Ok - glad I'm not alone. I just bought size 4 diapers today (Huggies, actually, because I had a coupon). I would never have thought I'd have a baby who was wearing size 4 diapers at 5 months. Sheesh!! I also bought some Oxy stain remover today...we'll see if that helps.

Amy - I always laugh when I see Graham in his back-up outfit at the end of the day. It happens all too frequently. It's even funnier when it's some mis-matched ensemble or something that is too small (clearly from the bottom of the diaper bag).

Love,
Hillary

Ooooh coupons!

We get daily blowouts too. At least 3 outta 5 days a week Jonas is wearing his backup outfit when he comes home from daycare. I didn't know if it was just because breastmilk poo is extra runny. It seems like upsizing for us has helped with up-the-back blowouts, but the bigger sizes make the legs not fit as well so it leaks out there instead. It also seems like his position when he poos makes a difference. He has a bouncy chair that gets poo-ed on 70% of the time he sits in it because it somehow pushes the poo straight towards his legs.

I don't know how to prevent it, I just know that fast action afterwards keeps the stains from setting in.

We cured this problem with my son by going up a size. But before I did that, I sent an angry email to Pampers about how their product didn't fit correctly. I received back a reply suggesting to go up a size, plus $40 worth of coupons for diapers, so it might be worth it to also provide feedback to the diaper manufacturer.

I use cloth, so I can't help with a brand... But, would putting a diaper cover over the diaper help?

Huggies are no good for us usually because I have a wide baby and Huggies are cut really narrow. So all the stuff leaks out the leg holes. Maybe I'll try up another size. He's wearing size 3 which in theory goes up to 26 lbs (he's 20 lbs). I also hate laundry, so this is annoying. More annoying is the poop stained clothes and trying to change a squirmy baby covered in poop.

Love,
Hillary

I've had the best luck with Huggies. I am on amazon mom and I buy them from there. I haven't had much luck with Luvs or Pampers for that very reason.

I do remember, though, that with my oldest son, I had the same issue with poo up the back and it did NOT matter which diaper we used. I completely understand the frustration it is a BIG pain when that happens. I do remember going up a size in diapers and that seemed to help the problem. He was on the border of what size diapers to use so moving him up to the next size seemed to eliminate the problem.

Good luck, my sympathies are with you, lol as someone who despises laundry I am PRAYING that I don't go through that... emoticon

Does anyone else's baby have poopy blowouts up their back on an almost daily basis?? We've tried several brands of diapers and this happens with all of them - it just shoots right on up and out. Several of his shirts/pjs have permanent stains on the back, plus it's a pain to have to change him. Today it was all over his back - what a mess!!

Love,
Hillary
