I hope these shots get you through the winter months. That would be super helpful!

Not on track these days. I am trying to renew my willpower.

I got the final set of shots in both knees today for this current round. I will go back in March for the next set. I am noticing some improvement, but I know the shots won't last me for 6 months, but that is what the protocol for this treatment is. My doctor told me I could try another type of shot in about 4 months if I feel like I need something else. I'll see how things go.

I am on track today for the most part, but I feel tired again. I am hoping to rest before I make supper so that I am not super hungry just from being tired.

I think taking a break is a good idea. Sometimes doing so rejuvenates me to be very compliant when I go back on plan.

I strayed today for no good reason, other than my schedule got turned a little topsy turvy, but I often handle this better than I did today. Looking forward to a better day tomorrow for sure.

Day 17

Home grown veggies are sooo good. We enjoyed a lot of lettuce and beans earlier this summer. I picked the tomatoes before it snowed. A lot of them are ripe, but I still have a number of green ones. I am eating them most days. My carrots are still being held hostage by wet soil. I am hoping it dries up a bit this week so I can get them out.

Trying to decide what's up next. I may take a bit of a break and head to Cycle 1 on Oct 1. I won't abandon my diet, but it will give me some time before heading back to a lot of chicken and lettuce.

Glad you had a good Sunday. It can set the tone for the rest of your week. I didn't realize you planted a garden. Homegrown carrots sound wonderful. Today a friend of mine stopped by unexpectedly to bring us more goodies from her garden. I was surprised she still has veggies this late in September. She apparently had picked the tomatoes and peppers a while ago but was away for a few days and just now had time to stop by with them. DS and I shared the tomatoes at supper tonight (I made chicken again). I made mac and cheese for DS but didn't eat any of that. The tomatoes were incredibly yummy, almost sweet. Will have to wait for next year's crop for any more.
Are you going to C1 in a few days? If you do I bet you will see at least one pound melt away this week.

Day 16
I had a good food day yesterday. I tracked everything I ate. Here is to another good day. Still my same goal. Lose 1 pound this week.

Our weather brightened up a bit. The snow was melting and felt like Spring. I am hoping to be able to get outside soon. I have to harvest my carrots and pick up a lot of leaves.

Wow! .2 oz is like nothing! Imagine how good you will do this week when you are more on track! I am surprised at your weather. It makes me realize that I should not complain about our weather just being gray and dreary the past few days. I am not a snow lover!

I went out to brunch with my church friends after church instead of going to our usual coffee hour. We had a lot of fun and found it easier to gab than at coffee hour because we had fewer interruptions. I ordered a veggie omelette and was pleased to find out that I could substitute fresh fruit or fresh veggies for the hash brown potatoes that usually come with the omelette. We had fun at brunch but the service was terrible. This diner is close to our church, and we have been there many times, but after today's poor service I am not sure we will return any time soon. I am even considering writing a bad review for it on Trip Advisor.

I am counting on a good week ahead. No food challenges are on the calendar as far as I can tell.

Day 15
Luckily I am only up .2 oz. I was expecting to have gained so much more, especially after having lunch at Panda on Friday. I really need to lock in and get some weight loss going.

Today I need to get a few groceries, vacuum and finish a presentation on budgeting and calendaring. I go to church on Saturday evening (our church has 4 service times) and we find Saturday evening a really good fit to our schedule. The weather is still cold and snowy, which is not at all normal for this time of year. Its been keeping me from my deck and garden. Hoping to see a few more sunny days,

I like the idea of a visual reminder....and on your desk at work sounds like a good spot.

I had a super busy day today. I made chicken with peppers, mushrooms, and green beans. Sounds like a weird combination but it was quick and easy. I am exhausted after all I did today but happy that I had so much energy to get things done, both at home and errands including more grocery shopping, getting gas, and a few other stops.

Time for bed. A new week lies ahead.

