It should be located on your Spark Page under MORE to the far right. Click and you should see
Favorites. Click on that and your cookbook should be at the bottom.

If that doesn't work go to Healthy Lifestyle and click on Spark Recipes. Then go to the far right and click on My Recipes. Click on My Recipe Collection.

Can someone please tell me how to get to the "cookbooks" we create? I saved some of Travelnista's smoothie recipes into one and now I can't locate it. Argh! BTW, thanks for all the recipes. I like the one I make, but it gets old after a while and I can only handle berries once or twice a week because of the seeds. I'm beginning to think that I need to juice the berries and then use that for a smoothie base. I don't need any flares.

I know that for me I only use ripe fruit and I am a Type 2 Diabetic. I have 3 to 4 pieces of ripe fruit daily sometimes even 2 bananas. Since I am following a 100% Raw Diet up to 4 pieces of ripe bananas, mango, figs, or pineapple do not spike my sugar. I do not consume more because I am very much against a Fruitarian diet.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I did a little research on green vs very ripe bananas and found that yes, they do contain more resistant starch as Karen and Yvonne stated, but that is actually better for controlling blood sugar as it has less effect on glucose levels. Green bananas are actually very good for health and some studies indicate, better than yellow. Irritable bowel diseases and cancers are lower in places where people consume more green than yellow bananas.

Keep in mind, I am not stating you should eat green bananas (I think they are harder to digest, however some of that is taken care of in the blending process) I am only talking about slightly green versus ripe. I personally cannot stand a really ripe banana - way too sweet for me, and really don't like the mushy texture either. My smoothies don't get thick like a shake, but thick like sludge when the bananas are too ripe, and I really don't like that either.

It is definitely a case of personal preference, but please don't tell people not to eat slightly green bananas, there are some benefits to doing so.

Karen posted this on our Raw Foodies Team. Can't think of a better place to add this link than a discussion on protein.

It is true. The average person eating the SAD gets more than enough protein, often in one meal. Too much protein is not good for your body. It caused me to get preeclampsia during my first pregnancy. I ate a ton of cheese and fake meat products because I beleived I needed more protein. Plants have sufficient protein.

IMREITE: Why would you want to increase protein amounts? There's plenty of protein in plants already. We only need 2 1/2 to 5% of our total daily calories from protein. That amount is already in plants and in a way our body can utilize. Don't believe the meat and dairy pushers about protein! That's how they sell their disease-causing products.

Karen is correct. Bananas are pure starch when green and the more brown spots they have as they ripen the sweeter they get and is easier for your body to break down.

CHARMCITYMOM10 - this is a matter of personal preference, but I would say go ahead and try a banana which is not completely ripe. For me personally, when they are ripe, I think it makes my smoothie too "sludgy" and I don't care for that consistency. I buy green bananas intentionally now. ;-)

Thanks everyone. You have given me good ideas and recipes to try. Today I had my first green smoothie. I had strawberries, blueberries, a little almond milk, and 10 pieces of baby spinach. I couldn't even taste the spinach so I am going to put more in tomorrow. Hopefully the bananas will ripen a little so I can add them. All the organic bananas were green and I didn't have any in my freezer.

The one I started out on and is still my favorite, although I have changed the ratio of fruits to greens, is Dr. Fuhrman's Eat Your Greens Fruit Smoothie:

Dr. Fuhrman's Eat Your Greens Fruit Smoothie

5 oz baby spinach
1 banana
1 cup frozen unsweetened blueberries
1/2 cup unsweetened almond, soy, or hemp milk
1/2 cup unsweetened pomegranate or other unsweetened juice
1 TBS ground flax seeds ( I prefer ground chia seeds, so I do use those quite often in place of the flax)

I've given this to a lot of friends and family who had never had a green smoothie, and now most of them are die hard green smoothie fans. It's a great one to start out with!

No need to have a goal of all greens. Your smoothies can always taste like a fruit smoothie. You are not alone in not liking the taste of greens. As long as you are getting greens in your smoothies, you'll find you're getting a huge amount of greens by the end of the week. You'll feel so good!

Thanks for the advice. I am excited to start green smoothies. I actually like spinach, so that might not be too bad to start off with.

Actually this is the way most start out. Our tastebuds and senses have been so altered by cooked and processed and toxic phood that we can't even enjoy natural food.

Here's what I did: Day 1 start with a fruit smoothie with bananas and dates, add a couple of leaves of baby spinach which is nutritious and mild. You won't even notice it is green.
Day 2, add a bit more baby spinach and so on for 7 days straight. As soon as you start getting more use to greens your body will naturally not want it so sweet. It's very automatic.

The next week try a beautiful rainbow chard leaf and only use 1/2 or 1/3rd. Again, using fruit as a base.

Rotate your greens and make certain as you get accustomed to green smoothies, that you use a variety of greens.

Also, make certain you use organic produce. Yes, it costs more but commercial produce is filled with toxicity and we want to get healthy, not sick. The nutrition of organic is several times higher and so is the taste. Also, you eat a lot less. My food bill has stayed the same converting to raw organic vegan.

Always use a banana as your base and it masks the taste of the greens. Use mild greens like spinach till you are ready to go to the next step. Mangos or pineapple will also mask the taste.
Check out my Raw Cookbook as I have lots of Green Smoothie recipes in there:

Try Slurp for Sore Eyes, I think you will like it. The Spicy Cinnamon Smoothie tastes like a milkshake to me, just use 1 cup of spinach to start yourself out on.

Are there any recipes you would suggest for someone who does not like her greens? My plan is to start out with green smoothies that don't taste so green and then slowly making them more green as I develop a taste for them.
