OOPS! Okay, sorry for crazy caps, but I am just too lazy to go back and fix that, LOL! For some reason even though the box is checked, I am not getting emails that there are replies here. So I came on thinking there was no activity. Hmmmm

Anywyas, I hope everyone is doing good. I am so happy not to see anymore rain! Even though it's hot as heck! I think we are in for one Sweltering summer!

Dawn, what are you doing to lose wight besides all this exercise? I want whatever it is you got going on! You're always so perky and upbeat!

It is cool (in the Winter, sometimes literally!). We're working on it bit-by-bit and having a great time doing it. Next is a re-do on the kitchen. I'm really excited by the idea of having cabinets and a dishwasher.

Today I'm planning to hit the stairs at work and visit colleagues around the building at the same time (I'm into incorporating workouts into life these days). Then tonight it will be my usual EA Active Wii workout (circuit training, essentially).

Hope you all have a great day!

Wow--an old flour mill, really?? That's cool!! We had a good shower yesterday but nothing more serious than that. A neighbor down the street had a HUGE branch fall on their roof, but damage was minimal, thank goodness! Now we're looking at a terribly hot sticky weekend...I wanted to go the Secret City Festival, but with temps floating around 100, I'll be staying in my a/c!!

Today's workout--half hour circuits, 20min walk/run, and then my afternoon elliptical. Goin', goin', GONE!! Have a great Friday everyone!!

Mornin', Dawn and all. I'm glad the rain seems to be gone for a bit. Our creek (we live in an former flour mill, so the foundation of the house is RIGHT on the creek) is high, but not over its banks, so I think we're good even if it rains some more this afternoon. And we haven't had any tree damage. So I'm happy the storms look like they're calming back down.

Exercise for me today will be at least a half hour on my Wii Active, lunchtime yoga if I can get away at work, and I just joined a new daily challenge team, so whatever is on the table for that! I put away my scale at the beginning of June because it was making me crazy--now, I'm focusing on eating well and exercising and I'm just going to trust that the scale will show progress eventually. That's a leap of faith for me!

Hey, Happy Thursday everyone!
It's nice and cool this morning so I've got the windows open listening to the birds singing emoticon Haha, that's the closest 'bird' we have in the emoticons!! Anyway! Great day yesterday--as Roni knows...I dug out an old pair of size 10 capris, just to see how snug they were and they ended up fitting great and I wore 'em to work!! I was so happy I almost cried--I know I was grinning from ear to ear all day! emoticon What an awesome realization that was!! So, I'm gonna skip buying anymore 12's and bide my time with what I have. It makes me think I can even get down to an 8 if I keep going this way and I haven't been an 8 since high school!

I printed out the application for the Race for Ramps 5k next month in Oak Ridge--I'm really excited about that! I lost the 8k race info in Knoxville tho'--I think it's Autumnfest-have to keep checking on that-the map's gone that was posted last week??

Today is a step video and more elliptical. Summer Reading at the library and maybe the pool after lunch if it's not too terribly hot and muggy. Countin' down the days til vacation!! 9!! Yeah! C'mon girls--let's do this!! Have a GREAT Thursday!!

Life is good here. The storms out my way (Limestone) were a little scary last night, but it looks like things have blown over for at least awhile today.

Good morning everyone! Dawn I'm glad you had fun at Dollywood. We try and get there at least once a year. I think this yr we are gonna do it around Christmas time so we can see all the pretty lights.

The scale was soooooo not my friend this morning. it seems I am up 5 pounds, and it's from pure laziness and eating BAD stuff. It's time for me to get it in gear. Not talk about, blog it or constantly complain about it, but to take action! So if my tummy will just cooperate with me this morning, I plan on doing just that! Time to start utilizing my GYM membership and at least start trying. I've decided that I am spending WAY too much time online so I deleted my accounts in a few online social sites and will focus more on REAL life activities. I've kept the Facebook & myspace and that's it! Well of course SP, but this is my place to help aid me in my goals so Sp is a given.
Anyhooo, Have a great day team!!!!

Mornin' Ms. Sally and everyone!
Hope everyone is up and moving this fine Monday! I've done a half hour of ST interspersed with jumping jacks between sets, then went out for my first training session for the 5k in Oak Ridge at the end of July! I have a date with the elliptical this afternoon--no rest for the weary, eh? LOL!
C'mon everyone--shake it!!
Have a great Monday!!