Day 14

I know my sodium level is up based on food choices. I am expecting a gain tomorrow. I know if I wasn't paying any attention to diet that I would be climbing up at a much higher rate. I was not on track for the week but I have to keep trying. I will get it. I think my problem is that I am forgetting my goals once I leave the house for the day. I get too busy and involved in other things that I just eat what's available (even if I bring healthy snacks).

I am going to take a visual reminder of my goals to work on Monday and plunk it on my desk. I am thinking of putting something in a jar (like gum balls) and every time I lose a pound I will transfer it from one jar to the other. If I gain I will return it. I am hoping that will help. I am way more disciplined in my eating at home.

Congrats on your dropped pound. Fantastic. I really needed the weekend. I was so tired, especially yesterday. I had a really good sleep last night. Hoping to stay chill this weekend since the week was too busy.

Hope you string together two good days. That can help at the scale. Remember, too, if you are off plan you probably consumed more sodium than if on plan, so that could impact you in terms of water weight. Keep that not giving up attitude. That helps too.

I was able to get a little rest today by sleeping later than typical. That really makes a difference for me. Because of the fatigue associated with RA I know I have to try my best to rest when I can, or rather rest when I should to be more accurate. I am down another pound today. I weighed in because I felt like I have been doing well. Seeing the number on the scale does motivate me when it is going in the right direction. Today I was on plan again and notice that when I am able to be consistent for a few days, I am not hungry and have no cravings. I expect the same for Saturday. I have tentative plans to skip coffee hour at church on Sunday and go out to brunch with some friends after church. That could be a challenge but I am already giving myself a pep talk about it.

Hard to believe the weekend is here already. Seems like the weeks just fly by.

I have been too busy and my eating went sideways. I only have 2 days to pull it together for my next weigh in. Pretty sure I gained this week. Cycle 3 has not gone well at all. I haven't even been drinking water throughout the day.

Not giving up tho!

My belly is better but not 100% I think its from my diet. I ate so many items that I don't usually its hard to pinpoint the exact one.

Hope you get some reset. I hope to get some rest this weekend. I think I need it. I am not good at being out late.

A much better day for me today. I feel much more rested and after a few hours of being awake this morning, less achy. I am on track with eating too. Feeling good about mostly everything. Still aware of the RA flare but rest is sooooo important for me, especially when I am flaring.

Here comes Friday. I am ready for it!

Hope your belly is feeling better.Do you find that it happens when you eat something that deviates from your standard diet? I notice that sometimes, but rarely. Are you lactose intolerant? I developed this about 9 years ago, around the same time that I was diagnosed with RA. I will definitely pray for your sons. Traveling can create stresses which can certainly lead to "issues."

I had to be up and out much earlier today than usual because DS had an early committee meeting at his college. I have been tired/fatigued all day long...really wiped out. Coupled with how I felt yesterday I am concluding that my RA is flaring again. I did go for my knee shots which hurt more than usual (perhaps related to the RA, not sure). Last week the shots didn't hurt at all. I did ok with eating today. Got in lots of fresh veggies because I didn't want to cook much. Hoping for a good night's sleep so I feel refreshed tomorrow. Much to do tomorrow so no time to slack off.

Day 10

You are so gracious! Missing out on the stuffed peppers.

Keep looking after yourself. Dr appointments seem to come around so quickly and I often joke about all of my "call backs" which seems to happen more often as I age. Neglecting the inevitable isn't helpful- nor is losing your appetite for more than a few days.

I had a better day with my food choices. I did experience pain in my belly. It happens on occasion when I eat something that doesn't agree with my sensitive stomach. I am not sure if it was a new brand of yogurt I bought. I am not going to eat any more of it until the weekend when I can chill at home if that's what it was. Suffered for a few hours last night but I am good now.

Pray for my two in Japan if you think of it. Not easy for them to get along for long periods of time together and today they had their first argument. My oldest shared so he could get it off his chest. I hope they can take breaks from each other so as not to get on each other's nerves. The joy of brothers lol.

