Vet visit went well. Senior dog, Carolina, her heart still sounds the same....but the heart meds are keeping her lungs clear.

DD's dog got her nails clipped and antibiotics for her eyes. We'll get meds for her glaucoma next week after vet consults with a specialist. Purebred dogs and their inbred health issues!!!

Senior cat, Hallie, got her yearly shots except for rabies, as the state we came from did the 3 year and she was on year 1. Current state only does yearly. Go figure! She had her nails clipped, too.

Dropped off some things at the local thrift shop that supports the animal protection society here. Did a few more errands and then home again and put a whole chicken in the crock pot to roast. Turned out great, although I only nibbled a wing to see how it was. I've never roasted one like this, where you crumple up aluminum foil in the bottom of the crockpot to raise the chicken up so it roasts and doesn't sit in the juices. Easy and good. Will have some for dinner after I get home from aqua yoga this evening.

So I putzed around the house a bit, then took Warbie to the shelter. Talked to one of the staff (Virgil was in a meeting) about what I needed to do to get my house set up for Chewy. Went to the recycling center (right next door to the shelter and cleared out the whole back of my car (Ford Escort wagon). Went to church to drop off stuff for missions but couldn't figure out how to get into the church. They're recarpeting and redoing the entrance and after driving a couple of times around the building (there are five entrances that I know of, and probably more) and going in the out and out the in I finally gave up. Took a box of books and some Paul Harris medallions to the library (the director is on the board of one of the local Rotary clubs and I'm hoping they can reuse the medallions. I don't want them and don't want to just take them to Goodwill.). Took a bag of potatoes and a bunch of bags and egg cartons to the food bank, and while I was there it occurred to me that maybe they could use the office stuff in two of the boxes that I had planned to give to missions. They were thrilled - manilla folders, hanging folders, stationary, don't know what all. That left just one box that was to go to missions and everything else is out of my car! Oh, except for the old pills that I dropped at the recycling center later. Went to Kroger and got some hot dogs, cheese and peanut butter for Chewy (and some veggies for me), then came home and cleaned up the house for Chewy. Cleaned up the bathroom/cat room/dog room really well, put away everything that he could get into, etc. Ate lunch and hobbled back to the shelter.

I walked into the shelter and the first words out of anyone's mouth were "Guess who's going home today!" Someone had just adopted Chewy. I don't know how, since I don't think she was officially considered "ready" for adoption, but someone was there picking her up. So no Chewy. I told them I was going to sulk and pout but that didn't sway them. The lady she went home with seemed very nice.

So I talked to Virgil about other options. There was an older Chihuahua that he thought I might be interested in, but I decided that I didn't particularly want a dog, I wanted Chewy! So we talked about cats. Like 8 of them. Yes, that's right - EIGHT of them! Well, one cat (Twilight) and seven one-week-old kittens. They need a home for another eight weeks or so, but I asked about keeping them for just three weeks or so and then taking them back. I have a sort of unofficial rule that I don't want to keep anyone very long so I don't get too attached. And he said that until they're about four weeks old they won't be able to get out of the bathtub, which will allow Twilight to get in and out and will keep them corralled. He agreed, and a volunteer who happened to be there at the time said she wanted them after I had them. She has a sinus infection and can't have them at the moment. For some reason she can't have them until after November 8, so I'll probably keep them that long.

I miss Chewy. :(

Cooking a big bunch of cookie dough that I found buried in the freezer. Totally not low carb but my family are carbies so they will eat them without a problem. Today IS a splurge day for me, though. Wednesdays always are because it is the day we spend with my DBIL. I try not to go above 75g NC, though. We did try a new pizza place yesterday... the pizza was AWFUL. At least, the sauce was. It is a homemade sweet sauce that so many people are raving over... I don't like sweet. I like spicy. I gave the rest of the $18 pizza to my dad and he inhaled in. I also tried fried mushrooms for the first time... I barely manage to get the first one down. AWFUL tasting!

Thinking about going to get burgers. I don't feel like cooking. Major headache and light headed. Hoping it goes away with the Aleve I just took. We shall see.

Hope everyone has a great day!

After my dad died in 1984, my mother bought a plot (I paid for it) in my name so I would be right next to them. Mom sent me the receipt, but in one of my many moves since then, I lost the receipt and all the details.....

I spent several hours this morning trying to track down the cemetery so I can add that information to my Estate Planning....

I ended up "contacting" someone totally different (and wrong), but eventually with the help of my Sister I now have the correct name of the cemetery, and the business office address and phone number. As Sis will be handling all the details (if she outlives me) I am copying her on all the communications. If I outlive her, then her kids will have all the information they will need......

Now I just have to wait for them to reply....

hi everybody, it's been awhile. i have a coffee cup that says "time flies...whether you're having fun or not"
time has flown. just ordinary, not outrageously fun, but, generally good. so, it's fall now and i think i have to make some new plans. am stuck at this weight for months and now crept up a pound or two. i feel so far away yet so close to my goal....34 pds minimum and i would be happy to rest there. i'd like another 20 or 30 pds after that maybe, but, i am not going to worry about that until i reach first goal.
so, i hope to come by and visit more often again. nice to see so much of the same gang and some new faces. such a nice supportive team. emoticon

Hey everyone :)

I took a little break from checking in but I more or less stayed LC for the summer and now the fall. I had blips for my birthday in July **40!!!omg** and then last week for our wedding anniversary. I don't actually mind the blips as they seem to keep me sane about eating the rest of the time. No more blips though until Christmas, and since I am probably working - shouldn't be a bad blip. Can I say blip a few more times? emoticon I haven't lost a pound since the end of May - but I haven't gained any either. woot?

