Yesterday my eating was really good - I did my exercises and walked the dogs. However, my anxiety is way up and that might have slowed down the eating! I get a check for the day though... :)

Woubbie, some days are like that. I'm not sure I could have been around Wannabe-Nutella, giant marshmallows, and graham crackers without falling face first into it all. I think you did good considering the environment!

Today I will be in a client's closed office catching up 2012 and I'm taking my lunch with me. I did a short dog walk this morning since the boys were at the groomer all day and probably need a good nap today. I just really need a nap or vacation from the noise in my head!!

S was for Stinking fail yesterday. Couldn't stop munching and actually gave up tracking at some point cause there were too many "justabites". Most of it was still technically OK stuff, just way too much of it. I did have a lick of Aldi brand nutella just to see if it was comparable to the regular stuff. (It was "Extreme Hide and Seek" night last night and the kids suggested smores. I had these GIANT marshmallows I had bought before July 4th so we toasted them, and I had some plain grahams still in the box, but no chocolate till I remembered the Aldi Nutella jars I just bought my younger son, who is addicted to the stuff! The wolves descended and devoured most of them!)

Not sure at all what set things off, I was just hungry all day long no matter what I ate. I'm blaming hormones for this one. I'm in one of those fussy fussy frames of mind that I've always associated with the week before my period, so it probably is a PMS kind of thing. Today I'm doing my best to eat super high fat and low protein to combat it. Wonder if that will work..,

Have a great day, all!

Maw, you smell of roses and plumeria! I left ol' what's his face some time ago, but it wasn't because of bitter melon.

I have to go find these MIM's because it sounds yummy and easy what ever it is. Though I suspect it requires a microwave and I don't own one.

Made it all the way thru CostCo with out taking a single sample....though looking at the one-bite (Halloween candy) snickers & butterfinger was mighty tempting. I got a pound of gigantic shrimp instead and will sip a glass of red wine tonight.

Bought a case (12 cans) of coconut milk for about $20. Makes it $1.66 a can....I'm not sure if that's a grand deal, but haven't bought it in so long. Liking coco-moo in coffee, no artificial sweeteners which is a loooong way from a heaping TBS of agave and a bunch of soy milk!

Oops, Carol - I sure hope I don't reek bitter melon!

I don't usually doctor up the MIMs that much, but since I'm avoiding sweeteners and dairy, I had to do something to it! I haven't made them in bulk. If I did, I'd probably eat them in bulk, too!

Maw, I didn't want to say anything negative about the bitter melon until you tried it...I personally think they are nasty & stinky. I used to see a guy who loved them but his body would reek bitter melon and not in a good way. Eventually told him he needed to make a choice: me or the bitter melon because it was so awful smelling.

Trying to keep a better attitude today and look for the positive in these financial and phone situations.....AND not resort to comforting myself with food.

Of course you were missed, Maw, I just can't keep track of what day it really is! :)

Maw, you doctor up your MIM's way more than me - I just slice them and put a glob of cream cheese on them. Have you ever tried making them in bulk by baking them in a muffin tin in the oven?? I'm getting tired of assembling and zapping one each morning, but I think that my body likes them - I feel far less hungry during the day and on the days I start out with one, I am much less likely to mindlessly munch. I just want to have several on hand and not keep measuring out the ingredients one MIM at a time!

Did my exercises today, did a short dog walk (they're going to the groomer today), and am going to go stroll around town with a friend later.

I haven't posted since Tuesday! And nobody even missed me? :(

Don't know what is going on, or what was going on, but haven't binged in about a week. Not that they were particularly bad binges. It was the how and why of the eating that concerned me. Mindlessly, intentionally eating more than I needed or wanted and until I felt sick. I don't like it when I do that!

Last night I fixed the bitter melon that I got at the Farmers Market last Saturday. It was (I think) a Fillipino recipe with ground pork, ground beef, onion, garlic, and fish sauce. It was ok. Definitely eatable, but probably not something I'll make again. And I'll probably not buy bitter melon again, either. Just an experiment.

