Thanks for the b-day wishes. So I gave away the rest of the cupcakes my hubby got me (never ate any of them) and froze the diet cake and thought I might eat a piece here and there. Doing well today and ready to get this scale moving down again and the belly fat to go. emoticon

Way to go, ALL4ME. You got some great advice to help you manage that we can all put to use, I think.

Happy birthday, KTIS!

Linda-Thank you again for the support! It means so much. Yesterday's party was the second party I've been to where the theme was Mexican food--my favorite food. The first time wasn't as hard. Yesterday was a bit harder, but I plowed through, as they say.

KTISFOCUSED-First, happy birthday! Thank you for your response. Yes, it could be levels of blood sugars. I did eat more protein than I had been on C1, and it helped. If it were my birthday, I would have eaten some kind of cake. That is for sure! At least you made a WW cake instead of a high-calorie one.

The good news is after all the struggling this week and with that party, I am down another 2 lbs this morning! Yippee! This is what I needed to stay focused through the rest of this cycle. Love this group!

Just my little bit of input. I have cravings off and on no matter how compliant I am. I know from bloodwork that I have bad blood sugar issues and the insulin resistance that goes with it which is why I had so much trouble losing weight. When I'm good, I just fight through the cravings with a protein snack and give myself credit for not giving in and know that it will go away and I'll be happy with the results. Sometimes the cravings are worse if I've exercised a lot By the way congrats to you for resisting. Wish I had done a little better. Yesterday was my birthday (a milestone one-60 yuk!) and so I made a WW cake and ate that instead of the regular cake (but too much of it) and had cabbage and carrots and a teeny bit of corned beef. But yesterday is over and now life goes on. So keep up the good work. It will eventually show up the way you want it to.

Way to Go!!!!! or as we say here "WEIGH to go!!!!" You did a super job at putting off those cravings and you should be very, very proud of yourself. I do believe the first time that happens that we have to go to a party, is the hardest. It will get easier as the time goes on. Just don't forget...you can always do the 3 bite rule too. But GOOD FOR YOU for just not bothering to have that cake. I know how hard that can be.

Thank you all for the support! I ate more protein at lunch with my salad, and I took some yogurt and a hard boiled egg to the party in a mini lunch box. I took the skin off some chicken that was there and had some salsa on it with my egg and yogurt. There wasn't anything else I could eat. I did well. I was up and around and watching the kids play when it was tempting. I didn't have any birthday cake! I didn't have any alcohol! My hubby was very supportive, also. I came home and had a normal dinner. It was hard, but I did it! I am so glad I didn't give in! The hardest part was seeing drinks with friends, but I just stayed with my water.

Cindy-I don't like fish at all except tilapia spiced up, but I will keep the capsules in mind. I read about your success all the time and try to learn from your experience. You look great and sound very happy with how you feel and being able to maintain the weight. That's wonderful! I can't wait to get there!

Gabby-I did eat oatmeal a bit early on in cycle 2, but I didn't seem to lose, so I quit eating it. Who knows whether it is a physical or mental...probably a little bit of both, but my cravings weren't as bad today. Seeing and smelling all that candy at my school every day for two weeks seemed to jump start my cravings I'm ready for that fundraiser to be over!

Today is the first day of the rest of my life! Michelle

What starches have you added? Oatmeal has triggered cravings and hunger for some or, like you said it could be just the visual triggers around you. Keep in mind all your successes and know that you can remain on track.

Eat before you go to the party tomorrow so you're not hungry and practice some positive affirmations. Change any negative talk to postive statements. For example, instead of "that cake looks so good - on little piece won't hurt; change it to "I'm doing so well with my food plan that it's easy to stick to and I have no desire for empty calories" or "I know that if I want - I can have 3 bites and have no desire for more" - "Sugar makes me ill"

Don't pay any attention to the scale - your body is recompositioning itself. I didn't lose until the very last few days.

The other thing that helps me with cravings is disgusting fish oil capsules. Ok, Ok, they are not really disgusting. They don't taste like anything these days but I can remember the old days when every time you burped you were breathing sardines. The fish oil keeps me going and when I need a treat I eat them instead just to give myself a little protein boost and sike myself into believing that I just ate something. If you wait about 15 minutes after you take to of the honkin things...you will feel like you have eaten something. They also help me when I'm into my regular exercise schedule, to keep my energy up.

Linda,

Thank you! Yes, I might not be getting enough protein. I will try more. My kids have been having various activities at school and bringing home "stuff" from parties. The school I teach at is having a candy drive to raise money, so it is all around the school! I think seeing it much more is making it harder for me to put it out of my mind like I had done. I have been chewing gum, and that did help today. It is so nice to have this group to share the victories and the struggles.

OK, first off, stop the panic...your body is totally confused and just needs time to catch up...if you are noticing changes, then you are doing something right. I am worried about the cravings though...by day 9 you shouldn't have cravings anymore..especially in round 2. Try drinking more water and chewing gum, eating lots of protein, anything that will take those cravings away...maybe the protein is the answer. You were portioning in c3 and now you are allowed unlimited protein...you may not be getting enough in.
As for the b/d party...try the 3 bite rule if it gets to be too much for you. Have 3 bites and walk away from whatever it is you are eating. If you have to drop it in the dirt or anything just to not eat any more than 3 bites. My suggestion is have 3 bites, and get up and throw it in the garbage, but explain to the host why you are doing that lol...could get upsetting if they think it is because it is bad or something lol.
Nibble on any protein that is around and if there isn't chew gum...wash dishes do anything to take your mind off eating.
You will be fine, just tell yourself over and over why you are doing this and if...and that is a big IF, you give into temptation, it isn't the end of the world...you will carry on the next day. You my dear are human...don't ever forget that.

Hi all,

This is Round 2, C1, Day 9, and I'm struggling. I have stayed true to the program but have had many more cravings and wants for sweets. I'm hoping to hear from people who have been successful to share some stories or give some tips so I don't eventually give into the cravings. We have many events coming up, including a birthday party tomorrow, and I don't want to cave and give into temptation. It doesn't help, also, that I have only lost 1 lb and 1/2 in 9 days. Yes, I notice changes in my body, and that is great. I just need some encouragement to get me through this rough spot.

Thank you very much!
