Thank you guys, I bought two kinds of the desserts gum today and it really did help. It tasted sweet and I kept chewing, I think I tricked myself LOL. I know it will pass eventually but after the sugar fest over the holidays I guess I am not surprised it's harder this time around.

I found that even if I use a sweetener with stevia I still crave somethng additional, so I found going cold turkey for a few days gets rid of that bad habit. The trick is to do without for those few days. I chew the dessert gum also.

That's what happens to me sometimes, MY-TURN. I'm not even HUNGRY, but suddenly want something sweet. And I'm not really a "sweets" person (salty is a different story!). I just keep shoving in the carrots or turkey in the hope I'll distract myself!

Thanks so much everyone, I will try that gum for sure sounds good. I have not found the cinnamon trick helped me at all as I am not really a huge fan of cinnamon. I have been eating so much protein at every meal which is way more than usual for me and to be honest when I am craving the sweets I am not hungry just looking for the sweet taste so I think the gum might help. The first time I did the 17dd I had the same issue but it was not as bad but this time I am in a different part of my cycle :( Thanks all!

I am with Lin here, I love the apple pie dessert gum It is out of this world.
Also I put some maple agave on top of my yogurt and some cinnamon and that is amazing. Or mix up some cinnamon and some sweetener and make a cinnamon sugar to put on the top of it. There are so many things you can do to make it sweet and satisfying.

If you are eatting enough protein, you shouldn't be hungry or craving on c1...grab some chicken or any other type of protein when those cravings hit.

I like a piece or two of the Extra Dessert gum. The apple pie flavor is surprisingly good, and so is key lime pie. Sometimes it helps me if I brush my teeth right after dinner. A cup of good decaf tea sometimes does the trick, too. I think a large part of the "I need sweets after dinner" feeling (which I share) is the ritual of settling down with something tasty and enjoying it. I didn't have cravings after my first round of C1....struggling a bit now (months later), but that's a different post! LOL! Let us know what works for you.

I've heard it said many times that the things that we crave are the things that we are allergic to. I don't know if it's true for sweets but it is true for cigaretts, alcohol, and drugs. Why not sweets?

I use half a pack of stevia with cinnamon in my yogurt every night,....It's my pretend ice cream.

Hi MyTurn,

I really did not crave sweets after a certain point on cycle 1. Perhaps a flavored tea with a bit of stevia? I know some people think cinnamon helps. i like cinnamon but i never noticed if it really satisfies a craving. i do remember needing more protein and water.

good luck. i'm sure some others will be along with better suggestions.

Hi all,

I started the 17 day diet for the second time almost two weeks ago, I am still craving sweets after dinner and don't feel satisfied. I used to always have something sweet after dinner (not always bad sometimes fruit) but with the 17 day diet this is not allowed. I have tried the yogurt with coco powder but I did not like the taste of it. Any suggestions?? I am hopeful that once I get past a certain point these cravings will fade but in the meantime I need your suggestions to stay on track!
