I do not like swimming, especially in the ocean. I hate how the sand sticks to me when I get out. The only time I go in the ocean is with my kids when they are little.
Tons of rain and wind here today. I managed to grill my burgers between storms though!

I have had the strangest experience! I didn't think it was possible for a person to forget how to swim, but after not swimming for about 10 years, I went to a lake last month and attempted to swim, but kept sinking! What a horrible experience!
I plan to call the Y on Monday morning to ask about adult swim classes. I was truly shaken.

I definitely feel like my best days are when I pretty much only eat meat and vegetables. I still usually add in non-milk dairy and nuts (and ocassional sweet things), but that is definitely not ideal.

I went swimming in the ocean for real today. I probably only did about 1/8th mile, but it was interesting. I followed it up with a 2 1/2 mile beach run. Only two weeks until the triathlon (1/4 mile ocean swim, 10 mile bike ride and 3 mile beach run). I can swim in a pool farther than that. The bike ride will be a breeze. The run will be a challenge but I am hoping excitement will get me through. I am starting to think I can do it! I just have to survive that cold swim and the rest will be ok.

Happy Saturday! I'm just hoping to stay home and not get pressed into taxi service (when IS that kid going to get his permit?!?!?!). That just eats up the day and nothing seems to get done.

I'm going to try working on more structured menus and cooking. I've fallen into the bad habit of letting my DH take the lead on food prep, but he's rather erratic at it. Will have a flurry of activity and then will skate for several days. One result is that there are NEVER prepared veggies in the house. Really. Never. *sigh* It's the weakest link in my diet, as the cafeteria at work rarely has edible veggies either, other than the salad bar, and eating cold food every day gets pretty old pretty quick.

So, much as I despise cooking it looks like that's what's on my weekend agenda for the foreseeable future. Pah.

Had jury duty yesterday and kinda sorta got picked. They needed a total of 22 jurors and only managed to interview 19 by the end of the day, so they'll have to pick the remaining 3 on Monday. Then they winnow the selections by discarding 8 of the 22 to end up with 12 jurors plus 2 alts. I don't have to go back on Monday, but I have to wait until Monday afternoon to hear back whether I'm one of the 8 discards or not. Cross your fingers, this trial is expected to last at least 5 days and sounds icky.

Have a great day, all!

Good morning! It's another beautiful, sunny day here in Western Washington - we're working on setting a record for consecutive days without rain... My lawn looks like the record has already been broken!

This is my day off this week - I am actually skipping the dog walk and will take both boys to go visit my mom later this morning. I need to do a few chores today (the endless laundry), but I also really need to make an effort to sit down and relax and do Day Off stuff. Tomorrow I go to a new client's office to work on some clean up stuff (easier to do when her office is closed), so today is important to my mental health!!

I have leftover chicken salad (someone on this team gave us the recipe for Grandma's Hot Chicken Salad and I love it!) and a couple of baked chicken thighs leftover, but I'm really craving cheeseburgers...

VLC means very low carb,

Lots of people in this group keep there carbs under 20g a day a few only eat meat no veggies I did that for two months but got bored of only eating meat so had to add veggies back, I know follow more of a south beach diet my carbs will be around 100, and my fat level stays under 60g

Morning all! Just so I can "get it" , vlc means more veggies, less meat for weight loss? I'd thought about crab cakes for lunch, cheeseburgers for supper(w/o the bun, of course) & bacon & eggs for breakfast. Would that be good? Or should there be more veggies in there somewhere?

I need to clean, clean, clean today. Scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast. I've got some turkey burger for lunch and bought some pork chops to put on the grill tonight. Also going to make some creamed cauliflower with cream cheese for dinner.

Hello all we have the grand kids from ok here this weekend! They will all beijing to Abilene Texas til my son in law finds a job as an welder inspector! So we are full today! I don't count my carbs at all usually I hv just eggs and bacon for breakfast then some meat and maybe a salad for lunch then meat and veggies for dinner if I snack I hv cheese or meat or pork rinds, maybe this is why I don't lose a lot just very slowly! But I feel great!

I agree with that, Suzanne. I am grain-free (have been for quite some time). I'm getting my carbs from veggies, cheese, eggs, heavy cream and a small amount of high-fat nuts (coconut, pecans, walnuts). But most of my calories come from meat and fat.

A full day today, though not particular busy. Will go to the Farmers Market as soon as I get off here and finish my breakfast (eggs scrambled with zucchini and daikon hash browns). I want to get a big box or maybe two of canning tomatoes to freeze. Then work at the library all day. And then come home and freeze the tomatoes. Should keep me going all day.

I have found that vlc doesn't really work for me. I have done meat and egg fasts before, sometimes for a couple of weeks, and usually don't lose anything. Until I quit the fast and go back to eating at least around 20 carbs, though I seem to do best at about 40 net carbs per day. Who know, maybe I'd do even better at higher levels, but I haven't had the guts to try that! My carbs have been mostly in the 35-40 range for the past couple of weeks (except for the 4 days I was on vacation and managed to eat almost 3 pounds of almonds, plus the regular food!) and have lost 6 pounds in 17 days. That's actually more carbs than I usually eat, but it lots of tomatoes and peppers and zucchini and eggplant and fresh green beans and things like that.

I think vlc also depends on where you get your carbs. If you have eggs and cheese for ten carbs, I still think it is vlc. But, if you have grains and stay below ten carbs, that is different.
We have a busy day. I think I will skip the hockey practice this morning, as drew also has two soccer games today. Instead, I will feed James and see if I can take a walk, but it looks like rain.
Food today will be cheeseburgers.

From what I've read, 20g or less is VLC (some people say 30g or less). I hover around 15g.

hi Crystal -- have fun this afternoon! :)

I like the VLC too (is under 20g considered VLC then? I usually have 10 or under, but do allow myself 20) -- induction just feels right.

My issue is the emotional eating, but on this, at least, I am not PHYSICALLY hungry!

Well, gotta get back to packing -- this is the busiest/highest order Saturday I can remember!

Morning Debb emoticon

I've got a coffee date with a new friend this afternoon. I'll probably take a little walk too.
I'm still enjoying my choice to go VLC permanently. We'll see what the scale says on weigh-in day (Monday). But besides weight loss, I just feel better.

Good Morning, Everyone! ( 8 am here)

Wanted to sleep in a little, but couldn't -- I know I have ebay and other orders to pack, so just as well.

Will take the dogs for a walk after I drop of the post, around 11. Not much else planned for today: catch up on paperwork, get another motorcycle ride in, as the weather is going to be nice (again, YAY!), and be sure to get the dogs out at least twice today, maybe even three.

Hubby and I are aiming to get out for a pub lunch -- they have a lovely fresh salmon salad, so we frequent this particular pub pretty often (not interested in others anyway).

Dinner will be chicken chunks I have defrosted, sauteed with some veg and in shirataki noodles,

Have a fabulous Saturday, All!
