I have only gone on a cleanse before a colonoscopy. Not sure if I really want to if there are other people in the house.

Thanks Yvonne. I ended up stopping after 5 days. The first three days took will power, but after that, I think I could have very easily gone for 30 days or more from a mental/emotional standpoint. However....seeing all the pulp coming out of the machine just didn't sit right with me - seemed like I was letting a lot of good fiber go. I didn't have trouble with my blood sugar, but I read the article posted and I can see that using too much fruit could cause problems. I was also having a difficult time getting enough calories in by juicing and that concerned me. I suppose if I was Joe Cross and didn't have a real job to go to, I could have managed fresh juicing 6X per day, but not the case here. After 4 days it was mentioned on one of the boards that I could juice the night before and it would keep for 24 hours, but based on the other stuff I decided to go 5 days and then get back on my ETL regime of cold steel cut oats with fruit for breakfast, a large green smoothie for lunch and beans and salad for dinner. I have also decided to juice my liquid (whatever I decide to use) for my smoothie rather than buying prepared.

I will do it again, but I don't think I will ever go more than 5-10 days.

Just catching up on my emails. Wishing you luck and hoping you are still on the fast. If so so you must be feeling the benefits by now. Your morning juice sounds yummy!

I started my juice fast this morning. I decided not to buy the prepared stuff, way too expensive. Pricing was around $199 for 3 days! I went to Whole Foods (which is already expensive IMO but couldn't get to the Farmer's Market in time) and spent $55 for 100% organic fruits and veggies will last me about 5 days based on the recipes I got. I decided to follow Joe Cross' (Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead) 3-day reboot. After watching videos and reading articles, it seems the common theme is that for the first 3 days, you feel crummy, THEN you start feeling good. So as long as my blood sugar numbers are okay, I will go for a 10 day fast. I would actually love to do a 30 or 60 day juice fast, but I'm starting small.

So my first juice this morning was 4 carrots, 2 Granny Smith apples and one peeled and seeded lemon (leave pith on, take rind off.) It is tangy and sour which I love, and I find it delicious!

The rest of the day is more green veggies.

Wish me luck, I really would like to do a min. of 10 days.

Thanks CMILLIER! That was my main concern so great idea, mostly greens. I also found some info on the "reboot with Joe" site - there is a page with information for diabetics. I may skip the prepared stuff and make my own after all.

Thanks for the tips!

If you are diabetic or concerned with the sugar content of fresh juiced drinks, you can use your juicer and juice mainly greens such as celery, cucumber, spinach, kale, and parsley. Then juice an apple or carrot and add the juice to your green juices to make it tastier. My husband is diabetic and did a juice fast this way and it worked well for him emoticon

Thanks Yvonne. I think maybe this first time, I'm going to try to find a prepared version which is recommended for diabetics. Maybe after that I'll have enough confidence to do my own, if I decide to do another.

I've had a difficult time getting back on track and am considering a juice cleanse to get me going in the right direction. Have any of you done one? Specifically, does anyone have an experience relating to type 2 diabetes? Any thoughts on how long this should be done? Any advice on buying prepared juices (extremely expensive) versus making your own - I do have a juicer. Any recipes?
Thanks!
