Smoothies is part of my plan to keep my glucose numbers low. I am able to keep my blood sugar numbers under control with healthy eating and good exercise.

My goal is to learn more about smoothies. Currently I have two a day on weekends and 1 on workdays.

**it mostly has to do with vegetables, both more and a greater diversity of. Currently, spinach and kale are about it for me. I know that they are great vegetables, but still.**

What fruits pair well with other vegetables both taste and nutrition wise. I feel like when I experiment, I always end up with "that" smoothie (the taste suffers).

Tips and recipes are appreciated. I will post recipes, but ANY advice on them is much appreciated.

i have been drinking green smoothies or green juice for a while now. It is a great way to fill up in the morning and know that I have already gotten so many nutrients with so few calories. I do 1 16 oz a day with only fruits veggies and almond milk. Cucumbers and spinach are my favorite veggies. Peaches blueberries, bananas and cherries are my favorite fruits. I like to freeze the fruit, or buy it frozen to get a creamy ice cream consistency. I share them with my six year old. He thinks he's getting a special treat!

This is completely new to me, started about a week ago and crave them. My biggest problem is I have little discipline, so I can't stick to a recipe. I keep adding in this and that, until you can't taste any certain thing. Once you add banana and apple and peaches or oranges, the flavor blurs. I keep swearing I will keep it simple, but I just struggle. Tomorrow I am going to try to only do peaches and banana, My green preference for the base is spinach. I love it. I've been adding a protein source so it is a meal replacement. Soy powder, tofu, or cottage cheese all work.

Hello...

I started making green smoothies only recently - I started working from home a few years ago and much of my time is spent sitting at the computer (8-12 hours a day). I simply can't eat like I used to!

I used to sip on cup o noodles/high sodium soups because they are easy to snack on while working. I have only tried a few recipes so far but I can feel the difference in my energy levels.

Actually when I went to cook my husband his dinner that's when I would reach for chips/cookies - anything because I just didn't feel full.

I imagine the noise from my blender pulsing (vrooom - vrooom) is really saying "GO YOU! GO YOU!" emoticon

Now I've started making my smoothies and even working out while cooking (that's one resolution - the other was to stop walking away and overcooking his food!)

My goals are to lose weight and make healthier foods a part of my new lifestyle. I also have dry skin and acne problems and have read that these may help with that as well.

To help me lose weight and get more veggies in.

Normally I only eat iceberg lettuce , cucumbers, and maybe some tomato. Mixing them into a smoothies helps a lot.

Extra nutrition--for me and my daughters. I find I sneak a lot of high-octane healthy ingredients into a smoothie and have it be much more palatable than those same ingredients sitting on a plate. Especially for my picky four-year-old. :)

I will be the first to admit that I have strayed from my green smoothies, as I was so proud of me getting them in daily for a while. I have been waiting and watching and decided to start adding green smoothies back into my diet and see where it brings me.
I know being away has brought some good time to reevaluate all of what I have been doing and have not been doing. I am truly finding a balance again and want to add them back.

Goal today is to implement one for lunch, as this seems to be the meal I will most benefit from.
I will be making them a bit different then days past, more simple less complex.

I use the green smoothie to help me get my greens in for the day. I always have a huge salad (love them) and I used to always have a large green smoothie. That way, even if I slacked a bit with getting any other greens in during the day, I at least had that. I've gotten away from the green smoothies, think it's time to bring them back.

Thanks for taking on the leadership position for the Green Smoothie team. I would like to hear from a lot of new members with new energy.
I use my morning/noon smoothie to get most of daily nutrition. I've been reducing the fruit and increasing the greens to lower my glucose level. I started adding a couple drops of Stevia to my 32 oz drink when it tastes a little too green for my liking. I've been told Stevia is an acceptable sweetener when needed.

Im curious what you guys are using your green smoothies for! Some reason I know of for green smoothies is added veggies in the diet, lower calorie intake (or meal replacement), healthier skin and hair, and even for added energy!

My person reason is for a lower calorie intake as well as added veggies! I had a bout with cancer that although is an ongoing process, I know that this will help in the long run with energy as well as added nutrients that I know I need.

What about you? I would love to hear stories!!!! :D
