It's been a hectic weekend, but I am going to stop at the grocery store on my way home from town today and get a fresh supply of GOOD food! Tomorrow is a new day/week/beginning!

In the beginning I was resisting everything, even freshly baked buns.

Somewhere I think I got complacent and - because TOM is here I can have some chocolate, -some one was having sweetener and milk in their coffee and they were maintaining so I can do that too, - some one was having more than a "condiment" serving of cheese and they were maintaining so I can do that too.

I think I started off track slowly and stopped paying attention to what really works for me and against me.

DH didn't get me anything for Valentine's day, he did some grocery shopping! I am maintaining but that isn't what I need to be doing right now! Time to regroup! I am with you Sweetneet!

Sharon, I love your idea about focusing on just a fraction of time. In the beginning my only hard part was in the evening and I would think "I am not going to blow a whole days worth of hard work with only a couple of hours to go". Now I need to think that I am not going to waste the potential of a great day on a moment of weakness when cravings hit me in the beginning or middle of the day.

Terri

No excuses. The next few seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years will go by no matter what.

That's part of my problem this past week, too, SWEETNEET. And I don't even really LIKE sweets that much (it's the salty stuff that is my weakness!). I've moved the jars of chocolate out of my line of vision and hoping I can "re-group" going forward!

As Sharon touched on refined sugars can be addicting because they really do affect our brain. They make us produce more of that feel good hormone which is why we crave them after eating them. I also agree with Linda that you don't have to go on C1 for a full 17 days. I've been having the same problem. I've been on C4 since November and I still have 100 lbs to lose!

Awesome comments and great support here at 17 day. I'm glad that Sweetneet2 said it because I always knew sweet treat and fattening carbs could talk. They might not talk but these treats send out a signal that only carb addicts can hear. I try to tell myself would an alcoholic have booze in the house to test their level of recovery. I just don't think I would ever be able to resist temptation in my home. Am I crazy?

This is why I love being a part of this team!!!!!! Sharon, you broke it down so eloquently. My official weight loss start anniversary date is coming up on Feb 21st. I had decided to do Cycle 4 until then and start a new mission to lose 20 lbs. The maintenance was going great until this week. As of tonight, I am putting all candies and cakes out of my life and will follow through on my original mission. Thanks for the HELP y'all!

Quint # 1 gave you awesome advise.
Now Quint #2 is going to tell you to go back to c1 for a few days to detox...you don't have to stay there for the full 17 days, but if you have gained anything...stay there until it is off, then go to either 2 or 3 and finish out the 17 days.

I too have been doing a c4 thingy and I too have been maintaining pretty well. If I see a couple of lbs going back on, I do the c 1 thing for a day or 2 and I find it working out pretty well. I just may continue this until spring comes and I can get outside more. We have had a good winter, but my mentality is telling me that regardless of how good it is, it is still winter and it is hard to motivate myself to do anything in winter....so come on Spring, I need to get motivated again!!!!!!!!

You can do this hon. Quints 1 & 2 have faith so far, and I am sure that 3 & 4 &5 are not far behind us.

Hmm. The good news about having the awesome quints is that each of us is so very different. Plus we really have more than the quints cause there are some other really active members who are not official leaders, like Kathymag.

So, here's my take.
the Good
1- You did GREAT by posting this and being honest.
2- I did not know you were in cycle 4 and having real success maintaining (which is the fear of a lot of us about cycle 4 that it is so hard to maintain)
3- I didn't hear any real bashing of yourself which would just prolong a spiral.

so, here's my action plan:
1- Make believe it was one of us posting what you posted.... what would you say and suggest?
2- What were the reasons you had for losing the weight you have lost (which you are definitely to be congratulated for)
3- Refined sugars may be calling your name, but that is because they are so very addicting and wreak havoc with your health and well being. You really need to get them out of your environment.
4- Break the day down into manageable chunks and reward yourself for each segment that you avoid sugar. (even a gold star might do the trick).
5- If you gained weight, then since you are on cycle 4... go to cycle 1 until you lose the weight you gained.
6- And back to number 1.... what do you think will work best to get you out of the spiral?

emoticon

I know you can. I know you will.

I have great respect for you.

With care,
Sharon

Thanks Kathy! I know that it is going to be a little rough in the beginning but I really have no choice but to commit to C1 for 17 days. It has been a while since I have done it, but I know I can do it. I just have to get my mind right. This will get me back in the weight loss groove. Thanks again girly for chiming in! Anita

In 5 words....."Go Back To Cycle One".......

Just to detox your system from all that sugar.......and then climb your way back up to C4, if you really want to stay at 175-178.

But - you need to give yourself a motivational kick right now - and because you have that sugar in your system - you're just gonna crave more sugar. Time to get rid of it again so you don't have those cravings..........(Sugar begets sugar.....*sigh*).

Good luck!!

Kathynag

I am putting this out there because I have fallen into a spiral that is getting bigger by the day! A day of Valentine treats have turned into 3 days of sweets! I know I can count on the "Awesome Quints" (Team Leaders) to get me out of this spiral. I have been living in Cycle 4 since the beginning of the year. Not because I have reached my goal, but because I wanted to see how well I could survive in the Arrive / maintenance phase. I was doing so well, maintaining 176-178 weight. But, this is crazy. I have been doing great on the food and beverage portion but these darn sweets keep calling my name!!! HELP!!!!