Morning ETN!
We had a blast at Dollywood--gosh, it's beautiful there! I'm originally from Pgh, so Kennywood was our big summer treat every year and I have to say, Dollywood lived up to my expectations after so many wonderful Kennywood memories! We rode almost everything 'til we hit the Tornado, then Michael (my ds) was done--just a little too much for him emoticon Got some sun, gonna be feeling that today! I stayed very well in the calorie range, actually just over 1200-so I'm very proud of myself-but I think that low number is the reason I don't feel so well this morning. I've had a headache keeping me up all night, feel kinda dizzy and sick to my stomach here today emoticon I was supposed to go to work but I think I'm only gonna head back to bed and rest up for the day...Hope everybody has a wonderful Sunday! TTYS! emoticon emoticon

Another place to look for races is www.runtricities.org/ . It's not just tri-cities--when I looked just now, the first race listed is in Chattanooga, so it could be useful for anyone in the area.

I did my first 5K walk this spring--it really was motivating, and it was fun to do. I may start looking for another to do soon.

There are some links in our team pages (click on the red links tab close to the top of the team page) that show all kinds of activities in the region.

Thanks Valerie and Dmaurice for the info. I really think a goal of working toward a walk/race would give me a kick in the butt. When you are losing as slowly as I am, it is almost impossible to notice a plateau. Well.. I notice a plateau. Time to rev it up a notch. Thirty minutes a day sounds like a good idea.
Let us hear about Dollywood. I plan to take my grandbaby next week. Wow, is this weather normal?
We came last summer from Atlanta. Can't believe these storms. Lovin the rain.
Have a great week end.

Mornin' everyone and Happy Saturday! I'm so excited this morning--I won four free passes to Dollywood yesterday so we're heading down bright 'n early this morning! This is our first time there and I know our little boy is just gonna love it! My plan for the day: gonna get my yoga done at six, have a good healthy breakfast and do the best I can making healthy food choices while we're at the park. Packin' up some water and probably some snacks to take with us--gotta try to stay within that calorie range!!
I did a quick Google for 5k events in E TN and came up with this link for the Knoxville Track Club: http://www.ktc.org/Events.html Now, I'm not a runner--yet!! But I know I can walk a 5k easily, so I bookmarked the site and after we get home from vacation, I want to see if I can get involved in some of these events! There's one in July, the Race for Ramps in Oak Ridge I want to do, so gotta put it on the calendar or else I'll forget!
Well, ya'll have a great weekend! I'll check in again tomorrow!

Hello, everyone. I live in Kingsport and have been a member of SparkPeople for 9 months. I've participated in two of the SparkPeople Biggest Loser Challenges (BLC), which has helped me to be more accountable for exercise. I'm just shy of my goal to lose 50 lbs. My doctor told me that exercise in conjunction with a healthy diet is the key to losing weight.

I've started getting up at 4am on weekdays and exercising 15 to 30 minutes before I take my shower (depending one how long my dachshund feels she needs to patrol the yard for rabbits). That has helped me tremendously. Plus I have more energy for the workday. I also either walk, ride my recumbent bike, or do strength/ stretching exercises in the evening. I try to vary my exercise so I don't get bored.

Val, that is very good advice. I think we can all try our best to fit in 30 minutes everyday, even if it's just a walk.

Dawn , I swear girl, where do you get all that energy? You are just bubbling over! LOL! I need me some of that!

I am soooooooooooooo glad the weekend is FINALLY here!!!!! Y'all have fun and stay OP! We can do this!

I would freak if I could fit in a size 12! Way to go! I can't wait till I can make that announcement!

Do you guys ever get together offline?

Sally-I am signed up for the Cove Lake 5k at the end of June. You can go to the Knoxville Track Club website and click on "events" and they have a list of all the races and stuff in our area and region. I think the website is www.ktc.org. You can google it for sure. I am signed up for the Cove Lake race. It would be totally cool to see you there. I believe the last day to sign up is 6/19.

I went to the Dr. the other day for a number of different things, but something he said stuck in my mind--he said when planning your exercise, make it a point to workout 30 mins a day no matter what. He said that way you don't have to worrry about whether or not it is a day you'll work out or not, because you always know that you workout 30 minutes EVERYDAY no matter what. Of course, you can always do more, but try to not do less. Just a concept I never had considered before.

Yall have a great day!

Today, did half an hour of strength training and will hop on the elliptical later this afternoon. Probably take the kiddo to the lake to feed the ducks today and play at the park if the rain holds off. We had some good down pours yesterday and last night--ahh, loverly humidity!! Hahaha! Happy Friday ya'll!!

Congratz on the size 12 and losing that pound plus!!! You go girl!