Maw - still in England so I add one to the European list. emoticon

Husband and dog are both fine. I really want a second dog but trying to wait a bit longer. Also we can't agree on what type of dog - I want a pug or something similar. Hubby wants a Golden retriever. I will of course win :) Or we can get two new dogs!

Sad to see that Russell vanished. Anyone ever hear from him?

Good grief, why list carby crap as "carb-controlled" snacks?! That kind of stuff just tips me over. Myopic, stoopid, and a typical lack of critical thinking. I didn't even want the Spark points! LOL

Maw, I wish I lived closer! I hound you to adopt Chewy so I could babysit when you wanted to travel. I still have a big basket of Whiskey's toys that I can't part with yet. Chaser wasn't interested in toys at all, but Whiskey loved them. I would share them with Chewy if she wanted them... :)

Working on the huge piles of crud on my desk... Client after work. Nothing exciting!

Good Morning Team! I saw a couple Newbies: WELCOME! This is a GREAT thread.

Maw, I like planning my day on this Thread. It gets my head straight and my aura warmed.

I rebroke my little toe last night. Sometimes my brain doesn't problem solve. It was feeling better . . . I wore a bigger shoe to sub a class last night. I did one pivot and I felt the toe go. Dummy! So, starting all over again. My hiking vacation starts Sunday. Any suggestions????

The info for little toes broken is tape & patience. Guess which one I do NOT own???
I have flat board boots . . I'll use them again to teach @ 11:30. Learn Grasshopper Learn!
Have I said I'm a slow learner????

Still working on learning how to change my Wireless Router password. So many challenges since I allowed neighbors to use my password. When will I learn? Ok . . moving forward.

I've gained weight. I guess I'll cut back on the heavy cream??? or maybe my wine??? or maybe it's because my toe is broken and I can't jump, run, twist???

Find something that makes you giggle today. No matter what's a challenge for me today . . .I still have the opportunity to live and make the best of today! YIPPPEEE! I'm a very lucky Woman !

Hugs to Surround Us All as a Group! Connie, in WI
The pleasant thought for me today is LUCKY.

Happy Wednesday!

On a little smoother rail today. Kyle is two babysteps closer to his Eagle rank. Tonight we're going to sit down and polish off the last of this merit badge requirements, and then he just needs to meet up with a couple of counselors to have his blue card signed off. He still has at least one big work day to get through, and he has to start tying the Eagle project to the Senior Project, but the dominos are finally starting to fall into a pattern! Woohoo!

I'd better get back to the salt mine, though. It's still taking almost every bit of my focus to stay on top of my task list!

Good morning, everyone except Debb. And good afternoon to you! Do we have any other Europeans posting these days? Whatever happened to Sweettisha? And the others?

I take Warbie back to the shelter today. He's ready to be adopted, unless he needs to be neutered first. He has learned how to play. He's about three months old but has spent most of it in cages at the shelter because he's been sick. Not much opportunity for playing when you're by yourself in a cage. Yesterday he discovered toes. Mine. He started pouncing on my toes whenever I moved them under the blanket in the chair last night, and when I moved them under the blankets on my bed this morning. One of his favorite places to perch is on my shoulder, pressing his side up against my ear and purring. It tickles but it's nice. Much nicer than when he puts his head next to my ear and his whiskers tickle!

I'll probably be getting Chewy this afternoon. I'll talk to Virgil about it when I take Warbie in. I need to find out what would be involved. Is he house broken, things like that. I hope I get to bring him home with me! Though he's one that it will be hard to say goodbye to. I must go into it knowing that it's only temporary. I must go into it knowing it's only temporary. I must go into it...

Other than that, I need to take some stuff to the church for the Mountain Mission pickup. I've been clearing out my front room/office which has been the respository for boxes and bags and all sorts of stuff and junk. I've got two boxes of books that I was going to take to the library for their book sale, but the mission folks said they want the books. Also two boxes full of spiral notebooks, resume type paper, file folders, notebook paper, and all sorts of office type stuff. I've got lots more, too, but I'll take this down today. I already took 5 boxes of stuff over on Saturday. And the back of my car is full of recycling. And there's lots more to get rid of. But it's a start.

I also need to go to the library to return a couple of books and pick up one that's on hold, and to the food pantry to drop of some stuff I forgot to drop of yesterday.

So, let's see. I might as well plan here as just in my head! Take Warbie to the shelter this morning and talk to Virgil, then to the church and then to the library. Home for lunch and get the house set up for Chewy, then to to the shelter to make doggy treat/trick/toys and pick up Chewy. And then spend the rest of the day loving Chewy and, I hope, taking her out as needed instead of cleaning up after her inside!

Yak yak yak yak yak! Ok, I'm done now. But I'll probably be back after I get Chewy to tell you all about her!

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Good Morning, Marcia (and everyone else)!

After 1 pm here, and eating some chicken. Hope my tummy will accept it. Has been upset since last Friday! Spoke with doc yesterday and he wants a sample. At least I am not sick to my stomach - I really hate that.

Monday and Tuesday this week were really hectic, but today is a bit calmer. PHEWW now I can catch up a little!

Have eaten so little and actually felt hungry a short while ago; hence the chicken. I should have lost a lot this week, huh? Nope. "Just" a pound.

Wonderful Wednesday to All!

Good morning! I wanted to sleep a bit longer but am taking three of the pets to the vet at 9. Senior dog is going for a check up on how she is doing on her heart meds, DD's dog is getting her bordatella and having her nails clipped, and my senior cat is getting her yearly shots. And since I had to feed the crew and get myself fed and showered and still have time for a leisurely cup of coffee I had to get up earlier than I wanted!

So the cats and dogs are fed, dogs have been outside. I'm sipping an Atkins shake for breakfast. Coffee is ready to be brewed and I'm checking in with Spark.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!