Hope today went better for you.

I didn't eat much at all today. I was very busy again. A friend made stuffed peppers as a surprise for DS and me. Only DS ate all of them! I didn't have the heart to tell him we were to share them. And I was not in the mood to cook much for myself. So I ate tomatoes and cucumbers with lite Italian dressing and had an apple with some peanut butter as a snack. I logged all my food and am unusually low in just about all areas. This doesn't happen often so I will just let it be. I am not really hungry. I am also starting to feel stress because I know I have to schedule an appointment with my cardiologist for November (but I plan to put it off till December). I feel fine and have no symptoms but I get so very anxious about these things that I think I lose my appetite (which isn't necessarily bad).

Day 10

I had a good day work wise. A terrible day of eating. I don't even know what happened. I laid in bed this morning and took time to recommit to my plan for the week. I need a visual reminder to keep at my desk so I stay on track. I can do this.

So good that your boys stay in touch with you while away. That means a lot!

Less than a pound isn't much to worry about. It's just that you don't want that to be a weekly occurrence. A return to C1 after C3 sounds like a plan.

Today was a very good day for me. I stayed on plan except I think I overdid it with fruit at coffee hour. I actually got a little nap this afternoon and felt very refreshed afterward. I think I should take more naps! Ah, if only time allowed for that.

This should be a pretty easy-to-stay-compliant week for me. It is busy in terms of appointments and commitments, but none of them involve food. I will have to take healthy options with me while I am on-the-go, but that is not impossible. I have plenty of apples on hand and will take a hard boiled egg now and then for the protein. I think I am going to keep some almonds in the car again like I did a long time ago. A few almonds go a long way in keeping me satisfied.

Here's to a great week!

Day 8

The boys made it to Japan. They will use snapchat and send at least one photo with an image everyday. I wouldn't be on that app except that's how they prefer to send me a quick message. It helps me know they are doing well so that's good.

I am up in weight, not quite a full pound. I am going to use that info to really work hard this week. Switching over to Cycle 3 and eating out more than normal has shown me that I can't consume those extra calories. I am going to keep up with cycle three to the end and it looks like I will head back to Cycle 1 for another go. I need the healthy habits to stick better.

I am going to work on not cheating this week apart from:
-Tuesday we have dinner at a friends- I know I will need to eat cake but I will make it super small.
-Wednesday is our last pizza night but I work late and won't be home for dinner I will have 1 piece if I can't resist when I get home.
-Friday I have lunch out but I will see if I can choose the restaurant so I can pre select a meal after researching the nutritional information

Paula- Glad you have been able to get out. I enjoy getting items on sale too. Hopefully we can both stick to our food plans.

Wow, learning Japanese must have been tough! How impressive. Will you hear from your sons while they are away???

Darn the salt in some of the foods we like. I hear you on that for sure. You have more freedom on C3 but usually weight loss does slow down on that cycle. I usually don't do well on C3 I think because I feel hungrier than usual on it.

So far so good for me today I got in some extra steps by walking in the grocery store holding on to the shopping cart. It is one way for me to increase my activity level. I got some good items on sale too, including organic chicken sausage which I will cook tonight for supper. I don't buy it unless it is on sale because it is too expensive, plus the sodium content is higher than I prefer....but it does take good and is quite satisfying.

I am feeling more in control of my food choices today. This has to continue. I am planning on having fruit and only fruit at church coffee hour tomorrow.

Day 7

My oldest is quite taken with all things Japanese. He even speaks the language. His hope is to move there one day. The other son wanted to go on vacation so decided to join his brother who goes yearly.

Glad your pain is lessening and that you had some time to get know someone on a more personal level. It's good to get to know people. Veggies and hummus sounds legit. I had a terrible eating day. I had a noodle bowl that I know is full of salt and after a hectic evening we popped into a restaurant for supper. I had a chicken wrap. I ate most of it, brought some home for lunch today, but I also succumbed to some fries.