I don't know about any 5k's in Oakridge, but I sure wish they did stuff like that here in Newport.

As for the storms, by the time they got to me we barely got rain. I don't know why every storm has to go around us. Even when they are headed right for us, once they get here they split and go around. Weird..

congratulations on size twelve....... Terrific. Wow, did ya'll get that storm last night? They say more to come. After the rain left here ( Oak Ridge/Clinton) we watched it over Farrugut. The huge cloud just kept turning pink, and exploding with lightening. How can something so distructive, be so beautiful from afar? Ah well.......
Does anyone know of upcoming 5 k s in the Oak Ridge area? I think I could walk one.....

Well, once a week weigh ins work for me to keep things on track--though, I did give in and jumped on this morning 'cuz it made me crazy all day thinking about that half pound! Hallelujah I not only lost that but another half pound!! Whew!! I do only measure once a month-I really like to see the difference in those numbers after a month of busting my butt!!

The BEST thing tho'...I had ordered a pair of slacks from Victoria's Secret, by their measurement chart it said I would need a 14. Okay, I figured they might run small. Pants came last night and they were way too big!!! Sent 'em back and ordered the next smaller size emoticon I was thrilled!!

Today is cardio, cardio, cardio!! I will do a half hour step video this morning and then another 45 on the elliptical this afternoon. Hope everyone has a great day!! Almost the weekend folks! emoticon

Hey Teamies!
How's everyone doing this morning? Roni, did you make it to the gym?? I hope you're feeling better today! I'm off to work today, 8-3, so that's not too bad. I shall survive! Haha! I'll do strength sets this morning then elliptical this afternoon. I'm up half a pound on the scale this morning but I drank a TON of water yesterday, so I'm hoping that's all it was. I know I've been good all week, in my calorie range and working my butt off. Hate it when those numbers go up!! emoticon Anyways--ya'll have a great Wednesday, hear?? LOL

Go to the gym Roni! You'll feel so much better about yourself after your done! I know this may sound totally cheesy, but I am a huge fan of the "Biggest Loser" show and the theme song inspires me sometimes when I ask myself "what have you done today to make you feel proud?" Sometimes it convicts me just enough to get up off the couch. Plus the realization that this weight is not going to come off by itself, and my friend's wedding is in Sept!

I totally forgot about the V8 juice. I have definitely used that as a vegetable crutch!

Hope you all have a wonderful and productive day!

Good morning peeps! Not too much to say really, been a little stressed. I think I may FORCE myself to the GYM or something today and try and make myself feel better. I know it helps stress and depression but I swear once you get out of working out everyday, it's sooooooo hard getting back into it. Dang...

Anyhoo, cross your fingers for me that I can get myself out of this funk.

V8 juice is a good way to get veggies in. Seems to me I heard 8 oz is worth 2 veggies. It's good hot from the microwave too. Very filling. Veggies grow on you. Acquired taste. Salads used to bore me to tears, but adding some of those real bacon bits, nuts, cheese, and leftovers makes a good lunch.
Have a wonderful Tuesday. I have Tai Chi this morning. My new adventure.

Welcome Bleve--and thanks to all for making me feel so welcomed!

Bleve, I am right there with you on the veggies. I would rather eat a fruit anyday than a vegetable. If it isn't a tater, corn, sweetpeas, or broccoli, I am not usually interested. I have been doing well with getting the broccoli in by getting the "florets" and then steaming them in the microwave and sprinkling a little lemon juice on them for taste. Those ziploc "zip-n-steam" bags make quick work of some fresh veggies too. You just gotta make yourself cook and eat them....

Well I have had a very busy but productive day. I have eaten within my calorie range and gotten a good workout at lunch even though I had to tone it down a little because it was some kind of hot today at 12-1pm. Good grief!--I could just feel the steam rising up into my face off the pavement! Well, I gotta get for now. I hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow! Eat good and exercise!

Good morning!

It really is a beautiful Monday!

My name is Beve, and I live in Sullivan County near the Bristol Motor Speedway and have lived here all of my life. I am a 46-year-old grandmother of one and mother of two girls. Both of them are obese with fit and trim men; just like their mother which causes me a lot of guilt. I am working two jobs, taking care of my elderly parents (my mom has Alzhiemers and my dad just got out of the hospital with pneumonia), and my eldest daughter and her family lives with us. Talk about stress! It is very hard for me to carve out any time for me; I felt guilty going to the Knoxville Zoo with my grandson Saturday, so I came home early and took my parents out to eat.

