I just joined the group, I found out I was diabetic a few weeks ago and need as much information and help as I can get.
I am 70 and my Dr. put me on Metformin but I am allergic, we are now trying glipizide a 2.5 dose will see if that works I start that tomorrow.
Hope to get to know a few of the group members so we can have a chat once in a while.

Lost 13 pounds so far..blood sugar is still close to 200 in the mornings. I am type 2 on 1000 mg of metformin. I walk 40 to 60 minutes everyday which is about 3 to 3 1/4 miles. I feel good just wish my blood sugar would be normal so I could quit taking meds

02/01/21 - Starting the challenge today.

My Dr. does not have me tracking my BS so I will see how my A1C changes. In Jan it was 6.6 and it will be tested again in July.

2020 was an everlasting blur for me. I stayed healthy (no Covid) but exercised little and ate whatever looked good (and lots of it).

It's time to get on track. Time to pay attention to what I eat and to moving my body.

Hi, my BS was shooting up well over 200 so I decided not to die. Oh and I was not taking my Metformin.

So I started the 8 week Reverse Diabetes plan on January 13. In two weeks my FBS went from mid to high 200s down to 150.

I think I'm on the right track. Doing Keto. Keeping carbs below 30. Watched Dr. Sarah Hallberg's Keto video for reversing diabetes.

I believe my BS will be normal by the end of the eight weeks.

Joining this team to share support on a journey to improve our health and manage diabetes. I need to get serious about following my nutrition and exercise programs.

At the time I joined Spark People I was pre-diabetic and was on high blood pressure pills. Therefore, the doctor took me off high blood pressure pills because I lost weight by walking 5-6 days a week. SparkPeople is important because I have to continue to exercise, watch my weight, and track my foods.

I'm new to the challenge. I have too many blood sugars over 200, so I want to get my diabetes under control. Even though I'm Type II, I am on insulin as well as an oral hypoglycemic. Looking forward to learning more about managing my diabetes and getting healthier.

Hi. I have been in a weigh tloss group for a month. It is just a support group no specific "diet" involved. Every week we do an action plan. Through this group we have to do blood work in the beginning and in the end (it lasts a year). My glucose came back high and my A1C is slightly elevated. So I do want to get serious about this. So I am going to follow the 8 week diabetes challenge and use it to shape my action plan for my group.

Started this challenge today(9/12/2020). I really hope I can stick with this plan, because my numbers keep going up. The biggest problem I have is with carbs. I am a carboholic. So my challenge will be to only eat healthy carbs, not junky ones. Drinking water is not easy for me. Exercising for the time being is out. I hurt my back recently and can barely move. I count my housework and shopping as exercise.

It appears that this particular thread is the most active... so... things are going fine, in my third week. Tracking food is now, has always been...and forever will be the biggest challenge for me.

However... the challenge I have right now is that on the desktop the 'read article' link is fine. But on mobile... I don't get anything of value at all in the way of articles. Nothing. Notta. It's a big waste of time... anybody know how to set some filters or parameters on it?

I was recently diagnosed as a diabetic. I'm wanting to learn how to control it and loose weight and not have to go on insulin if at all possible
