot of the forums and articles and tv shows that I've seen over the past year, it seems like 7:30 is a common bedtime.

Is there a reason for that, or is it just whatever your family's preference is?