Had a MIM for breakfast today. Still not using sweeteners (though I accept that there is some in the bacon and such that I'm eating now that I'm off the Whole30) and not eating dairy, so I added some cocoa powder and some dried unsweetened coconut, used coconut oil instead of butter, and then poured some coconut milk over it. It was ok, but not nearly as good as with a couple of packets of splenda, and butter and whipping cream! It's probably a good thing it wasn't as good, too, since the last time I had them I was having one or two a day for a couple of weeks and that was not good for me.

No exercise other than just daily living, but that's ok with me for now. I did defrost and reorganize one of the freezers yesterday, and moved stuff around between the two so I think I have room now for the beef tongue and heart that I think I'm getting for free tomorrow at the Farmers Market. I'm getting some eggs, too, but I'M NOT GETTING ANYTHING ELSE! I keep buying way too much and I have at least another week's worth of veggies that need to be used up.

Have a great last day of summer!

Leslie, I was just telling someone the other day that even though I'm only doing 4 different ST exercises a day (all arms), have been regularly increasing reps and weight...guess who kinda likes ST and the ache going on in arm muscles, too? It's the oddest thing.

Well, it's a new day, which means I'm up way too late.

Actually not, as for the next several days I will have to work until at least 1:00 a.m. Still feels wrong tho', I'm not the night owl I used to be.

I had (am still having) a good day - did 30 minutes of cardio, and then this afternoon after I got home from the Honda dealer took the boys for their walk. They are wiped out now and that is a good thing!! I didn't take lunch with me (had no idea how long the work would take), but I had a protein shake (the Costco ones) and a cheese stick on the drive home. That turned out to be just right, and then I had the last serving of broccoli salad a little bit ago.

I am thawing out several forms of meat and probably the bratwurst or ground beef will be cookable first. Tonight I'm going to hit the job hunting project hard and hope something sparks my interest and fits me! I need to get a life!

This cardio business wears me out and I kinda like it!

Wow, first internet connection I've had since Friday. I suppose I could have done the dial-up at home, but it makes me nuts.

Nothing good to report, food's been bad, a little exercise (hunting last weekend). Zero carb so far today, need to go shopping and do some cooking. This one day off a week doesn't do it for me, I need a day to unwind before I'm up to prepping for the next week, and I'm not getting it.

Fortunately, the commercial fishing will end next Sunday, and I can start being normal again.

Sheesh!! (Or should I say "Arrrrrrghghgh!!") What have I been doing since the 12th?!?!? I hate when I "fall off" a thread!

Ups and downs this month.

UPSIDE:
Protein and fat numbers looking good
DOWNSIDE:
Carbs a little high

UPSIDE:
Really doing well M-F with walking, squats, crunches, Tai Chi, and weights. Put jumps on hold while right knee does some kind of pain thing
DOWNSIDE:
Still not doing Zumba x3 per week like I want to. Even invested in the right shoes so no excuse i=other than household distractions!!

UPSIDE:
Alcohol intake is lower than anytime since about 1985
DOWNSIDE:
I'm kinda letting the lower alcohol % and the lower calories of the MGD64 encourage me to go over on ounces more often than I should. Haven't decided yet how much of a problem this is...

UPSIDE:
Calories have been under 2000 quite a few days this month
DOWNSIDE:
I seem to rebound to over 2000 for several days if I'm under more than one day at a time.

So I think I'm probably going to keep the same goals for October at this rate. Until the stuff is habit/second nature it's not complete. Can I get an "Aye, aye"!

LoL, the hunka hunka is Shemar Moore...yummy!
Over in my BLC20 challenge Wednesday is weigh day and if its a loss, my reward (and everyone else's) is a hottie!
If I gain/maintain I put back the pic of my FJ (bus) as a note to get back on the exercise bus/wagon and kick my okole in gear.

This week I lost...2.2 pounds woot. and it's been holding steady at that number for 3 days, so hopefully it's a true sticking weight.

Wow, Carolann, your carbs are LOW! LOL

I am unchecking yesterday - don't ask - but today is off to a good start. Dog walk done, exercises done, and I'm off to a client's office shortly.

