How did everyone do their first week? I lost 9.7 lbs so I am very very happy with the 17DD. emoticon And now that the first week is over it has gotten so much easier. I had a pear today that tasted super sweet and they never used to taste like that! I guess the fisrt couple of days having sugar withdrawls was worth it. Hope everyone had a great first week, now for the last 10 days of Cycle 1!

Glad you found something you like - now experiment with some more flavors!
I usually just put my tea bag in the microwave with the cold water for 3 mn and it seems to be done brewing almost immediately. I like my tea stronger than most however.

So out running errands this weekend and I found Prince of Peace Organic Jasmine Green Tea. I put my cup of water in the microwave for two mins and then put the tea bag in for 3 mins and it is almost good! My husband hates it though and went back to his Lipton green tea lol. I guess the brand/flavoring really does make all the difference.

I beg to differ emoticon

They were referring to loose tea not tea bags and it depends on the size of the pot! I usually just throw a tea bag in my mug, fill it with filtered water and nuke it for 2 mn and 55 seconds. After it's microwaved, in a few minutes I have a perfect cup! I also have teapots ranging from 6c - single serving, and occasionally do the whole ritual of warming the pot etc. That always makes me want scones or tea biscuits however. I love those British "Digestive" biscuits like McVities (unfortunately not 17DD compliant).

I beg to differ about making tea....the water has to be boiling (bubbly boiling), then pour it into the pot and let it sit for about 3 - 5 minutes for the perfect cup of tea.

However, I use Teaopia and a steeping cup or a diffuser. The water again must be boiling and then steeped for how many minutes that certain tea calls for...most of them are anywhere from 3 - 6 minutes for the perfect cup of tea.

The british say that you add 1 tea bag for every person and one for the pot...I find it a little strong that way lol.

Tea lover's don't boil the water for tea but bring it to the point of just starting to boil. When I can find it I buy tea from China. It is a lot cheaper and I think it tastes better than the north american brands. It is usually in the "foreign" foods section.

KITA for Gabby. LOL! Don't wait until Monday do what you can today and continue tomorrow. Progress not perfection.

Everyone's doing so great! I never got notifications that anyone was posting here!

@Latenel - don't take green tea supplements - they can be dangerous. Try different brands of green tea. I love green tea and drink it all day but recently I bought Bromley and threw out the whole box. It was like "drinking dirt mixed with sticks"! LOL!

My favorite is Celestial Seasoning's "antioxidant" It has "antioxidant" written in the top right corner and has a slight citrusy flavor. You can also drink white tea or Oolong for the same effect. In fact some Oolong is marketed as "weight loss" tea. I also just like Lipton.

As for me, I haven't been 100% complliant this week so it looks like another Monday try. I just wasn't feeling well all week and didn't feel up to shopping or cooking. I was out of lemons and yogurt etc. and ate leftover Easter dinner for a few days instead of cooking.

I don't know if this will help with the green tea but I make it like "sun tea". If you're not familiar with that, I just use hot tap water (2 quarts) and add 5 green tea bags and let it steep for like an hour or two and my green tea doesn't taste bitter. I then put the whole thing in the fridge. Then if I want hot tea, I just heat it in the micro or for cold just add ice. Give that a try and see if your tea tastes better. I had gotten away from the tea drinking because I was just being lazy and getting more into coffee. That and the fact that I keep cheating has kept my weight loss stalled. I guess it's time to get off my butt and get going again. Diet vacation is over!

I read that if you brew green tea with water that is around 180-190°F it comes out less bitter. (As opposed to boiling which is about 212°F). To achieve this some people boil the water in the pot and then add an ice cube to cool it down before pouring over the tea.... Never tried this personally, but maybe it's worth a shot.

I know that I don't "have" to drink the green tea, but if I'm going to do the diet I figure it's there for a reason and all of the green tea supplements I have looked at have scary crazy ingredients or are very expensive so I just suck it up and chug my tea twice a day. I only steep it for 3-4 minutes as that's as strong as I can take it.