So today I really need to get back on track. I haven't been good at tracking this week so I have no real idea about how I did, I am sure my weigh in tomorrow will put me back on the right track. I want to hit my goal but I need to put the work in.

Safe travels to your sons! Wow, what a vacation. I bet they will have many interesting stories to tell. Any particular reason for choosing Japan?

Glad you are enjoying C3! I appreciate your prayers. It takes a while for the knee injections to take effect but today has been a pretty good day for me so far. I ended up going out to lunch with a volunteer from one of the charities I am involved with. It was kind of a working lunch, so not really "me" time by my definition. What I enjoyed though was getting to know her better. She has been with us a while, but I knew her mostly through the organization. Today was more of a personal interaction, and I really enjoyed it. I was really hungry and yet not much on the menu appealed to me....then I saw hummus and veggies and that is what I opted for. Not too bad I guess. Dinner tonight is shrimp, broccoli, and salad.

Here's to a great weekend!

Day 6

Last night I made the Alfredo recipe from the book. I was surprised how good it was. Still feels weird eating more carbs on this cycle, they are soooo good lol.

Sounds like you should try and schedule some time in your calendar for yourself. You have been craving it for a number of days and you don't want to hit a wall by neglecting yourself. I think there is great wisdom in saying that if you want to be able to care for your friends then you better take care of yourself too.

Glad to hear that your procedures are bearable and that they help. I will be praying that you get lots of relief.

Tonight we take one son to the airport and the other one tomorrow morning. They are both traveling to Japan. Different flights as one booked on points and the other found a much better deal on a different airline. They will vacation together for 3 weeks. I wish I was going with them.

How nice of your husband to take you out for dinner like that. I bet your activity level will offset any potential gain. I am having chicken, broccoli, and a salad tonight. It is easy and fills me up. I am still craving "me" time. My schedule is pretty full because of transporting DS everywhere and trying to keep things in order at home and helping out a friend who is having a rough time right now. I actually have 2 friends who are "in need" at the moment. I love them and do all I can to help them. I am realizing that I also have to take better care of myself if I am to help them.

The Euflexa shots do not hurt much at all. I think this partly due to the amazing technique used by my orthodpedic doctor. It takes a while to feel the benefits of the shots but already I am noticing a little difference. Today it was more shots, this time in my hands from the physician's assistant at my dermatologist's office. I got so many shots in my hands today I couldn't even count them all. I would say it is over 20. Skin problems can be part of some autoimmune diseases. I have Atopic dermatitis (also called eczema). Lately it has settled in my hands. The PA injects a steroid into the affected areas. Theses shots don't hurt much either and, in my opinion, are worth any discomfort because they really do help.

Day 5

I am taking salmon for lunch today. It's a good go to.

I hope the shots will help relieve the symptoms for you. Is it a painful procedure?

Lunch yesterday was Subway. All the subs were basically the same. I was disappointed but I hadn't brought any back up lunch. Feels weird eating bread lol. We had our pizza night too which wasn't helpful for my diet. At least I was quite active yesterday. My husband came at my dinner break and took me out. He took the extra pizza home to our boys. It was a nice break in my day. Now I am just hoping I don't gain this week. I think I will be okay with my weigh in as long as I don't go up.

Hope you can set aside some "me" time. I need to find time to clean my house. I've been too busy too.

I grocery shopped today but made salmon tonight as nothing called my name in the store to make anything different. I started more Euflexa shots in both knees today. I will go for them again for the next 2 Wednesdays for a series of 3 shots. I love my orthopedic doctor and trust him a lot. I think he understands me.

Hope all went well with your staff lunch and then your dinner out. Chicken is a good choice. Woo hoo on the pants news!

Still feeling like I need some "me" time, but not finding much free time these days for myself.