I love to camp, and this area lends itself to a wonderful camping experience. I am planning on goint to Little Oak at the end of the month. I am NOT goint to worry about my job or my parents. Actually I am hoping I can convince them to go with me, that way I can cook for them and know they are eating right.

My biggest weight loss obstacle is the fact that I REALLY don't like vegetables. I have been trying to eat at least one a day, but it is really hard. Any suggestions would really be appreciated.

They just opened the Wellness Center where I work, and I am going to make a point of goint there at least three times a week.

Wish me luck!!

Welcome Valerie, you are smart to lose it now. It will be good for your kids too, down the road.
I would like to walk a 5 k. Did you see Ron on biggest loster? He walked (limped) a marathon. Took him something like l3 hours. Like him or not, gotta give him credit for stubborn. I need a little of that.
Have a good day all, another week of rain tomorrow.
I love the rain, we come from Atlanta, where they are in a horrible drought.

Seriously, I get on the Treadmill 3 times a week and I wog (Walk & Jog) for 30 minutes to an hour. I long for the day when I can do a 5k in 30 to 35 minutes! I'll think I'm all that a bog of baked chips then! LOL!

Hi All! I am new to sparkpeople and this team. I am a 38, full-time working mommy to three young boys. I live in NE Knox in the Gibbs community. I too am a transplant from Arkansas. We moved here in '96 and think it is the best kept secret in the nation! I used to think AR was beautiful (in places) till I moved here. I have been walking for a year and recently started running. I recently reached a non-stop 3.25 miles so I signed up for the Cove Lake 5k at the end of June. Any other runners here? I started my weight loss journey at the beginning of May a year ago at 225.5 lbs and am now at 184. I feel like I could've been a lot further by now, but life with three young'uns is crazy! I have been pretty active for most of my life. Gymnastics as a young girl into my teens, springboard diving in college, and then real life set in and then kids. I never thought I would get up to the 200's. But I come from an overweight family, so the motivation/support wasn't always there. I am determined to be strong and healthy again. I feel like this has to be done before I get any older. I don't want to be 45 and looking back and wishing I had heeded advice of others that it only gets harder as you get older. Besides, I don't know if the extra skin from losing this weight can even be absorbed or "go back into shape" if I waited even later in life to get started. I have written a book-sorry. Glad to be here and can't wait to get to know you all. I am not promising I can keep up everyday, but I will try.

LOL Roni--I've heard some stories about Cocke cty...hahaha emoticon The Poconos ARE beautiful! I doubt we'll ever move back to PA--hubby's family is all up in MA, so maybe New England could be in our future...ya' never know! I'm sorry you're waiting on the child support check--I really hope it gets there soon!! Chin up, love--it'll be okay!!

Ms Sally! I'm over here in Oliver Springs!! We're not too far apart! We have deer here, lots of possums and skunks, it seemed to be a quiet year for the turtles, tho'...I have a coyote I can hear in the mornings sometime and barred owls--ahhh, love it!! TN is heaven :0)

Oh Sally, that sounds wonderful! We see Deer here too, and every now and then we see a huge bear wondering round at night in the neighbors yard! SCARED the crap out of us! LOL! I wish we lived on a lake or river. that would be awesome. Jess is wanting to move us to White Pine or Dandridge, maybe even Hamblen co come next Tax refund. He wants to be closer to his job and out of the Cocke co universe. I hope it happens.

Thanks for taking over Roni. We should be able to get a dialogue going. I'm new to Tennessee. We moved here about a year ago, and things are coming up in my yard like new surprises. We love it here (we're on the Oak Ridge end of Clinton). We just love the river, and the valley, the morning mists, the deer everywhere. We had foxes across the street.
After 30 years in Atlanta, we feel like we have found a little corner of heaven.
I am 63, so you can call me Mom if you want.
Losing weight for me has become a slow/ steady thing.
Averaging 200 to 300 calories deficit per day, I am usually down a pound every three weeks. Seems eternal, yes, but it doesn't feel like any kind of depravation. So it is an easy and comfortable.
Have a great day, rain again. Beats a drought. emoticon

Good Morning Dawn-Dawn & Everybody!
HA! That's so funny, everyone I've met and made friends with her in TN aren't from here either! LOL! My man, Jesse is also from PA (Easton) and I am from Savannah, GA. I got here first in 2000 and started off living in Sevier co. I met him online in 2001 while he was in Pensacola, Fl getting out of the Navy. It wasn't 5 months and he was up here with me! We moved to Newport because it's cheaper than Sevier co, although Cocke co is it's on little universe which is a whole other story! LOL! I DO love the mountains. It's absolutely beautiful, but after visiting his folks up in Easton and spending time in the Poconos, I think I left a piece of my heart up there. So one day we will go live there. Fingers crossed! As for the weather, we have the same situation here. it's Newport, or at least our area in Newport, is in a vortex or something and storms just scatter around us, but I do have to say, I've seen more rain this yr than any time I've been here. I hope it still comes during July & August too when it's soooooooooo hot! Do y'all like to go camping? I LOVE it!!!!

