Great idea PinkHairedMom :)

I would also recommend acupressure. There are a lot of different techniques out there that are easy to do to yourself with acupressure. Just Google search and there are a lot of links to look at.

I also recommend acupuncture for migraines. It's great for pain and nausea with the actual onset, but it's also great on a therapeutic basis for prevention.

My DS22 has always had migraines. Usually associated with body heat/hydratrion issues. We use bananas and water and now coconut water to help with that. But, for awhile he had gauged ears (big holes! yuck!) and his migraines disappeared. His chiropractor/kineasiologist said that his large holes had pushed that correct pressure point. Well, we weren't sure. But in the last few months he has let his ears start going back to normal and guess what? His migraines have reappeared. We don't call his chiropractor the Witch Dr. for nothing. With tons of affection. He has worked miracles on my one son.

Hope your friend finds her trigger food/point.

I would recommend she write down all the foods she eats because I get migraines from certain foods. I started to list what I ate and then when I got a migraine I would look back to see if there was a pattern to what I ate. Most of them were foods that I have cut out by now:
chocolate, cheese, wine are biggies for me.

I am hoping for more than 30 days as well. We will have to see.

She is a more than a willing participant in her own health so I am looking forward to serious commitments and good results.

Thanks for the help and the safety precautions.

MF, it is my primary concern that people not only get healthy but do it safely. Now that you included DETAILS I know she's in good hands. It's all in the details sir, LOL. And, I'm certain you'll be there to hand hold her during her problem times.

How long is she going to do one? I hope longer than 30 days if she is suffering from Migraines. Chances are they will get worse during the initial phase.

Don't you worry your raw organic self there Karen. I have been in contact with this lady for a little while now. She noticed how the juice fast had affected me and she wanted to learn more.

She has been mostly plant based, no processed food, and very little meat, for about 60 days or so now. She has slowly started green smoothies and juicing about a week ago and is growing accustomed to the taste....slowly. She has noticed a great improvement, but would like to increase on that as well.

She has never been fond of her doctors and their prescriptions. Her live in daughter is a registered nurse and will be there for her during the process.

Great link, Yvonne. I bookmarked it. DS you are correct. Even smells of certain foods can set off migraines for some people

MF: Did you mean to say that she is doing a juice feast right off the bat? How long?
I would not recommend her going straight off into juicing. She needs to clean up her diet and detox slowly first. If not she's going to be very sick. She's already displaying signs of a compromised system.

I have already recommended everything you have said to her and she is going to comply. She even took time off work to start strictly juicing next week and getting it started as of today with preparation.

I was looking for something more wholisitic and in detail about migraines.

There is plenty of information about them, but it is pretty scattered, because I have looked for several hours now.

She's on board with cleaning up her eating, so I guess we will start there and move on.

Any more advice is appreciated though, so please keep it coming.

Edited to say:
I found a pamphlet from the Gerson Institute about migraines. It says that some of his initial therapy had to do with them.

My wife is ordering the material now.

Thanks, and keep the advice coming please.

I would recommend her watching fat sick and nearly dead. A couple if factors are involved ib migraines all related to toxicity. She needs to reduce sodium stop processed foods.

I am seeking help for a friend of my wife's who has been suffering from migraines.

I know that there are alternative treatments. The doctors she has seen have only mentioned medicine...... not once have they brought up nutrition.... surprise, surprise.

I have looked up several different topics, but none seem to be saying the same thing.

Any help to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I always recieve such good information on this team, I figured I would ask.