Day 4
I didn't do too badly. I did have some chocolate and a pumpkin spice latte. I had a small latte that was half sweet. I had meeting with a girl that I mentor so it was nice to sip on a hot drink. Supper was salmon, broccoli and a little bit of potato. I have woken up hungry and I see blueberry griddle cakes on the menu. That's exciting!

I will most likely eat dinner out as I will be at work late. I will choose chicken and veggies. We have a staff lunch and I don't know what will be served, but I am hoping there will be a salad to fill my plate if nothing else.

Hope today went well for you Shari. I did pretty well again. It was another one of those days where I was almost too busy to eat. But even with phone calls, a visitor, and a bunch of chores, I did cook a healthy supper of turkey burgers and a very nice salad. I have another pretty full day tomorrow and am planning to cook some salmon from the freezer unless I find something else if I get to the grocery store. I am having one of these weeks that just won't stop. I am having a hard time finding any "me" time. Maybe by Saturday I will be able to take some time for myself. I think I really need it.

Day 3

I love Russian/Ukrainian food. My mom is from Belarus so I have been fortunate to enjoy many "home" cooked meals. Yum! And with great company and conversation to with it makes for such an enjoyable experience.

My yesterday was not good. I felt hungry most of the day and ate poor snack choices. That happens if I don't bring enough good choices to work with me. That is behind me now. I have 5 days to reach my goal, so like you I want to see some good numbers at my next weigh in. I will need to work for it.

Glad you enjoyed the retreat! And great going on your food choices. Sounds like you did great, even with the snacks. (It could be a lot worse, you know)

We didn't go the festival because the weather was not good (rainy and damp) and much of the festival is outdoors. But we did go out to eat and enjoyed some ethnic foods at a Russian/Ukrainian deli in our town. The best part was how happy my son John was to spend time with his cousin Natalie and vice versa. She is 3 years younger than John, and they have a great relationship. I loved watching the two of them together. I am also sooooo impressed with Natalie. She has had a very full exciting life so far (lived abroad in Greece, Turkey, Middle East, etc.), mostly doing work in refugee camps. And she is just as sweet, kind, warm, and bright as can be. I am so glad she is living near us at least for now (only 90+ minutes away by bus).

I was not on track on Saturday or Sunday but had a nearly perfect day today. I expect the same for tomorrow and the rest of the week as I see no food challenges till Sunday and even then I am prepared to make compliant choices. I need to see some good numbers at my next weigh in.

Day 2

It was a really good retreat. I choose from the food options very wisely at mealtime. I was proud of myself. I brought yogurt for snacks but also had some treats (chocolate covered raisins, a handful of chips, and some jelly candies). I start today back on track.

Did you make it to the festival? If so, what foods did you try? That sounds like a great event!

emoticon I found you Shari!!!!

Enjoy your retreat! C3 is a better cycle to be on for such a weekend compared to C1 or 2.

I did stay out of the kitchen because I conked out while reading. I must have been really tired because I just fell into a very deep sleep while reading in our family room. I know I must have really needed it.

I did fine today but not sure how tomorrow will go. My 25 year old Goddaughter (whom I adore) is coming to visit for the day. She grew up on Texas (her dad and I are first cousins) but is living in Brooklyn at the moment. She called today and told me she wanted to come to visit us tomorrow. I am super excited to see her. I haven't seen her in just over 2 years. I know we will go out to eat and possibly also go to an ethnic food festival at my former church, depending on the weather. I will be ok with whatever we do. I know I will be back on track by Sunday or Monday.

Cycle 3- Here we go!

Switching the posting place on you Paula.

Losing a debit card is such a pain- but its worse when it gets used by someone unauthorized.
Hope you managed to stay clear of the kitchen or were able to choose healthy snacks.

I am off to a leader retreat this weekend so I weighed in today. I was down 2 pounds. It will be harder to make good food choices but I don't want to lose my progress. I thought of checking in on Monday, but decided on today.I may not have internet so I may not be able to check in until Sunday evening.