OK, here is what I would do....
Do NOT restart c1...finish it, go to cycle 2 and do that 17 days "clean" and then c3 17 days "clean", then if you want go back to cycle 1. Do Not start c1 right now. That will be too many days on that cycle and that calls for failure. If you continue on "clean" and then do the other cycles, you will be fine.
Just Please, Please, Please do not re-start right now.

I'm going to restart C1 today. I did so well the 1st week on was on it. Ever since Eater weekend I have not been able to regain my self control. I slip in one way or another. I made it to day 12, but that is with "cheat" days in between. I just feel disappointed in my lack of progress and regression.

That is funny about the lemons NYM!

Try making your green tea weaker until you adapt to the taste.

The lemon water I'm good about, it's the green tea that kills me. Tastes like drinking dirt mixed with sticks. But I still have managed to suck down 2 cups every day so far this week. Had a bit of a slide last night with some leftover green bean cassorole but it was the last of it so no more till Thanksgiving.

LOL I'm the same way, Linda. I had to travel for about 10 days recently and I had a little sack of lemons in my suitcase with me --- my friends cracked up! I have lemons in my office because some days (like today) I have a super early start (6am for overseas Skype session this morning) and I need it to get rolling!

Hello everyone! I'm a little late to the party. Lol Starting C1 again tomorrow. About to batch cook a bunch of food for the week. I'm hoping to really focus and lose these last few here! Ive been off 17DD & bouncing around the same few pounds for the past few months. Tried to get back on track last month but not sure what happened!

So how is everyone else doing this week? I did really well yesterday going down another 1.8lbs. Then a rougher day today as I found 2 reece's peanut butter eggs in my purse from Sunday, but so far I have stayed strong and I plan to give them to my kids when I get home from work so they will no longer be around. Hope everyone else is doing well too. Excited to see your progress. emoticon

Did well my first day. Went from 203.1 to 199.5. I know it's all "water weight" but I'll take what I can get emoticon . Have a bit of a headache today from no sugar being in my system but I'm sure that will go away in a few days. I have high hopes for the 17DD and I just hope I can put as much in it as I can.

I also started the 17 day diet today for the first time. I lost 24 pounds doing HCG this winter but have gained back 8 of them. So I looked for something that had the same structure as HCG but more eating flexability and found the 17DD.

I have a question for all of you?

Even though you may not be "following the plan" to the letter....you are still coming in here and posting!!!! Ever wonder why???????

Well my answer to that is .... because this is the place that you can come to and know that above all else, someone ( a lot of someone's) will be here to help you back on that wagon. We are kind of like AA aren't we??? but we are 17DA lol. How cool is that????????

Good for you Gabby! I was going to restart last Monday after my weird scale issues but decided instead to continue on with a slightly modified version of C3 and it is working for me.

Linda, gosh you must have been so sick to lose all that in less than a week. I hope you are feeling much better.

I think I pretty much cleaned out my system this week by being sick, so I think I will join you guys but I will do cycle 2 instead of cycle 1. Since being sick I have lost 8.4 lbs since Monday, so I think cycle 2 would be a good place for me to begin this journey. I am now into my 54th week of this programme and want to continue on through the rest of my journey with this diet which hopefully will be the rest of my life.
I will have ups and downs I am sure, but I will always know that I can get back on track as long as I stick to this diet and stick with this group.

Anyone else want to join me?

I started my 17DD journey last year at this time. I lost 60 lbs and then lost my way. Since November I've been losing and gaining 10lbs over and over, and I'm ready for an honest restart to lose those 10 lbs. and more, once and for all.

I need to cleanse my system again and I know that C1 will do that for me. Spring is nearly here and I can no longer use winter and SAD as an excuse.

I'm going to check in here daily to keep on track and would love to have others join me for support!

(Full disclosure - I'm eating leftover Easter ham on Monday, so Tuesday will be day one for me)