Anyhooo. sorry I have been MIA the past few days. The ex has neglected to send the May child support and lied and said it was on the way, so we figured, he sent it last wednesday, it would be here Tuesday at the lates, so we only bought groceries up to that point, because it's all the $$ we had after paying the bills, well, it's still not here so we have been scrambling to find money for food. it's got me all kind of stressed out, so I tend to stay away from the internet when I am moody. Hopefully it'll get here today. *Sigh* This is why my status was set o Mad, sad and frustrated.
Good news is, I am losing weight being FORCED to eat less. I am sure I'll fine it once Jess gets paid though, lol!
Y'all have a great day!

Hey Ms. Roni!
I'm so with you--I don't feel like I'm in my forties (denial, right? LOL!) Well, it's been at least the same length of time since I wore a bikini, too--and I've gotten a little bit of sunburn in some spots that haven't seen sun in seriously, decades!! Haha!

As for the storms, we've been lucky 'cuz we're down in the valley, things seem to bounce around us. It has been a good start this year with the rain, we've needed it so bad!! I just hope it stays with us through the summer, makes watering the garden a whole lot easier! My zucchini plants are going to town already and I've got some baby tomatoes out there, too!! LOVE garden tomatoes!!

Are you not originally from TN? We're actually from PA, moved here in 2005 after living in OH for three years, so it's been four years here for us. I LOVE TN!! I love the Smokies, going down to Gatlinburg, even Chattanooga reminds me so much of home...I like to pop out to Nashville once in a while, try to do a little star stalking (no luck yet! Haha!) The mountains are gorgeous--I don't want to be anywhere else!

Well, I'm gonna go get busy here. Have a great day!! Talk to ya' soon!

I know right! When did 42 happen? I still feel at least 30! LOL! Also, 42 and wearing a bikini! You go girl! Last time I wore a bikini I was 25! That totally rock!

Isn't Anderson county where all the bad storms hit when they come from the West? by the time they get to Newport, all we have is a bit of rain and maybe some wind. We rarely ever get bad weather here. But it sure has rained a lot this year! More than I've seen since I moved here in 2000! Everything is so beautiful and lush and green! Very pretty!

Good morning Sparkers! Best of luck to you Roni taking over the team and also with your weight loss. I'm almost 42 (like, when did that happen, right?? LOL!)over here in Anderson County! I'm bound and determined to shed this SAHM weight and get fit again! I've lost almost twenty pounds the past two months and I've got another twenty to go. We leave on vacation at the end of this month to go visit the in-laws up in MA, so Yeah, there will be beach time and I've already bought my bikini and have worn it publicly at our local pool and felt GREAT!! It'll feel even better as I get rid of some more of this cellulite! Haha! My exercise for today is cardio--I have a half hour step video to do before hubby and kiddo get up this morning, then will hop on the elliptical for another half hour or more later this afternoon. My fitness goal for the month is at least 1500 minutes and I'd like to hit 160lb by the time we leave for MA! I can do it!!!

Good morning Teamies!!!!

I just wanted to drop by and see how everyone is doing. I am hoping we can get some more chatters in here and start talking about everything under the sun!

Lets get involved, chat, post our daily exercise, Talk about or plans, our struggles and successes! We can do this East TN!

My name is Roni, I'm in Cocke county, TN, and I'll be taking over MUIN64, but hopefully she'll be sticking around to make sure I don't mess up! hehe! I am 42 and have been struggling with my weight for 15 yrs, but it's only been since about 2004 that it's gotten out of control and I have the type 2 Diabetes. *sigh*

I count my calories, try and get 4 to 6 days of exercise in and hope for the best. I have a strong online support system and I am hoping to spread some of that out in this group, but I need YOUR help. I can't do this alone, so participate people! It's a proven fact that posting and sharing your struggles and success helps you along in your journey and lifestyle change.

Also, I am the Typo Queen, so I hope you all can read Typonese! LOL!

Anyhoo, Have a great day!
~Roni emoticon