Same goal- lose one pound this week.

i was also flexible on cycle 3 (this is my first time on cycle 3). i noticed i didn't eat as much veg as other cycles and i also did eat wheat products and small portions of chocolate after 2 pm occassionally but i increased my exercise so that helped me to stay within the scale. today is my last day of cycle 3 so tomorrow i am hoping to start back on cycle 1 although i have an social gathering coming up this saturday.

It's just as easy to weigh the wine by putting the glass on the scale and pouring directly. I drink fairly dry wines, usually merlots.

I have definitely been having less wheat/carbs then the book says you can have for c3. I have only had wheat 3x this cycle and no grains(maybe I had oatmeal 1x). I have had legumes a few times. When I want a salty snack I have edamame. Now that I say that maybe salt is my issue. When I want salt I go for it.

Tomorrow is my last day on c3. I keep waffling and I am debating whether to go to c1 again and start the rounds from scratch. It didn't work so well for me last time or should I say I didn't work it. I tend to think of the cycles (like a lot of people tend to) as all c1 with some additions depending on whether it is c2 or c3. I am thinking of just rotating thru the cycles everyday c1, c2, c3, c1, c2, c3 etc. but part of me wants/needs another boost in my weight loss. Slow and steady doesn't usually work for me because I tend to sabotage myself into thinking a few "splurges/treats" are okay and then before I know it I am going the wrong way.

Off to do our grocery shopping. I will get this figured out!

TOM probably accounted for a lot of your problem. What starches do you add? Wheat? I keep harping on it, but I don't lose when I eat wheat, even just 3 times a week. I eat a couple squares of dark chocolate in the evening and still lose.

Wine - you don't need to weigh it. It's a liquid measure so just use a standard measuring cup. There's 4oz in 1/2c and 6oz in 3/4 so just pour your wine in between the two lines. I measured once and found a smaller wine glass that holds 5 oz perfectly so now I can just pour the wine directly into the glass.
Do you drink a dry red wine?

I noticed when I do c3 I don't eat as many veg as I do on the other cycles. I add the carb/starch to my meal and I don't have room to eat as much veg because of that. I just have to look in my fridge to see that! LOL!

It was also TOM so I did have some dark chocolate. I buy individual pieces so I didn't go over board but I might have had it too many days in a row. I had wine but only 1 glass a nite for only 4 nights and I actually weighed it.

I have always been a lean meat eater so that isn't an issue for me. My eating has also always been fairly "clean"; other than a headache in the beginning from decreasing my caffeine I have had no detox symptoms on this diet. My portions were good because I never consumed large portions on any of the cycles except extra protein as a snack. I did have starch/carbs for dinner a few times. My fruit consumption also fell by the wayside.

Because I am so close to finishing c3 (feb 24) I decided to do a very strict c3 and see where that gets me. I will be happy to stay at 156 for the rest of this cycle and then go back to c1 and really focus on getting into the 140s.

@terrri - ride out C3. Why are you gaining? Have you analyzed what you're doing? Lack of portion control? More fatty meats? Wine? Starches after 2pm? WHEAT? You do need to figure it out so you don't gain all the weight back once you're off the diet.

@ISILIEL - I don't like Skinny cow because of all the additives so I found a frozen yogurt that has about the same amount of calories for 3/4c and also has the bonus of probiotics (it says live cultures on the carton).

I have noticed that when I am on c3 I don't pay as much attention as I do on the other cycles. I am up 1 lb from last week and last week I was up 1lb from the week before. I don't know why it didn't dawn on me to go to c1 to lose that 1lb! That is what we are supposed to do but for some reason I was just focusing on getting thru c3. Now I am up 2lbs. I have 5 days left on c3.

I am debating on riding out the remainder of c3 or cutting it short and going back to c1 early. There is no point in going to c1 to lose the 2lbs and then going back to c3 for 5 more days is there? I am now realizing that when I do c3 I actually need to do c2 but with out alternating with c1.

Almost done round 2 but I still have a lot to figure out.