I have decided to go back to doing my cardio and exercises on alternating days. I have a tendency to overload myself and then feel defeated because I can't keep up with my own standard. If I do daily dog walks, cardio on T-Th-Sa, exercises on M-W-F, and take Sunday off I don't think I will feel so overloaded in the mornings. Maybe I used to do that because it worked for me! Duh...

Today continued to be a good day. I had a fantastic supper! I made Crockpot Ropa Vieja with Cuban Cauli-Rice from paleomg.com, except that I made it in the pressure cooker instead of the crockpot. It was so good! A bit high in carbs, but I think that could be adjusted some quite easily. Here's the link: paleomg.com/crockpot-ropa-vieja-cuba
n-
style-rice/
. The Cuban Cauli-Rice (she calls it Cuban Style Rice) tastes a lot like I remember Spanish Rice tasting. You know, rice with tomatoes, bacon and onion? Probably never been closer to Spain than Chop Suey was to China? Anyway, I think it would be easy to make a main dish out of it by adding some hamburger to it. And it would be a lot faster and easier than making the Ropa Vieja. And a lot lower carb, too, since I'd cut back on the tomatoes but would probably leave in the peppers and onion.

Low tonight, according to the evening news, is supposed to 36!

Yesterday was a good day, food-wise, though strange because of a crazy mixed up schedule. But no binging (not even on protein and fat), my calories and carbs were in roughly the range I like them to be, and my fat % was nice and high. Today looks to be more of the same, though I'm fixing a pot roast for supper and I tend to have problems with those. So, here's the deal. I will eat no more than half of it, and less is better. It's a little one, only about 2 pounds, so half of it is still a whole lot of meat.

I helped at a program at the library last night by Melchior Marionettes. It was fantastic! Just one puppeteer, Heidi, presented was amounted to a variety show, with about 10 or so marionettes coming out one at a time and performing to music. If you're in the Indiana area and get a chance to see her, I highly recommend it!

I decided that I definitly have digestive issues with cheese, at least in large quantities, so while I'm not going to eliminate dairy entirely, I will cut back on it. Mostly I'm not going to eliminate it entirely because I've got a bunch of casseroles in the freezer that have cheese in them that need to be used up. But I did just fine for a couple of months with no dairy at all, so I don't see much need to start using a lot of it. I'm going to go back to eating processed foods, too, including bacon and ham and sausage, even though it has a bit of sugar in it. So I'll still be eating mostly Paleo, but not as strict as the Whole30. It was an interesting experiment, though.

And I am back to my old workouts that I liked so much! I finished a stupid, poorly written audio book that did NOT inspire me, and today I started one by a favorite author that is entertaining and interesting and does not make me roll my eyes!! I did 35 minutes on my ski machine after the shorter version of our morning dog walk...

I'm back and back to low carb. I'm going to be under 40 carbs a day for the next two weeks, than I'm going to follow Chris Powell carb cycling solution. But I need to get back on track with cravings first so low carb for two weeks straight first.

Full dog walk this morning, but I forgot to turn on the alarm last night so I slept a tad later than I meant to. Had to skip the cardio and other exercises, but that's okay. My eating's been good, but I'll probably go over my calories a little. That number is just a number anyway - I am not sure it's valid!

In other exciting news, this was my LAST day at the Crazy Lady's office! My replacement is taking over and is doing great. She's suspicious that I am leaving for reasons other than what I gave her, but I just stuck with the 'too busy with clients' story... :) It feels good to be out of there!! I did leave my card with my cell phone number with the three awesome employees/contract workers who I liked so much. Said they could text me the good stuff! It will be fun to hear about from a safe distance.

S is for....slightly sunburned from Sunday's silliness & socializing....it's actually just a healthy pinkness, but had to go with the "s" theme.

Good luck with the bittermelon! While they are quite interesting, I've never developed a taste for them even though they are used a lot in local style cooking out here.

It's time for me to call it a night...tired!

