Hello Team! I should be sleeping. My granddaughters are a joy! They are growing up---RATS!

I remember the last 2 years in my career--I worked 4 ten hour days. I started at 6:30 am--put in my time & adored my long weekends.

Hugs to all!

chicken pesto:
12 oz chicken breast cut up sauteed in 2 T coconut oil
6 oz green pesto mezzetti
2 cups heavy whipping cream
4 oz of sliced black olives
6 oz of meditaranian feta cheese crumbles
1 teaspoon minced garlic
12 oz of brocolli cole slaw with carrots and cabbage too.
salt and pepper

after sauteeing the chicken in coconut oil add the brocolli and wilt them about 3 minutes.
mix the pesto and cream in a bowl add the garlic.
place the chicken in a baking dish together with the olives, feta. add the pesto mix and bake for 30 minutes at 400degrees.

it was delicious!
It was expensive to make about $22. But it made 4 servings.

We had a meeting with our Managing Director on Thursday and he actually brought up the possibility of bringing some flexible scheduling into the mix, like working 4 ten hour days or 4 nines and 1 half day. It got my vote for sure! Tens are grueling, but, to be honest, I get more quality work done late in the day when the phones and the emails and the face to face interruptions slow way down.

I'm with BACON I realize I do better in winter if I move more. Sun is out today so I'll get out for a 1 mile walk soon. DS had first reconciliation this morning and it now finished a LC snack. 20 oz of water down.
I need to talk to my boss this weekend as he is retiring and we are trying to make a plan about my role in the office and we can't seem to get it done during the week. It will require me working 40 hrs a week instead of 35 hrs and frankly I've been spoiled with having those extra 5 hrs a week. Lots of life changes st the moment.

MAW, I called my cousin and she said there was nothing anyone could do to help this family until the 90-day or three-month ban was lifted. Such a sad situation. My heart goes out to them but that does not help! That family is blessed to have an Earth Angel like you to help them.

got to rename it now.....not stay at home.....but MOVE or LOSE it saturday :) :)

I realize I need to move more thru winter. I despise winter. I am a 90 deg day gal with water and swim :)

but I realized I 'hibernate' like critters in winter. SO I resigned myself to moving or lose it (yes I am getting older and need to move vs. stagnate)

today is big walk withe kiddo and doggie. I won't go down that rabbit hole of 'not doing for me' cause in the end, the more I do for me, the more I can give to others :) :)

ugh ranting along but is what I think LOL

MAW, is there a local group or church that could help that family? There must be some way or some how or some one to bring them together.

Thank you, Leone and Woubbie.

I was thinking about this family this morning. There are eight kids in the family. Seven of them are here in Idaho (one is in Boise, the rest here in Twin Falls). The parents are here. The only surviving grandparent is here. On the husband's side, his mother and sister and two brothers are here. Father's dead. Don't know about other family. So basically, the whole family is here. Except the one daughter and her husband and baby.

I was a CPA for 25 years, doing mostly taxes. There was usually a provision in tax law that grandfathered in decisions that had been made based on old law. For example, if you had contracted for a big piece of equipment and it hadn't arrived when the law changed, you could use the tax benefits of the old law. Seems like something like that should be available here, too.

I agree with Woubbie. How we feel about social and political issues is part of who we are and is fair game. Talk about it if you like, whatever your views. But let's not argue. And it's the ISSUES that are important at this point, not the people. This was such a divisive election, and feelings still run very deep and strong about the people involved. Let's leave them off the table, OK? (joining Woubbie in getting off my soapbox)

I wrenched my back a bit a few days ago, shoveling a measly half inch or so of snow. By last night it was feeling pretty good, but I slept wrong. Today for the first time it's been going into spasms. Ugh. Another day of lots of tylenol and ibuprofin. But this too shall pass. I wish the Y here had a hot tub, but it doesn't.

And, hey, before this turns into a political discussion - which we have no business doing on this particular team - let me make a couple of things clear:

It's no big deal to reveal your political affiliation and your concerns here, it's part of who you are.

It's no big deal to discuss how political decisions are affecting your life or your family and friends. Again, it's part of what's happening to you.

However, I don't think it's appropriate to get into largescale debates over political topics in this particular forum. We're about low carb lifestyles, not politics. Pie fights and mud-slinging are not going to happen here.

Part of MY political belief system says that diversity is a GOOD thing, so whether you support a Muslim ban or abhor it you're still welcome here. Just play nice and be kind.

*steps off the soapbox*

Probably not staying at home all day, which bums me out on a Saturday. Gotta make an ALDI run at some point. Have a couple of projects to take care of at home.

Maw, if there's anything specific you know of that can be done to help, at least in this particular case, let us know. Like Leone, I'm contacting representatives daily about various issues. This particular order is just cruel.

I have some good personal news at least. Kyle had a job interview yesterday (just an entry level position, of course) and he's to go back today for orientation. Send good thoughts, folks, you know how squirrelly the kid can be, lol!

Probably, for me. I spent yesterday puttering around running errands. ESL in the morning, followed by picking up a bunch of chicken necks I'd ordered for Russell (have to divvy them up today and get them in the freezer) and Walmart to pick up an Rx. Then the vet in the afternoon (Russell is in great shape, the raw meat diet seems to agree with him), followed by Mom's house to play Rummikub and then took her to get her hair shampooed while I went to the library. Then a quiet evening at home. A nice puttery day. Which is fine occasionally, but I'd go nuts if I did that all the time!

Nothing planned for today except getting Russell's chicken necks ready for the freezer, and I might go to Marwah's this afternoon for a visit.

You've heard me talk about Bakomeza (the high school girl who cleans for me) and her parents Ndenjehu (the deaf man I teach ESL to) and his wife Mariam. They're refugees from Congo. The oldest girl in the family and her husband and baby were supposed to come over on the 18th, but the baby got sick so they had to wait. The latest word I heard is that the baby is well and they were coming on the 30th. They've sold everything they had in Uganda (where they were refugees) to get things to bring to the states. Now Trump has put a moratorium on refugees coming to the US for at least a couple of months. I don't know what the family will do in the meantime. They were told they would be coming here and now they're told they're not, at least not for months. Please keep them and other refugees in a similar situation in your thoughts and prayers. They've given up everything - their homes and jobs and almost everything they own - for a promise to come here, and now that promise is being broken. Letters, emails and calls to your elected representatives would be appreciated, too.