Beans are added in on cycle 2 days (one of your starch options), so you can also have them on C3 as a starch choice.

Yes you can have legumes on C3, I have found that I react very badly to wheat, so my main starch's on C3 are Potatoes and legumes. So go ahead and enjoy them in moderation and it would be best to try to keep them before 2:00PM.

Thank you for your answers. Well you know how it is sometimes: You just need to see results fast. I know this is not healthy though.

I will be fine on C3, I know this. After all I will enjoy bread and pasta!

No legumes on C3 or did I miss something?
This is weird to me, if this cycle is supposed to be a "way of eating" kind of cycle.

I have always viewed Cycle 3 as my "practice real-life maintenance" Way of Eating - I'm on my third round of C3 right now. It is an opportunity for me to feed my body with a variety of foods, still stay within some guidelines (starches, fruits, portion control), and remain healthy.

I have traditionally said that my 'new' Way of Eating (i.e. now that 17DD has made lasting changes in my eating habits) is a base of "Cycle 1 foods", and on C2 and C3 I add in all the options, but keep that base of minimal fruit + lots of veggies + healthy protein + lots of water + lemon water and tea. I enjoy the variety of veggies when I can eat them, but eating broccoli, carrots, onions, cabbage, greens, cauliflower, tomatoes - I'm totally fine with that.

And please keep in mind (or go back through the threads and read) just how MANY people have posted "My weight hasn't changed - my weight hasn't changed - what's going on, still the same - Oh Crap I just lost 3 pounds!" It takes TIME for our bodies to adapt, change on the cellular and metabolic levels, and process whatever they need to in order for that scale to show a difference. Your physiological processes don't care about a number on the scale - but if you give it time, be patient, and persevere, your body will get lighter smaller and healthier.

So, YAY Cycle 3! I may lose less than two pounds each time I visit you, but my body is healthy and strong!

My Cycle 3 begins on Monday and I feel like TERRRI. I am somewhat scared of this cycle because I will be really disappointed if I don't loose any weight. :(

[Terrri: It makes it easier for me to think of c1 all the time and then the additions for the other 2 cycles as extras. If that makes sense?]

This is exactly what I am planing on doing and how I see C3, it makes absolute sense to me.

Also, we don't have Skinny Cow here, and I am just DYING for some chocolate...Variety in general is missing from my diet. I think I will just go through the recipes you have gathered for this cycle see if I find something new that I like.

Bridalkayte Please, please, please don't say you will be disappointed in yourself if you don't lose that 10 lbs. Look how far you have come and what you have learned about eating and about yourself. You know that your clothes fit better than before and that you are lighter than before...so what is there to be disappointed about????
I still have another 10 lbs to lose myself. If and when that happens, bonus, but when I look at a picture of me the day I started this diet and one of me that was taken 2 weeks ago, I am so proud of me!!!!!!!!!!
I see a happier person, than I was in April 2011. I see a healthier person than I was then also.
I see a person who has started something for herself and isn't giving up until it is done, and that could be another 6 months, or maybe another year...I don't care, but you know what...I will never be disappointed in myself if that next 10 doesn't come off, because that means, this is what my body is telling me I should be....as long as I can maintain, I will be a very happy loser!
Be proud of yourself, not disappointed. That wedding dress is going to look amazing on your new body!!!!!!!! emoticon

Wow, I read this thread at exactly the right time. I start C3 on Sunday.

I am looking forward to the occasional glass of red wine but I have really started to focus on my exercising (running) so I don't plateau too much. I really NEED to lose another 10 lbs before the wedding or I will be so disappointed in myself.

Jeff and I have decided to go on C4 because we will hit it right before our trip back to my hometown for my Bridal Shower. We will probably be pretty lax that weekend but then we will start C1 R2 so I can really shed some weight before the big day.

Thanks Ladies!

