I have been off the boards over the past week because I didn't have good internet connections while visiting family. You ARE an inspiration! It must be wonderful to be back out on that bike path and walking again!

You are emoticon

@Ktisfocused... I am SO glad you posted this. because that is EXACTLY how I felt... that there are so many here who go out of their ways to help. i am not really sure if gabby is right that i have lost the most on 17dd from the people who post here, but i do know i would not have done it without the support here and the inspiration i get from reading how other real people are learning and trying and dusting themselves off after missteps and facing challenges (not just our seasonal ones).

so, feel free to use this topic or any other to highlight others.

and again, thank you to @Gabby for going out of her way to acknowledge what i have accomplished because it will always be there for me to read when i forget or minimize or hide.

with care, (and gratitude),
sharon

Sharon,
You ARE truly an inspiration but I'd also like to acknowledge some others. When I first joined 17DD Angelinda was soo welcoming and I noticed she responded to all the newbies' questions with kindness and encouragement so thank you!
Then Gabby reached out to me and we decided to be 17dd buddies and that was such a help.
Countless others VikingBabe and Pudgynomore and LSG and TruthNow and Kathymag and one girl who was such an inspiration when I first started (can't remember her name but she is young, has short brown hair, really high losses on 17DD-hope you know who you are) had so much enthusiasm she told me I could do it too.
I know I've forgotten several people but what I wanted to say is that we are all in this thing together and we are achieving our goals because of the support, inspiration and friendship among us so THANK YOU ALL! emoticon

I apologize to Gabby and all of you who have been over-the-top kind and supportive of me with your wonderful words. I was truly overwhelmed and confused by what you had to say and to be singled out when I am in AWE of so many here. So it took me this long to acknowledge any of it (or you)

I do have to say something to Gabby, who I see as an amazing motivator. I did not know how to respond... so instead of speaking, I ACTED.

I joined sparkpeople in May 2010 when I was incapacitated by spinal and nerve damage. some from physical activity.. some from very poor posture and abdominal structure... some from a congenital issue i did not know i had... and although no one talked of it... much extra weight. i spent a lot of months in traction and other therapies. when i started to feel better i went for a walk and dislocated and damaged my "good" knee.

well, one of my march motivations to achieve by the end of March was to venture onto the bike path that i used to ride on. well, today, i did just that, except i ended up with more than "venturing". i rode 11.97 miles in 1 hour 27 minutes of actual ride time, including two major hills i was able to get up without stopping. it has been more than two years since i have ridden on a bike path. to get there i had to find the bike rack and load the bike. i wore my helmet and packed a few cycle 1 foods and some water.

i will try and put some pictures up on a blog. two are funny (IMHO).

I would not have done this today. i chose to honor Gabby's faith and all of your chiming ins either here or my spark page or via sparkmail.

with care, and gratitude,
Sharon

ps. one of my other march goals is to walk 3 miles. so i returned later in the day and walked the path for 47 minutes. but, did not have food and water (lesson learned).

pps. thank you all again

@Truthnow2 - Sharon, I saw that your huddle said that you reached a goal,so I was trying to figure out what it was. I just happened to look at your personal weight loss per 17DD round by your signature -

WOW!!! 4 rounds and 61 lbs lost on this!!! You are definitely the champ and team motivator!!! You have surpassed anyone else that I know of from this team.

It's not just what the scale shows but all the other things:
I bet people don't even realize how challenging the food planning is for you, since you avoid eating meat.
The new members also don't know that when you started, you barely could leave the house to go swim at the gym, since that was the only exercise that you could do. You couldn't walk without assistance. Now you're taking trips alone, doing big city walkabouts, trying to complete a 5K and you're up to 2.4 miles and taking your dog to the park for walks!

You have overcome hurdles that would have been insurmountable for a lot of people and have done it in such a quiet, unassuming way while giving support to others.

Everyone should go to your home page and vote for you as a Spark motivator because you are truly an inspiration. I have tears in my eyes thinking about everything that you have accomplished.

I am so proud to call you my friend.
