I add a banana to my morning smoothie. I know that most people with Type II avoid the bananas completely.

Sugar hides in everything.
Just when I have my diet under control, I find sugar hiding in another food.

Getting my nutrition without carbs &few sugars is a plus.
I'd rather have the fructose (sugars from fruit) than the sucrose any day!

I agree. Green smoothies are a tool that I use to control Type II Diabetes as well.

Diet is a big factor in controlling blood sugar spikes whether in smoothies or other food. The main issue is what foods increase your blood sugars. If you sweeten your smoothies with sugar or honey, that would rapidly increase your blood sugar. Check your ingredients with a glycemic load index and the lower the nuber the better. Also, balance the macro nutrients to slow the spikes, you need carbs, protein, and fat in a balanced combination. Maybe a 40, 30, 30 (as recommended by the Zone diet). These numbers represent the percentage of calories form the macronutrients. Some studies show an even higher percentage of protein is more beneficial maybe 40% P, 30%C, and 30%F, but there each person is different. Definitely the glycemic load is a good way to determine which foods are best. I think the smoothies would be excellent in controlling your blood sugars.

I love to make green smoothies with the Nutri Bullett. However, I was recently diagnosed wqith Type 21 Diabetes. I am NOT on any insulin or medicine at this early point on the game. But I am not losing many weight either. Can you use the green smoothie regimen if you have Diabetes?