Today was much better food-wise than yesterday, though my carbs were higher than usual. I got a small basket of about 8 small peaches, and boy are they ever good! I asked at the Farmers Market yesterday if I could buy just one peach, and he gave it to me instead. It was so good I went back and bought the basket. Had two more of them yesterday, and three of them today. So there must have been at least ten, because I have at least four of them left. As I said they are small, but that's still more carbs than I'm used to. I think I ended up the day with about 60 net carbs, and I usually try to average around 40.

Got lots of other good stuff at the FM, too. A lug (I think. A box anyway.) of canning tomatoes and a small box of eating tomatoes. Lots of peppers. A bitter melon. (Did you know that they are low carb and high fiber? Now I just have to find out whether they taste good.) Some turnips with the greens still attached. Lettuce. Okra. Green beans. A chuck roast. Eggs. Purslane. (Which I hate to pay for after all that I've pulled from my parents' garden, but I thought I'd give it a try.) Probably some more stuff that I can't remember.

Highs today and tomorrow are/were supposed to be about 80. High on Tuesday was supposed to be about 63. I wore my sweats around the house last night, and pulled out a blanket to wrap up in as I watched tv.

Oh Maw...

I admit to being enthralled and fascinated by your freezers, but some of the packages of 'meats' would make me run for the door!

Busy day yesterday, beginning with the Farmers Market, then home to unpack and put away, then try and get the cat back into the house where she belongs before going to the library. Got there at 9:59, supposed to start work at 10! (Dumb cat!) I spent the first 3 hours at the library on my feet, and that after the FM meant close to 5 hours standing and/or walking. My poor aching feet and knees! Came home and collapsed. Ate a bunch of cheese, a bunch of pork, and a bunch of almonds when I got home. Definitely binging. Seems like I've been doing a lot of binging lately. I wonder what that's all about.

Anyway, the scale has been pretty much stuck for the last week or so, and so has the measuring tape, but my slacks are definitely looser. I usually have trouble with slacks being too big in the waist and too small in the hips. Lately, though, they've been too big in the waist, fit ok in the hips, but are too small in the knees! Apparently as I've lost weight my skin hasn't been keeping up with the losses, and my thighs are drooping down around my kneecaps. It ain't pretty!

I picked up the grass-fed ground chuck I ordered at the FM last week at a great price, and asked the farmer whether he had any organ meat, specifically heart, tongue and liver. He said he did, and I asked how much they were. He said they were really cheap because no one ever wants them. In fact, he said he'd GIVE me whatever heart and tongue he has on hand! Now I know that some of you think that heart and tongue and liver that you get for free still costs too much, but I happen to like them!

Need to process a bunch of peppers and tomatoes to freeze, but my knees and feet and telling me that today isn't the day to do it. I may do the peppers later today, since I can do a lot of that sitting down on the porch. Getting them into the freezer may be a problem. Organizing it is another thing that needs to be done on one's feet.

Have a great week coming up, and a great last half of September! (Yikes! I almost wrote last half of August, which seems a lot more reasonable.)

Yay, Betty!!

I did a 30-minute dog walk today (not counting the stand-around-and-sniff-stuff minutes), and then was at a client's office for seven hours - not time to graze or eat too much. I took cottage cheese for lunch and a protein shake for a snack.

Today: so far, so good!

Did a bit too much nibbling on cheese last night, but all is well. I've done a short dog walk today (going to start alternating between the long one and the short one so I don't wear out my little dude), did my cardio, did my jumping jacks, pushups, and crunches!!

And I'm off and running...

Fish sticks? What fish sticks? LOL

I'm off to a good start today! Did a 30-minute dog walk, did 20 minutes on my ski machine, AND I did 30 jumping jacks, 30 push-ups, and 30 crunches on my ball. Had a MIM with cream cheese for breakfast (along with an iced coffee which used up the last of my heavy cream).

I'm off to Costco next and to do a couple other errands. Laundry will complete my day off... :)

The fish sticks craze seems to be over. I keep forgetting about them until I read about them here! So no fish sticks tomorrow. Instead, I'll move the dairy to Sunday. Just in case that gives me digestive problems, I can stay home alone until Monday evening!
