I am sure there must be more restaurants around than I am aware of right now. Ann Arbor and Royal Oak are both quite crunchy communities - so if nothing else, at least in thoses areas. Although I started learning about clean eating last spring and did start integrating into my diet, I didn't really get serious until a couple of months ago. So that's why I say one of my goals is to do a little research and find more clean places - I have just not paid attention up until now.

Those all sound like great goals to me Leeney! LOL LOL emoticon I hope you get the ying out of your yang, or is it your yang out of your ying?

I truly believe that a plant-based ORGANIC and RAW as much as you can do is the best medicine on the planet. I feel that my carbon footprint is as light as a feather. I know it is a commitment and I'm willing to make the effort.

This morning I said hi to my little compost bucket and it got some wonderful remains put into it today. I'm putting together the big composters this afternoon and can hardly wait to get my first worms. BTW: You have to get both males and females right? How do you tell the difference???? Just joking!

Sorry to hear that. We have quite a vibrant raw community here. I'm west of Cleveland, so we're practically neighbors. There are many eateries to choose from and lots of raw food potlucks going on. I'm meeting all kinds of interesting people.

IMLEENEY - Right after I postsed that I heard that GreenGos might be go, go going. Very sad, great little restarant with a good variety of vegan and raw food offerings.

The BRAT is back! Here's the deal. I'm having issues with the whole concept of goal setting. Don't ask me where that came from, but I even started a thread on my yoga lovers team to discuss it. I think it has to do with a yin/yang issue for me. emoticon

In any case, where I stand is that I will continue to eat raw, although I'm not opting for 100%, and continue to drink me green smoothies and eat more veggies than anything else in my diet. I like the way I feel when I eat this way. I have always been a creative and experimental cook...just ask my family!...and I will continue in that. I love learning and trying new things especially those things that contribute to health, happiness and sanity of the individual as well as the planet...and beyond. I'm a big advocate of cradle to grave education. I will also continue to give back to my community, local and cyber, in whatever way I can.

And, I will have fun doing all those things!
Did I mention 'bug Karen'? emoticon

I am currently working on my goals for the year overall. 2011 has been a successful year and I have high hopes for 2012.

1. to drink a quart of green smoothies a day. I'll start there and see where it goes

2. I also want to try a new raw recipe a week. I have a TON of recipes that I want to try. Trying 1-2 new ones a week has been my goal for a while now but it hasn't happened consistently.

3. eliminate refined sugar. This has been a goal for a long time. When I eat raw it is not a problem at all. When I slip back into old eating habits the sugar binges start. The holidays have been a tough time. I need to really get back to basics and focus on this goal.

Karen, I love the idea of trying a new raw food recipe weekly. I have tried to do that (not limited to raw though, this started with Dr. Fuhrman's ETL program) and I would like to take my current efforts in a raw direction.

My second goal is to get more greens in consistently. I am eating greens daily, but I don't think I am eating enough.

Third - is to find more Vegan friendly, raw type restaurants around. I travel through the Detroit Metro area for work (rarely actually in Detroit though) and have to eat out frequently. Even salads are not easy (they get boring and usually have so much added junk that by the time you get through with the "hold the __________" list you have nothing but boring lettuce left. I've also found that most of the lunch type places I go to murder steamed veggies. There is a place in Grosse Pointe Park called GreenGos which I love. Would love to find more places like that.

Since I've already converted to a raw organic eating program and am doing great, I would like to branch out it the recipe area of the raw food kingdom.

1) Make a new raw food dish weekly and post the recipe and my opinion/experience.
2)Continue my raw food/green smoothie research.
3)Continue to support others in this healthiest of living food consumption.