I did mean I would do c3 but with the minimal allowances of c3. In my mind c1 but with the extras of c2 and c3 thrown in. It makes it easier for me to think of c1 all the time and then the additions for the other 2 cycles as extras. If that makes sense?

I will mostly keep my carbs to before 2pm and my fruit. My carbs are mostly veg and legumes; I find it hard adding in grains and definitely can't do it everyday. My protein is always just a portion anyways. I also have a kitchen scale that I use to double check my portions if I feel my eyes are getting greedy. It really helps to learn what a portion looks like so when the scale isn't accessible I don't feel lost.

In hindsight when I was thin I naturally cycled my calories. If I ate a lot one day the next day I just automatically cut back. Not sure what happened to that habit but I want it back!

I have recorded my food for c1 and c2 but not c3. Maybe I will try that and see if I am eating as well as I think I am.

It is interesting what researchers are now discovering about cyclical caloric intake...perhaps that even eating "lower carb" (and thereby lower calorie) only two days a week makes a big difference in weight loss efforts. By their conclusions, confusion does not equal chaos but results.

I like the "restoration on a cellular level" comment...it makes sense to this non-scientific mind. Just like how exercise balanced with meditation makes sense...the physical work vs emotional release works- keeps mind and body equalized.

My fellow co-leaders are right. You do need c3. And portion control. I have a kitchen scale that is used so much when I am on C3. I eat a lot of frozen fruits, cause I love them in my yogurt and my oatmeal...I have frozen raspberries and frozen cranberries...both are anti-oxidants that you need in your daily diet. But I digress...you have to be able to portion out your meals in order to maintain your weight when you reach your goal. Right now I have been sitting between 172-174 for about 2 months now. I am happy with that...but I also don't do very much exercise. If I find I go over 175 during that 17 days that I am on c3...I cut out the extra snacks and eat more veggies and less startch...I don't cut the starch out though, I just have maybe 1 a day instead of 2...I usually eat my starch at breakfast (oatmeal), but the odd time I will have some at lunch with my soup (WW bread and make a sandwich to go with the soup). It is important for you to go to c3...remember it is only for 17 days and you can go back to c1 or 2 after that. But please don't skip c3, it won't be healthy for you.

According to the 17DD customer scve the cycles have to be followed in order. You can't skip C3 although you can stay on C3 as long as you want. I lose just as much on C3 as I do on C2 and half as much as on C1. Eat your starches before 2pm, and don't eat wheat. Do an experiment. See if you lose more by not eating wheat and make most of your starches legumes or yams. You need to watch portion control in C3 with your meat. Protein is no longer unlimited. I'll bet you lose. You can still have a Skinny Cow treat and one glass of wine (and it's not a big glass either!)

I think your body and your mind need cycle 3 unless you are already at goal weight and then you can skip to cycle 4. (The book says the goal weight thing and cycle 4)

"I call this Cycle Achieve because one of its chief purposes is to help you achieve good lifetime eating habits, such as portion control, regular mealtimes and the inclusion of healthy foods? page 79.

I am also thinking that without it your body will just get used to the diminished cycles of 1 and 2 and it might mess with your metabolism. doing cycle 3 lets your body know you will feed it and it doesn't have to hold on to stuff.

you can cut out the optional snacks and alcohol. and do more exercise (if that is possible).

Of course, this is just how I feel/believe, not being an expert or anything other than a co-jouneyer.

Just wondering if anyone knows off hand if cycle 3 is necessary for more than 1 round. I am supposed to be starting c3 today but I am contemplating going back to c1. The weight loss is so slow on c3 and I didn't make much progress on c1 or c2 this round.

What do you all do when you want your weight loss to speed up and you are on c3? I guess there is the option of doing minimal c3 eating.

I find myself waffling and wanting to eat c3 when I am on c1 and now that I can have c3 I don't want it! Or I am afraid to have it! I think I just figured it out, I need to reread my book and stick to c1 with minimal c2 and c3 foods thrown in for good measure.

Thanks for reading.
